Well, I Never!

Target
  • 2 Glade Fabric and Air Sprays $3.49 each, used BOGO coupon (5/10 SS) and two $2 Target hangtag coupons (found on the bottles) = $0.51 profit *Gave BOGO coupons first
  • Swiss Tea $2, used $1 coupon and will submit for Try Me Free rebate (5/17 SS) = $1 profit
  • Total was $0.84

Pathmark

  • 5 newspapers $1.50 each
  • Entenmann's crumbcake (my achilles heel - see? its already nibbled on!) $2.50
  • 4 Marcal toilet papers $0.89 each, used four freebie coupons (5/3 SS) = FREE
  • Used two $5 catalinas, total was $0.60

Then my boyfriend bought:

  • 1 paper $1.50
  • 4 Marcal toilet papers $0.89 each, used four freebie coupons (5/3 SS) = FREE
  • Total was $1.35

My boyfriend and I had also hit up another Target where I found a ton more of the Target Glade coupons. I attempted to buy 10 Glades, Swiss Tea and some Gatorade. The cashier scanned my BOGO coupons and was halfway through the Target coupons when she determined that I'd used enough. She called over another coupon-challenged cashier to back her up and they told me I couldn't use any more Target coupons. I said that it was Target's policy to allow use of a manufacturer's coupon and a Target coupon on one item. Cashier #2 says to me - "we work here, I think we'd know what the policy is" (obviously not!). I asked for my coupons back and said I wouldn't be buying anything. As we walked away, one of the cashiers said "What a bitch." I didn't hear it - my boyfriend told me what he'd heard after we'd left the store. I plan on calling the store manager shortly. I don't care quite so much about them not letting me use coupons, I'm pretty used to that at Target. But I surely don't appreciate being called names. Rude!

Score!

Target
  • 12 Glade Fabric and Air Sprays $3.49 each, used six BOGO coupons (5/10 SS - thanks centralil for these!) and twelve $2 Target hangtag coupons (found on the bottles) = $3.06 profit *Gave BOGO coupons first
  • Swiss Tea $2, used $1 coupon and will submit for Try Me Free rebate (5/17 SS) = $1 profit

*On closer examination, the rebate is only good for the after-coupon price. I may not bother to waste a stamp on a $1 rebate.

  • 5 Crystal Lights (love this flavor!) $2.66 each, used three $1 coupons and one $2 off 2 coupon = $8.30 or $1.66 each
  • Total was $7.63

This was the third Target I'd gone to in search of these hangtag coupons and I was about to give up. I'm really glad I didn't. I love the way the Glades smell. :)

Gotta Love Clearance

CVS
  • AcneFree Pockmark Filler Kit clearanced to $4.99, used $3 coupon (5/17 RP) and got back $5 EB (Limit 1) = $3.01 profit *Folks are reporting these as $1.99 in some areas
  • Dentyne gum clearanced to $0.65
  • Used $2 EB, total was $0.89

Then on DBF's card, I basically did this again:

  • AcneFree Pockmark Filler Kit clearanced to $4.99, used $3 coupon (5/17 RP) and got back $5 EB (Limit 1) = $3.01 profit
  • Sunchips $0.99
  • Used $2 EB, total was $1.19

The clearance price didn't ring up automatically, so the cashier entered the item as a Taxable Item for $4.99. She then entered my coupon in manually, but then I didn't get my EB's. The manager manually printed the EB's for me.

Walgreens

  • Physician's Formula Bronze Booster $14.99, used $1 coupon (4/19 SS) and will submit for TMF rebate = $1 profit
  • Posture D Calcium $8.99, got back $9 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Real Soft toilet paper clearanced to $0.25 (regularly $1)
  • Velveeta Shells & Cheese $1.99 (forgot I had a coupon for this)
  • Ramen noodles $0.29
  • Vitamin 10 water $1 *had planned to buy a bunch and use several $1 coupons but they wouldn't scan, so I ended up just getting the one. I was worried I'd done my math wrong and would be negative without it.
  • Used $6 RR and two $10 RR's, total was $1.63

Using up Bonus Bucks

A&P
  • Sure Max deodorant $4.49, used $2.50 coupon (from previous rebate) and will submit for TMF rebate = $2.50 profit
  • 2 Finesse shampoo/conditioners $1.50 each, used two $0.75 coupons (5/17 SS) = FREE
  • 3 Healthy Choice lunch meats $1.99 each (clearance price), used two $1 coupons (5/17 Parade) = $3.97 or $1.32 each *I would have used a third coupon but it would've made my total negative
  • 10 La Yogurt yogurts $3.88 or $0.38 each
  • America's Choice milk $1.19
  • America's Choice noodles $1.29
  • Used two $5 catalinas, total was $0.91
Let me tell y'all, I'm really getting pretty sick of shopping lately, but I have all these rewards that keep expiring on me! These catalinas expired tomorrow, so I needed to put them to good use. I have a bunch more A&P catalinas, but they are all rainchecks that don't expire for a while, so there's no rush to use them up. I also have some Walgreens RR's that are expiring on 5/29, so now I have to figure out a plan to use those up. Sometimes shopping is such hard work!

Light Week 5/31 - 6/6

Photo courtesy of lolcats. As always, my deals all come from the wonderful folks at HCW, Slick Deals and Erica at iheartcvs.com, iheartriteaid.com and iheartwags.com. Here we go...

  • Charmin/Bounty - spend $20, get back $5 EB (Limit 3). Includes Charmin Basic (12 ct), Charmin Ultra Strong or Charmin Ultra Soft Bathroom Tissue or Bounty Basic (6 pk) Paper Towels $5.88 each. There were Charmin & Bounty coupons in the 5/3 P&G insert.
  • iTunes gift cards - spend $50, get back $10 EB (Limit 3) *not included in CA ad
  • Milk (one gallon) get back $1 EB (Limit 2) *most likely a regional deal so check your circulars first

  • Maxell T-120 VHS tape (Single Pack) $1.49, get back $1.49 SCR = FREE

Walgreens

  • Bayer/Breeze 2 Meters $10, use freebie coupon (10/26 or 2/1 RP or 3/22 SS) and get back $10 RR = $10 profit *There is a TMF rebate inside the box. • Ecotrin Tablets $2, use $2 coupon (or 5/17 SS) or $2.25 coupon (store will probably have to adjust down to $2) and get back $2 RR = $2 profit (or FREE without coupon)
  • Chinet Plates (10 or 15 pack) $1.50, use $1 coupon (5/3 SS) = $0.50
  • Revlon Hair Dryer or Straightener $19.99, get back $10 RR = $9.99 *EDIT - ringing up as $12.99 so $2.99 after RR's

Eureka! I Haz Found Them!

CVS - my card
  • Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55 $1.99
  • Twix bar $0.67
  • Used $2 EB, total was $0.66

At another store, I found a second one:

  • Neutrogena $1.99, got back $10 EB for buying 2 Neutrogena items = $6.02 profit

DBF's card

  • 2 Neutrogena $1.99 each, got back $10 EB = $6.02 profit
  • Used $3 EB, total was $1.05

The Neutrogenas are very hard to find. I went to six different stores and found one lonely bottle at one store and three at another. Places to check: facial care aisle, sunscreen aisle, seasonal aisle, "special" makeup display area at front of stores, on the top of aisles in baskets or bins and on endcaps. There's just no predicting where and if you'll find these little guys, but if you do, its worth it!

Walgreens

  • Posture D Calcium $8.99, got back $9 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Bayer Quick Release Crystals (4 ct.) $2.49, got back $2.50 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit

A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That...

CVS - my card
  • Sun/Mon Only: Clearasil Stayclear Face Wash $3.99, used $1 coupon (4/19 SS) and got back $3.99 EB (Limit 1) = $1 profit

  • Colgate Total Advanced toothpaste (4 oz.) $2.99, used (5/10 SS or 4/17 All You magazine) and got back $2 EB (Limit 1) = FREE
  • Used $9 EB and $10 EB, total was...I'm not really sure! One of the Band Aids I bought did not ring up on sale, so the manager did a return, a rebuy and then manually printed the EB's for me. Looking over the receipts, I think he jipped me a dollar or so. :(

CVS - DBF's card - my total was negative about $4, which was really weird. I realized now that the cashier only rang up one of my Speed Sticks. I'm going to bring it back and see if I can exchange it for all the filler candy I bought.

  • Sun/Mon Only: Clearasil Stayclear Face Wash $3.99, used $1 coupon (4/19 SS) and got back $3.99 EB (Limit 1) = $1 profit

  • Colgate Total Advanced toothpaste (4 oz.) $2.99, used $0.50 coupon (5/10 SS) and got back $2 EB (Limit 1) = $0.49
  • Edy's Max ice cream $2, used $1 coupon (tearpad coupon found at CVS or WAGs) = $1
  • 4 Snickers bars and 2 Twix bars $0.67 each - these were all fillers because my total was negative by about $4
  • Used $5 off $30 coupon, $5 EB, $5 EB and $9 EB, total was $0.09

Walgreens

  • Tena underwear $11.99, got back $2 RR and will submit for Try Me Free rebate (4/26 SS) = $2 profit
  • Ramen noodles $0.29
  • Used $10 RR and $2 RR, total was $0.28

Rinse and repeat - rebate at DBF's address

Then at another store I went a little hog wild spending some RR's

  • Tena underwear $11.99, got back $2 RR and will submit for Try Me Free rebate (at parent's address, 4/26 SS) = $2 profit

  • Ramen noodles $0.29
  • Used $6 RR and five $10 RR's, total was $5.98

I liked the price on the glucosamine so much I got me some more!

  • 2 Finest Naturals Glucosamine pills clearanced to $13.49 each, BOGO sale
  • Walgreens sandwich bags $0.99 with in-circular coupon
  • Ramen noodles $0.29
  • Used $4.50 RR and $10 RR, total was $0.34

Rite Aid - used a raincheck from last week for this price

  • 4 Renuzit Super Odor Neutralizers $0.99 each, used four $1 coupons (5/17 SS) = $0.04 profit
  • M&M's cookies $0.59
  • Total was $0.83
Pathmark

  • Milk $2.49
  • 3 Hunts ketchups $0.99 each, used three $0.20 coupons (5/10 SS) = $1.77 or $0.59 each
  • Used three $5 cats, total was $0.56

One of the cats wouldn't scan and the cashier gave me some nonsense about only using one "store coupon" per transaction. Cats are manufacturer's coupons anyhow and I knew that wasn't true. I paid with her, then went over to Customer Service, who gave me back $10 in exchange for two $5 cats.

Did You Know Deodorant Melts in the Sun?

Well technically, I also knew this, but in keeping with my "I'm an idiot" theme of the week, I didn't think that leaving a deodorant in my toasty warm car all day would pose any sort of problem. No worries, it was only 80 something degrees today. Sigh. The Right Guard leaked through the box and all into the plastic bag, all over my Colgate and other goodies. Now I have three Right Guard scented RR's. At least its a nice smell! lol
Walgreens
  • Right Guard Professional Strength Deodorant $5.99, used $2 coupon (from inside box of previous purchase of the aerosol spray) and got back $5 RR = $1.01 profit
  • Carefree pantiliners $0.99 with in-circular coupon, used $1 coupon (from magazine, gave this coupon first) = $0.01 profit
  • Colgate Visible White Toothpaste (4 oz.) $4.49, got back $4.50 RR = FREE
  • Bic Bonus Pack Lighter $2.99, used $1 coupon (5/17 SS) and got back $1 RR = $0.99

  • Gatorade $1 with in-circular coupon
  • Used $10 RR, total was $1.19

I am an Idiot, Part Deux

I can't even blame Twilight for this one. I got a full night's sleep last night and I still messed up. Sigh. A&P - I'm pickin' up what you're layin' down. No more catalina deals for me this week (unless I can find more Air Wicks). :)
Walgreens
  • Colgate Visible White Toothpaste (4 oz.) $4.49, got back $4.50 RR = FREE
  • Right Guard Professional Strength Aerosol Spray $5.99, used $2 coupon from yesterday, got back $5 RR = $1.01 profit
  • Bic Bonus Pack Lighter $2.99, used $1 coupon (5/17 SS) and got back $1 RR = $0.99
  • Used $10 RR, total was $1.41

I really needed these. Both my can opener and ice cream scoop were getting rusty and nasty.

  • Ice cream scoop $2
  • Can opener $4.79
  • Colgate Visible White Toothpaste (4 oz.) $4.49, got back $4.50 RR = FREE
  • Used $10 RR, total was $2.07

Now on to the idiotic moment of the day...A&P (are you surprised?)

  • 4 Country Crock spreads $5, used three $0.50 coupons and one $0.35 coupon (4/5 Unilever or 5/17 RP) = $1.30
  • 2 Wishbone dressings $2 each, used $1 coupons (5/17 RP) = $2 *I bought the right ones this time! However, this wasn't the problem...
  • 6 Ragu sauces $1.66 each, used six $0.60 coupons (5/17 RP) = $2.80
  • 4 Marcal toilet papers $1.09 each, used four freebie coupons (5/3 SS) = FREE
  • Total was $5.96

Got back $5 catalina for spending $15 on Unilever products (Wishbone and Country Crock) = $3 profit. I was expecting to get back a $5 catalina for the Ragu...but DUH on me (again)! Ragu IS a Unilever product so it was all part of the same promo. $0.96 for all that stuff is good enough for me though -- I'm leaving this one alone and moving on.

Then I bought a Shell $25 gift card and used a $10 catalina off a gift card I earned a couple weeks ago.

Earlier in the day I bought:

  • 2 Air Wick i-motion air fresheners $4.99 each, used two $4 coupons (4/26 or 5/17 SS) and got back $5 catalina for buying 2 = $2.32 profit (after tax)

I am an Idiot

Seriously dear friends, read on...
Walgreens
  • Colgate Visible White Toothpaste (4 oz.) $4.49, got back $4.50 RR = FREE
  • Right Guard Professional Strength Aerosol Spray $5.99, got back $5 RR = $0.99 ($1 Right Guard coupon in the 4/19 SS, I used all of mine up)
  • Used $10 RR, total was $1.20

I read about some Right Guards ringing up for $1.99 on HCW, but no luck with this one. No biggie though, its a good way to use my RR's and get almost all my money back. There's a $2 coupon inside the top of the box that I'll use another time (like my gaping froggie in the background? :p). Be careful opening the box, the coupon extends down into the box.

Later on I bought:

  • 2 Deerfield Park shredded cheeses $1.50 each with in-circular coupon
  • 4 Deerfield Park whipped cream cheeses $1.50 each with in-circular coupon
  • Used three $2 RR's, total was $3

A&P

  • 4 Country Crock spreads $5, used four $0.50 coupons (4/5 Unilever or 5/17 RP) = $1
  • 2 Wishbone Spritzers $2 each, used $1 coupons (5/17 RP) = $2
  • 6 Marcal toilet papers $1.09 each, used six freebie coupons (5/3 SS) = FREE
  • Total was $2.35

My Wishbone coupons beeped and the cashier overrode them. Then I was expecting to get back a $5 catalina for buying $15 worth of Unilever items and a $1 catalina for buying two Wishbones. Nothing printed. Hmm. Figuring I had messed up my math, I asked the self checkout cashier if I could return the items and get my coupons back. She said that she could just write me a raincheck for $6, which was fine by me. So I spent $3 and got back $6 in cats = $3 profit.

As I'm taking my pictures, I notice something. Can you spot the reason my cats didn't print? Look closely friends...feel free to whip out the magnifying glass and your smarty-pants hats if necessary.

Hmm, the last time I checked, "Ken's" was not a secret code for "we're out of stock of Wishbone so buy me instead you idiot." DUH on me! Me thinks I stayed up a little too late last night reading Twilight. Its the book's fault! My lack of sleep is a commonly known symptom of I-can't-put-the-darn'd-book-down-itis.

Sigh. I'm off to bed for some well needed rest.

Swamp Thang

New Jersey is really an amazing state. We have beaches, mountains, farmland, cities and even a swamp! DBF and I ventured into said swamp on Sunday to poke around, see the sights and hopefully not fall off the path and suffer through the rest of the day with a soggy bottom. This unfortunately happened to a friend of mine on a class trip to the swamp a millennia ago. Poor thing. Her soggy bottom was the target of much joking and laughter during the rest of the trip and is forever burned into my memory.

Some parts looked decidedly...swampy. I was very happy for the pathways that kept us just high enough off the murky bottom (yuck) but not so high that we couldn't see all the cool stuff. Look at all those decomposing leaves. Surprisingly, we saw some animal life when we first entered the swamp, and very little as we progressed further in. I guess these guys just love the attention.
I loved all the different kinds of vegetation. Everywhere you looked was green - except for that murky bottom of course.
Hey look everyone! A thistle! Isn't that a funny word? All I think of when I see that word is a poor little kid with a lisp trying to say it. I can hear him in my head now: Fissle. Thiffle. Tfissle. Poor little guy. What a cruel world it is to have words out there like thistle.
I love the way bark looks, especially up close.
And how cool are these tree roots? Notice that the ground here is very un-murky-like. Some areas of the swamp looked like the first couple pictures and others just looked like the woods.
This was also in an un-murky spot, otherwise I'm sure this tree would be untouched. I shall call it...The Love Tree.
I have a puzzle for all of you. We spotted this blobby looking thing in a tree. What is it? Anyone know?
Here's another one...
And now I will leave you friends, with a picture of a swamp ass. Hardy har har har!!

Somebody Stop Me!

Ok really, this really will be my last trip to Michael's for a long time. I promise. Pinky-swear. Cross my heart. Probably...

I went back to return the beading book I had bought previously and rebuy it or another one with a 40% off coupon. While I was looking, I found these other goodies on clearance. Then I found out that the coupons aren't good on books anyway. Figures.
  • Scrapbooking paper $14.99 and $12.99
  • Spacers $1.99
  • Beads $1.99, $1.99, $1.99 and $2.99
  • Beading book $19.95 (forgot to put in pic)
  • With the exchange, the total came to $41.70

Aren't these cool? I really like how the metal wraps around the bead.

ShopRite
  • 4 Ball Park franks $1.49 each, used two $1 off 2 coupons (5/17 RP) = $3.96 or $0.99 each
  • SR hot dog buns $0.99
  • Martins hamburger rolls $2.50
  • 4 Borden cheese singles $0.99 each
  • 2 Wise cheese doodles $1.49 each, used two $0.50 coupons = $0.98 or $0.49 each
  • Total was $12.19

A&P - thanks for the tip on these Amiyrah!

  • 2 Air Wick i-motion air fresheners $4.99 each, used two $4 coupons (4/26 or 5/17 SS) and got back $5 catalina for buying 2 = $2.32 profit (after tax)

Separate A&P

  • 2 Air Wick i-motion air fresheners $4.99 each, used two $4 coupons (4/26 or 5/17 SS) and got back $5 catalina for buying 2 = $2.32 profit
  • 4 Marcal toilet papers $1.09 each, used four freebie coupons (5/3 SS) = FREE
  • Total was $2.57

Then DBF bought same thing for me

Walgreens - we went in looking for some stuff to burn RR's on

  • 4 cases Diet Coke $12, used three $1 coupons and got Diet Coke Caffeine Free FREE with in-circular coupon = four for $9 or $2.25 each
  • Colgate Visible White Toothpaste (4 oz.) $4.49, got back $4.50 RR = FREE ($1 coupon here, didn't have any with me)
  • 2 packages Deerfield Farms shredded cheese $1.50 each with in-circular coupon
  • 2 containers Deerfield Farms whipped cream cheese $1.50 each with in-circular coupon
  • Diet Coke (not pictured) $1.59
  • Two 4x6 picture frames $5.19 each
  • Used $1 RR, $6 RR and two $10 RR's, total was $6.73

CVS

  • 7 papers = $14, used $4 EB and $10 EB

DBF found these frames in Walgreens as we were poking around. I love them!

You Have Spoken...And I Like It

"Everybody was Kung-Fu Fighting...HA! Those cats were fast as lightning...HA!"
"Show me Chuck Norris, I kick his azz"
Why iz you mocking me? I iz too cute for mocking.

Don't Leave Me Hanging

My youngest sister adopted this furry ball of fun while she was in college and christened him...Bootz. He was just adorable with that cute little face and adorable white paws. The whole family oohed and ahhed over his antics. Scampering around her apartment, playing with anything and everything and pitiful mini-meows. She adopted him at a younger age than I got my furballs and I was jealous of how little and how cute he was.

Now, I might just have to revise that thought a little.
.
.
.
.
.
Oh dear...

Look at those teeth! (my cats are unfortunately a bit jealous at this point, having been mostly de-toothed)
What on earth is happening here? Has Bootz been watching Thriller videos?
Is he singing? Screaming?
What do you think dear friends? I'm thinking these pics need some captions, lolcats style! Help me out...

If You Shop With Me...

...chances are you're gonna have to buy something for me. My sisters have learned this the hard way. With their help, today I was able to cash in 32 of the 40 coupons that I purchased on ebay. That leaves me just 8 more to use by the end of the month, which is totally manageable. If you're doing this deal as well, one idea for spending these RR's is to buy Tena underwear during the week of 5/24. They'll be $11.99, produce a $2 RR and there was a TMF rebate in the 4/26 SS. There are a bunch of rebates available too (check my upcoming deals posts for links). Other than that, go hog wild people! :) Feel free to buy something that's not on sale or if you're feeling especially saucy, don't even use a coupon! Woo!!
Before we jump into the Dr. Scholls (get it? "jump" in? hardy har har!), let's see what else I bought today:
  • Adorable neck travel pillow $9.99 - will be most helpful on road trips. Do we remember the ill-fated Assateague Island adventure?
  • Diet Coke for my sister (not pictured) $1.59
  • Used $10 RR, total was $2.39

At another store:

  • Roots of Nature $6, used $1 coupon and got back $6 RR = $1 profit
  • Maybelline Eye Makeup Remover $4.99
  • Ramen noodles $0.29
  • Used $10 RR, total was $0.66

The cashier tried to tell me I couldn't use both the $1 coupon and the RR. Every time I go to this store, they've invented a new policy on RR redemption. I stood there with my mouth hanging open for a second and then politely asked why that might be. She said because my total would be too low and the RR would beep. I said that I had figured my total out before tax and it should work. She said, ok we'll try it. Miracle of miracles, it worked! She was surprised and I was surprised (not for the first time) at this particular store's very nice, but so poorly informed cashiers.

I really needed this makeup remover. I've been using some Lumene eye makeup remover for sensitive skin and it burns! I'm talking, can't-open-my-eyes-for-a-minute-or-so-burns. And all I do is put some on a tissue, close my eye and wipe downwards. I'm not standing there rubbing the stuff back and forth. It even hurts if I use a q-tip to remove makeup from under my eyes -- it burns my under-the-eye skin. So much for "sensitive" eye care. I'm sure you all know how this works by now...

  • 2 Dr. Scholls inserts $10 each, used two $10 coupons (4/26 SS) and got back $10 RR (WYB 2, deal good until 5/30) = $10 profit

Rinse and repeat 15 more times (at a bunch of stores) = $160 profit total

I gave my sister a $10 RR to use on whatever she wanted (my other sister passed on my offer). She bought some yummy candy (Reeses and Dove) and got back a $1 RR, which she gave back to me to keep.

Just in case its a little hard to see, here are the "varieties" I've bought so far that have produced RR's: Gel Sport, Massaging Gel, Sport, Memory Fit, Tri-Comfort, Soft Expressions and Open Shoes (with bonus pedicure pack).
