Rebates, Wonderful Rebates...

This was an all-about-rebates kinda weekend! Here we go:
Walgreens - Saturday
  • 2 Garnier shampoos $3.99 each, used two $1 coupons from August Easy Saver booklet and two $1 coupons (7/20 SS or 8/24 RP)
  • These will count towards the Sept. ESR #12 (bought face lotion the day before for $12.99 - deal is spend $20, get $10 rebate so this puts me at the $20 mark)
  • Total was $4.54 and I'll get back $10 rebate

Different store - DBF's mom saved last week's coupon inserts for me so I had another John Frieda coupon I could use

  • 2 John Frieda stylers $6.49 each, BOGO 50% off sale and used $3 off 2 coupon (8/24 SS)
  • Total was $7.41 and got back $9 RR = $1.59 profit

Sunday Shopping:

CVS

  • 5 papers $1.50 each, $7.50
  • CVS trial size $0.99, used $2 CVS skincare coupon = $1.01 profit
  • 6 Suave body washes $2 each, BOGO sale, used three BOGO coupons (6/22 RP) and got back $4 ECB
  • Coupons used: $2 off $10, $2 CVS skincare, three Suave BOGO, $10 ECB
  • Total was $0.49 and got back $4 ECB for Suave
Walgreens - went to three different stores and had DBF do two of the five transactions

Store #1, I bought:

  • 3 Gilette satin care/series shaving cream $1.99 each, used three $1 coupons (8/3 P&G or 8/31 P&G) and got back $3 RR = FREE
  • 3 Nestle candy bars 3 for $1 w/in-circular coupon (these so didn't make it to picture taking time!) - realized just now they didn't ring up right. Should've been $1, but it was $1.34.
  • 2 Garnier face lotions $12.99 each, used $2 off 2 coupon (got from WAG catalina machine on previous transction) - count towards ESR #12 (get $10 WYB $20 worth)
  • Coupons used: three $1 Gilette, $2 Garnier, three $9 RR's
  • Total was $3.55 and got back $3 for Gilette and will get back $11 rebate for Garnier ($10 + 10%)

Store #1, DBF bought:

  • 3 Gilette satin care/series shaving cream $1.99 each, used three $1 coupons (8/3 P&G or 8/31 P&G) and got back $3 RR = FREE
  • 2 bags kettlecorn $1.98
  • Loreal anti-wrinkle concentrate $16.49, used $3 coupon (7/20 SS) and will get back $18.13 ($16.49 + 10%) ESR #3 = $4.65 profit
  • Coupons used: three $1 Gilette, $3 Loreal, two $9 RR's
  • Total was $2.15 and got back $3 RR for Gilette and will get back $18.13 for Loreal

Store #2, I bought:

  • 3 Gilette satin care/series shaving cream $1.99 each, used three $1 coupons (8/3 P&G or 8/31 P&G) and got back $3 RR = FREE
  • Dozen eggs (forgot to put in pic) $1.50
  • 4 WAG sandwich bags $0.99 each, $3.96 for four
  • Pringles $0.99
  • Coupons used: three $1 Gilette, $9 RR
  • Total was $1.12 and got back $3 RR for Gilette

Store #2, DBF bought:

  • 3 Gilette satin care/series shaving cream $1.99 each, used three $1 coupons (8/3 P&G or 8/31 P&G) and got back $3 RR = FREE
  • Total was $3.39 and got back $3 RR

Store #3

  • 3 Gilette satin care/series shaving cream $1.99 each, used three $1 coupons (8/3 P&G or 8/31 P&G) and got back $3 RR = FREE
  • Lypsyl lip gloss $1.99, will get back $2.18 ($1.99 + 10%) ESR #6 = $0.19 profit
  • Nivea body wash $4.99, used $1 coupon (7/20 SS) and will get back $5.48 ($4.99 + 10%) ESR #2 = $1.49 profit
  • Itsy bitsy candy bar (last coupon wouldn't go through b/c I was hitting the tax) $0.59
  • Coupons used: three $1 Gilette, $1 Nivea, $9 RR
  • Total was $1.35 and got back $3 RR and will get back $7.66 in rebates

And here's what I got at Rite Aid. This one's a little confusing so I'm listing it separately from everything above:

  • 6 Bic markers 3 for $0.99, used three $1 off 2 coupons (8/3 or 8/10 SS) = $1.02 profit
  • Pantene Expressions shampoo $4.99, used $1 in-circular coupon and $2 coupon (8/31 P&G) and will get back $1.99 (SCR #31) = FREE
  • Pantene Expressions conditioner $4.99, used $1 in-circular coupon and $2 coupon (8/31 P&G) = $1.99
  • Pantene styler $3.50, used freebie coupon (8/31 P&G) = FREE
  • 3 Crest Pro Health rinses $4.99 each, used $1 coupon (8/31 P&G) and will get back $10 SCR #602 = $1.97 after rebate
  • Oral B Advantage toothbrush $2.99, used $1 coupon (8/3 P&G) and will get back $2 SCR #86 = FREE
  • Crest toothpaste $2.49, used $1 coupon (8/3 P&G) and will get back $1.74 SCR #2 = $0.25 profit
  • Total was $20.93 and I'll get back $15.73 in rebates

Now here comes the fun part! In addition to the individual rebates I listed above, these items all count towards other September rebates as well! All of the items above (except for the Bic markers, these were just freebies for the week) are P&G items and therefore qualify for SCR #75 (spend $30 of P&G products, get a $10 Rite Aid gift card). My total of P&G products equals $33.93 so I'll get this $10 gift card.

Also, the Pantenes qualify for SCR #24 (get a Modella cosmetic bag plus $25 in coupons when you purchase $25 of hair care/skincare/cosmetic items). I had planned on buying the Loreal Anti-Wrinkle concentrate at $14.99 (use $3 coupon and $3 coupon 7/20 SS) - but I couldn't find it in the two stores we went to. I'm going to do some hunting tomorrow to find it. Then I'll get back $14.99 for the Loreal (SCR #21 = $6 profit) and will round out SCR #24.

AND, I'm going to also submit all these receipts (once I get my RA check) here for a $20 ebags gift certificate! So, after I buy the Loreal, I'll have spent $29.92 and I'll be getting back $25.73 in rebates PLUS the Modella bag PLUS the $20 ebags gift certificate! That's what I call a moneymaker!!

Oodles of Free Frieda...

Petsmart - 7 packages of cat treats $1.69 each, used 7 freebie coupons (8/3 RP) = $0.95 (tax)
Walgreens - dragged my 2 sisters to 2 different WAG's so I could maximize the John Frieda deal
Did this 5 separate times:
  • 2 John Frieda Luxurious Volume shampoo/conditioner/stylers (has to be the Luxurious Volume variety) $6.49 each, buy one get one 50% off sale - so after tax it works out to $9.73 for two
  • Then use a $3 off 2 coupon (8/24 SS)
  • Total is $7.41 and you get back $9 RR = $1.59 profit

Counting the two $9 RR's from this morning, I now have $63 in RR's to use, which is great b/c I totally wiped out my gift cards today buying rebate items. Now I can buy a second set of rebate items to do under DBF's name and I'm sure I can find lots of other goodies to use the RR's on. Just a reminder - RR's are usually only good for 2 weeks so you have to use them fast.

I Made $16 Today!

CVS
  • 2 V8 Splash juices $5, used $1 off 2 coupon (8/17 SS)
  • 2 bottles Pepsi $2
  • 20 oz. bottle Diet Pepsi Max (free WYB 2 bottles Pepsi) = FREE
  • 5 boxes Malt o Meal cereal $1 each, used five $1 coupons here or here = FREE
  • CVS trial size $0.99, used $2 CVS skincare coupon = $1.01 profit
  • 2 Revlon nail polishes $4.49 each, BOGO sale, used $2 Revlon CVS coupon (from scanner) and two $2 coupons (7/20 or 8/24 SS) = $1.51 profit
  • Coupons used: $2 off $10, $2 CVS skincare, $1 V8, three $2 Revlon, 5 $1 Malt o Meal
  • Total was $1.97 - is it crazy that this feels super high to me?!? I'm so used to spending under $1 that my eyes jumped out of my head at this total. I had figured the nail polishes were going to be $3.49 each, so that threw off my calculations.

ShopRite

  • Wholesome goodness cat food $0.99, used freebie coupon (got with sample from walmart.com) = FREE
  • 3 San Giorgio pastas $0.77 each
  • Total was $2.33 after $0.05 bag discount

Now onto the main event...Walgreens! I'm so excited about this one. The stars and planets aligned and gave me a beautiful set of helpful and coupon friendly cashiers and the stores were well stocked. I borrowed this deal from dancinmama and had to adjust it slightly to use up a $4 RR and a $5 RR I had. It went almost perfectly to plan:

First Store:

  • 4 Glade plug in warmers $4.79 each, BOGO sale, used two $4 coupons (8/3 SS) and BOGO coupon (8/24 SS) AND will get back $4.40 ($4 + 10%) in rebates (Sept #34) = $7.21 profit
  • Chemistry shampoo $7.99, used $3 coupon (from August Easy Saver book) and will get back $8.78 ($7.99 + 10%) in rebates (Sept #5) = $3.79 profit
  • Loreal Advanced Revitalize Anti-Wrinkle concentrate 0.1 oz $12.36, used $3 coupon (7/20 SS) and will get back $13.59 ($12.36 + 10%) in rebates (Sept #3) = $4.23 profit
  • Revlon nail polish $4.49, used $2 coupon (7/20 or 8/24 SS) and will get back $4.93 ($4.49 + 10%) in rebates (Sept #7) = $2.44 profit
  • Nivea men's body wash $4.99, used $1 coupon (6/8 RP or 7/20 SS) and will get back $5.48 ($4.99 + 10%) in rebates (Sept #2) = $1.49 profit
  • 2 John Frieda Luxurious Volume shampoos $6.49 each, BOGO50% off, so $9.73 for two, used $3 off 2 coupon (8/24 SS) and got back $9 RR* = $2.27 profit
  • Lypsyl lip gloss $1.99, get back $2.18 ($1.99 + 10%) in rebates (Sept #6) = $0.19 profit
  • Garnier lotion $12.99, used $1 coupon (5/11 or 8/24 RP), counts towards Sept. rebate #12 (Buy $20 of Garnier, get $10 back). I'll buy more Garnier throughout the month.
  • 3 Smuckers jellies 3 for $5 w/in-circular coupon, used $1 off 3 coupon (8/24 RP) = $4
  • Was going to buy WAG Brita filter for $6.99, but they didn't have any in the store, so I bought 2 bags of Tostitos = $7
  • Coupons used: $10 off $40, $4 RR and $5 RR plus all the ones above
  • Total was $37.82 (paid w/gift card so OOP = zero) and after the $9 RR and $39.36 in rebates (plus another $10 when I finish the Garnier deal), I made $5.13!

*The sale is buy 2, get $5 RR or buy 3 and get $9 RR. But since the registers ring up each item on a line and then another line for the 50% discount, the system "thinks" you're buying 3 items and gives you $9 RR!

Second Store:

  • 4 Glade plug in warmers $4.79 each, BOGO sale, used two $4 coupons (8/3 SS) and BOGO coupon (8/24 SS) AND will get back $4.40 ($4 + 10%) in rebates (Sept #34) = $7.21 profit
  • Chemistry shampoo $7.99, used $3 coupon (from August Easy Saver book) and will get back $8.78 ($7.99 + 10%) in rebates (Sept #5) = $3.79 profit
  • 2 John Frieda Luxurious Volume shampoos $6.49 each, BOGO50% off, so $9.73 for two, used $3 off 2 coupon (8/24 SS) and got back $9 RR = $2.27 profit
  • Total was $10.42 and after $9 RR and $13.18 in rebates = $11.76 profit!

Happy Day!

Ooh, this hound is one excited pup! Erica now has yet another fabulous website: iheartwags.com!

The Best Things in Life are Free(bies!)...

REMINDER - since its a holiday weekend, there will be only one coupon insert - the P&G insert. You can check Taylortown to see if you want any of the coupons and if its worth it for you to buy the paper.

As always, my deals all come from the wonderful folks at HCW and Erica at iheartcvs.com and iheartriteaid.com (and very seldomly, from my very own noggin'!). If I've missed anything, please let me know! You can post a comment or email me at frugalsuz@hotmail.com. Here we go...

CVS - *the $2 CVS skincare Q expires 8/31 and you can print a $2 off $10 coupon on iheartcvs.com

  • Kiss or Broadway artificial nails buy two and get $5 ECB - prices start at $1.99 (limit 1) = $1.02 profit
  • Atkins bars $1, use $1 Atkins Advantage Bar coupon (6/1 SS) = FREE
  • Suave products - buy $6 worth, get $2 ECB (limit 5), body wash is $2/bottle and use BOGO coupon (6/22 RP). Buy three bottles = $6, minus $3 in BOGO coupons = $3 and get back $2 ECB = $1 for three body washes
  • CoverGirl Wetslicks $5.99, use $1 coupon (8/3 P&G *expires 8/31 or 8/31 P&G) and get back $5.99 ECB = $1 profit
  • Colgate toothpaste $2.99, use $1.50 coupon or from All You magazine and get back $2 ECB (limit 2) = $0.51 profit

Rite Aid - its the start of the September SCR's - valid from 8/31 - 9/27

  • Bic Markers 3 for $0.99, use $1 off 2 coupon (8/3 SS) = FREE *Buy 3 to get $0.99 price

Hmm, I wonder if you bought 6 markers, could you use three coupons? That would give you $1 overage...

  • *Buy on 8/31: Oral B advantage toothbrush $2.99, use $1 coupon (8/3 P&G *Expires 8/31!) and get back $2 (SCR #86) = FREE
  • Crest Toothpaste $2.49, use $0.75 coupon (upcoming 8/31 P&G) or $1 coupon (8/3 P&G - expires 8/31) and get back $1.74 (SCR #) = FREE or $0.25 profit w/$1 Q
  • Garnier fructis shampoo 2 for $7, use two $2 Garnier coupons (from Dollar General) and get back $3 (when you buy 2) (SCR #30) = FREE
  • L'oreal Advance Revitalift Anti Wrinkle Concentrate $14.99, use $3 coupon (7/20 SS) and $3 RA coupon and get back $14.99 (SCR #21) = $6 profit *Might also count towards SCR #24 as skincare.
  • Pantene Expressions $4.99, use $2 coupon (upcoming 8/31 P&G) and $1 in-circular coupon and get back $1.99 (SCR #31) = FREE

Triple Dip alert: Since Pantene is a P&G product, it should count toward SCR #75: $10 RA gift card with $30 P&G purchase AND toward SCR #24: Modella cosmetic bag (worth $25) and $25 in manufacturer's coupons when you purchase $25 of hair care/skincare/cosmetic items. Here's a great scenario from a poster called "jesusisprecieux" at HCW:

For SCR #75 (buy $30 of P&G products, get $10 RA gift card) buy:

  • Crest Toothpaste $2.49, use $1 coupon (8/3 P&G) and get back $1.74 (SCR#2) = $1.49 OOP, FREE after rebate
  • 3 Crest Pro Health $4.99 x 3 = $14.97, use three $0.75 coupons (8/31 P&G) and get back $10.00 (SCR #602) = $12.72 OOP, $2.72 after rebate
  • Pantene Expressions Shampoo $4.99, use $2 coupon (8/31 P&G) and $1 in-circular coupon get back $1.99 (SCR #31) = $1.99 OOP, FREE after rebate
  • Pantene Expressions Conditioner $4.99, use $2 coupon (8/31 P&G) and $1 in-circular coupon = $1.99 OOP (no rebate on this one - limit is one) or $2.99 if store won't allow you to use second in-circular coupon
  • Pantene Styling product $4.99, use freebie coupon WYB Pantene Expressions Shampoo/Conditioner (8/31 P&G) = FREE
  • Oral B Advantage Toothbrush $2.99, use $1 coupon (8/3 P&G) and get back $2 (SCR #86) = $1.99 OOP, $0.01 profit after rebate
  • Total OOP at the store will be $20.18 ($21.18 if you can't use two circular Q's for Pantene), actual OOP (after rebates) will be $4.70 ($5.70 if you can't use Pantene coupons) and you'll get a $10 RA gift card = $4.29 or $5.29 profit

For SCR #24 (Free Modella Bag and coupons w/$25 purchase)

  • Pantenes from above count towards this deal, so you'd only have to buy:
  • Loreal Revitalift $14.99 and use $3 coupon (7/20 SS) and $3 RA coupon and get back $14.99 (SCR #21) = $6 profit
  • Total OOP at the store will be $8.99, actual OOP (after rebates) will be -$6 and you'll get a handy, dandy, FREE bag!

AND (if you can believe it, there's more!) submit your receipt here for a $20 ebags gift certificate!

Walgreens

*Buy on 8/29 or 8/30 (this week, just wanted to remind you): Chemistry Shampoo $7.99, use $3 coupon (from August ESR booklet - Q expires 8/30) and get $7.99 rebate back (Sept. ESR #5) = $3 profit

  • Gilette Satin Care/Series shaving cream $1.99, use Gilette Q from 8/3 P&G or upcoming 8/31 P&G - buy 2 get $1 RR, buy 3 get $3 RR. My coupons were $1 each, so I'm going to buy 3, use three $1 coupons, pay $3 and get back $3 RR = FREE (thanks dancinmama for the deal!)
  • Cover Girl makeup BOGO sale, should be BOGO coupon coming in 8/31 P&G = FREE
  • Excedrin 24 count $1.99, use $2 Excedrin PM coupon (6/8 or 7/13 SS) or Excedrin Migraine coupon here and get back $1 RR = $1 profit

Below are some of the September monthly deals - these are good from 8/29 - 9/27. If you're not in a rush for any of these items, I'd suggest waiting for a $5 off $20 WAG coupon to buy them.

  • Nivea for Men Body Wash $4.99, use $1 coupon (6/8 RP - expires 8/31/08 or 7/20 SS - expires 9/30/08) and get back $4.99 rebate (Sept. ESR #2) = $1 profit
  • Revlon Nail Color or Nail Care $4.79, use $2 coupons (7/20 or 8/3 SS) and get back $4.79(Sept. ESR #7) = $2 profit

  • Visine 0.5 oz ~$3.49 or $3.99, use $2 coupon from Sept. Easy Saver booklet (page 10) and $3 coupon from the All You magazine (found in Walmart checkouts) = FREE or profit, depending on store's policies on overage
  • Walgreens brand Brita filter $6.99, $6.99 ESR = FREE

CVS & RiteAid

Reminder - all of the August P&G coupons expire on 8/31. If you were lucky enough to get the $1 Gilette Satin Care shaving cream coupon, there are trial sizes of this shaving cream for $0.99 out there (I get mine at CVS) and this is a great way to get some free shaving cream. :)

Started off the day with a quick Rite Aid run - spent $2.40 cash and I'll get back $9.98 in rebates = $7.58 profit!
  • Pert Plus $2.99, used $2 coupon (6/29 SS) and will get back $2 (SCR #94) = $1.01 profit and I found two bottles with "Try Me Free" stickers on them so I'll submit for the Pert rebate as well = $4 profit all together
  • Bought second bottle to do under DBF's name. The rebate form for this one was lying next to the bottle, and I just realized the Simply Fresh variety doesn't qualify for the manufacturer rebate, so I'll have to exchange this tomorrow.

CVS - I really love the Garnier face lotion and at $12.99 a pop, I'm always on the hunt for a great deal. The deal this week is spend $15 on Garnier/Maybelline, get $5 ECB and there's a limt of 5. I also had a bunch of high value ECB's to use up, so I thunked up myself this little deal. ($2 off $10 and $2 CVS skincare coupon are available on iheartcvs.com) Here's what I did:

1st Transaction:

  • Garnier lotion $12.99, used $1 coupon (5/11 RP)
  • Garnier mousse $3.34, used $1 coupon (6/22 RP)
  • 2 Softsoap hand soaps $0.99 *be careful - rang up $1.50 instead of $0.99, cashier had to manually adjust price
  • CVS trial size $0.99, used $2 CVS skincare Q
  • Coupons used: $2 off $10, $2 CVS skincare, two $1 Garnier, $10 ECB, $3 ECB
  • Total was $0.39 and got back $5 ECB for Garnier

2nd Transaction:

  • Garnier lotion $12.99, used $1 coupon (5/11 RP)
  • Garnier mousse $3.34, used $1 coupon (6/22 RP)
  • CVS trial size $0.99, used $2 CVS skincare Q
  • 2 V8 Splash juices (these are really yummy) 2 for $5, used $1 off 2 coupon (8/17 SS)
  • Coupons used: $2 off $10, $2 CVS skincare, two $1 Garnier, $1 V8, $10 ECB and $5 ECB
  • Total was $0.48 and got back $5 ECB for Garnier

I did this on my way into work and as I'm driving in, I'm thinking, hmm, wait a minute. The lotion is $12.99 and the mousse is $3.34. I only need to spend $15 to get my $5 ECB, so I might have a little overage to use for a third transaction. Here's the math: $12.99 x 2 plus $3.34 x 2 = $32.66. That's $2.66 overage, so if I get another lotion at $12.99, I can earn another $5 ECB! Three guesses where I went on my lunch...

3rd Transaction:

  • Garnier lotion $12.99, used $1 coupon (5/11 RP)
  • CVS trial size $0.99, used $2 CVS skincare Q
  • Pretzels $0.99
  • 2 Malt o Meal cereals $1 each and you can print $1 coupons here or here = FREE
  • Coupons used: $2 off $10, $2 CVS skincare, $1 Garnier, two $1 cereal Q, $5 ECB from earlier today and $5 ECB
  • Total was -$0.03 - cashier wouldn't adjust last coupon up three cents so I'd be at zero so I picked up a candy bar = $0.47 and got back $5 ECB

Since the cashier told me to get a candy bar, the calories don't count, right? Right?? lol They also had mini Softsoap samples - gotta love a freebie!

Jersey Shore

I spent the last several days at the NJ shore. It always amazes me how beautiful the ocean is. My family has gone down to the shore every year for almost 15 years, but I never get over how relaxing and beautiful the sound of the ocean is. I always hate to leave!

  • 5 Sobe Life Waters $1 each, used four freebie coupons (free when you buy 1 case of Pepsi) and got back $2 ECB = $1 profit
  • 2 packages Stayfree pads $4.50 each, used $1 coupon and BOGO coupon (6/29 RP) and got back $5 ECB = $1.50 profit

  • Total was $0.88

Great Deals

There have been a couple great deals posted today on other blogs I read. Here goes:

Couldn't Let those Bath Buddies Q's Go to Waste...

A couple weeks back, I thought there was going to be a great deal at CVS involving J&J bath buddies. I participate in a coupon exchange on the MSN message boards and I received a ton of these coupons from my houndfriends. The deal fell through, but I would hate to let all these Q's go to waste, so I've been trying to use them up before their 8/23 expiration date. I needed cat litter anyway, so I went over to Target:
  • 2 Tidy Cats cat litters $6.49 each, used two $1 coupons (6/29 SS)
  • 2 Tidy Cats litter pads $4.49 each, used two $1 coupons (6/29 SS)
  • 1 Mighty Dog food - used freebie coupon (8/10 SS) = FREE
  • 10 bath buddies $0.94 each, cashier pushed coupons through for $1 each so $0.60 profit
  • Total was $19.60 - ouch! But at least I'm set on litter for a while. I've been trying to find a deal on this stuff, but I've had no luck. I can't even find this litter in pet stores - isn't that weird?!?

CVS

  • 6 bath buddies $0.99 each = FREE
  • CVS trial size $0.99, used $2 CVS skincare Q = $1 overage
  • CVS pretzels $0.99 = FREE w/overage from skincare coupon
  • Total was $0.35

Different store:

  • 6 bath buddies = FREE
  • CVS trial size $0.99, used $2 CVS skincare Q = $1 overage
  • 2 bags popcorn 2 for $3
  • Used $2 off $10, total was $0.13

Very, Very Early Preview - Week of 8/24

I know its early, but the rest of my week is going to be insanely busy so I wanted to post the upcoming deals now while I have a chance.

CVS - don't forget about the $2 off $10 coupon on iheartcvs.com

  • NEW - buy any 2 CVS brand hand sanitizers, get $1 ECB. You can use the $2 CVS skincare coupon on these. The coupon beeps if you use more than one per transaction, so buy your 2 sanitizers separately. I'm not sure of the prices, but I think you should be able to find some that qualify for the deal around or under $2 each, so this should be free or a moneymaker.
  • NEW - Revlon makeup is BOGO, find cheapest items (probably nail polish) for around $3.50 and use two $2 coupons (7/20 or 8/3 SS or in upcoming 8/24 paper) = around $0.50 profit
  • Pepsi 4 cases for $12, get $3 ECB. Combine this with this Sobe Life Water coupon (free bottle for every case of Pepsi you buy) and you've got yourself a great deal. Sobe is on sale 5 for $5 and you get $2 ECB for every 5 you buy (limit 1). So buy 4 cases of Pepsi and 5 bottles Sobe, use four Sobe coupons and you'll be making $1 on the Sobe.
  • Kotex Lightdays pantiliners $1.49, get $1.49 ECB (limit 1) and use $1 coupon (All You magazine or here) = $1 profit
  • Carefree, OB or Stayfree 2 for $9, get $5 ECB. Buy 2 Stayfree pads and use BOGO coupon (6/29 RP) and $1 coupon here = $1.50 profit *Some folks have received Stayfree scanner Q's so keep an eye out.
  • Zipfizz $5.99, get $5.99 ECB (limit 2) = FREE (some kind of energy/vitamin drink)

Rite Aid

  • NEW - freebies after rebate: Duck brand EZ start clear tape $1.50 (#154), Soft & Beautiful No Lye Relaxer $6.99 (#91)
  • NEW - Pledge dusters/refills 2 for $4, use two $1 coupons (7/20 SS) or $2 coupons (from dusters I bought previously) and get back $2 (when you buy 2) SCR #149 = FREE or $2 profit w/$2 Q's
  • Lysol Neutra Air BOGO sale, BOGO coupon in 7/13 SS = FREE
  • Pert Plus $2.99, use $2 coupon (8/3 SS) and get back $2 SCR #94 = $1.01 profit *Even better if you can find any bottles with "Try Me Free" stickers on them! Tip from emhalf - buy 2 bottles and use two $2 coupons to get two bottles for free. Here's the math: $2.99 x 2 = $5.98 - $2 Q - $2 Q = $1.98 and get back $2 rebate = $0.02 profit. Great deal if you use tons of Pert! Also keep in mind the Pert Plus/Sure and school supplies rebate form!
Walgreens - *September Easy Saver rebates start August 29 - lots of freebies/moneymakers using coupons this month!

  • NEW - *Deal good all of September - Visine 0.5 oz ~$3.49 or $3.99, use $2 coupon from Sept. Easy Saver booklet (page 10) and $3 coupon from the All You magazine (found in Walmart checkouts) = FREE or profit, depending on store's policies on overage
  • *This is a September rebate so buy on or after 8/29: Glade PlugIns scented oil warmers BOGO sale (2 for $4.79), use $4 coupon (8/3 SS), get back $1 each (Sept. ESR #34, limit 4 rebates). So buy 4 = $9.58 and use two $4 coupons (using more will create overage and I'm not sure if register will accept it) = $1.58 and get back $4 in rebates = $2.42 profit (even more if you can use more Q's) EVEN BETTER - there are BOGO coupons coming out in the 8/24 paper for these. So...if your store lets you do this (and there's no reason why they shouldn't, but you know how these things go), you could get four for free (BOGO sale plus two BOGO coupons) and get back $4 in rebate = $4 profit!
  • Reach toothbrushes 2 for $2, use two $1 coupons (6/8 RP) = FREE

NEW - dancinmama specials - thanks dancin! :)

  • *Buy on the 29th, 30th or 31st: Chemistry Shampoo $7.99, use $3 coupon (from August ESR booklet) and get $7.99 rebate back (Sept. ESR #5) = $3 profit

The following are September monthly deals - so they're good all month long:

  • Nivea for Men Body Wash $4.99, use $1 coupon (6/8 RP - expires 8/31/08 or 7/20 SS - expires 9/30/08) and get back $4.99 rebate (Sept. ESR #2) = $1 profit
  • Revlon Nail Color or Nail Care $4.79, use $2 coupons (7/20 or 8/3 SS) and get back $4.79(Sept. ESR #7) = $2 profit
  • Loreal Advanced Revitalift Antiwrinkle Concentrate $16.49, use $3 coupon (7/20 SS) and get back $16.49 (Sept. ESR #3) = $3 profit

Putting that Be Fine Overage to Good Use...

I think I'm done with the Be Fine Q after today's deals. I'm exhausted from planning deals, picking everything out in the store and then going to pay only to find out the store won't take the coupon. I've gone to three different RA's and been allowed to use the Q at two out of the three stores. One store allowed me to use it, then didn't allow me on another transaction, then allowed me on the third transaction (different days, different cashiers). Frankly, I'm beat! :)

RA #1
  • 2 Be Fine trial sizes $1.99 each, used two $5 Be Fine coupons (from booklet) = $6.02 overage
  • 8 St. Ives Elements cleaners/face scrubs $6.99 each, BOGO sale and used 4 BOGO coupons (8/10 SS) = FREE *These are with the facial care stuff (not body wash)
  • 2 Garnier stylers $6
  • Total was $2.66 - just the tax. In retrospect, I should have used two $1 Garnier coupons, but at the time, I was thinking my total would be lower and using these coupons would have brought me into the negative. I was surprised at how much the tax was on this transaction, but its still a great deal for all this stuff.

RA #2

  • 2 Be Fine trial sizes $1.99 each, used two $5 Be Fine coupons (from booklet) = $6.02 overage
  • Act mouthwash $3.99, used $1 coupon (8/3 SS) = $2.99
  • 2 St. Ives Elements cleaners/face scrubs $6.99 each, BOGO sale and used 1 BOGO coupon (8/10 SS) = FREE
  • 4 Lipton sides $0.99 each, used two $0.75 off 2 coupons (8/17 RP) - rounded out SCR #133
  • Total was $0.48

Walgreens - needed to use up two $5 RR's expiring this week

  • 3 mailing envelopes $0.39 each w/circular Q
  • Bioinfusion shampoo $5.99 - FREE after rebate #4 plus 10% bonus for gift card
  • WAG pads $2.99
  • Total was $0.65

My Pantry is FULL!

Today was all about food! Here's how it went:

Petsmart
  • 6 cans Mighty Dog food (to donate) $0.59 each, used 5 freebie coupons (8/10 SS) = FREE
  • Purina cat treats $1.69, used freebie coupon (8/3 RP) = FREE
  • Nutro cat food $8.99, used freebie coupon I got in the mail from doing previous rebate = FREE
  • The cashier was being a pain and put the Mighty Dog's in as the regular price ($0.62 each) instead of sale price, so he wouldn't take my 6th coupon. Sigh. My total was $1.44 ($1 tax). Not bad for all this pet food!
CVS - bought 6 papers, $12, used $11.58 ECB and paid $0.42 cash

Rite Aid - best score was all those coupon booklets! They had a huge stack in my store so I lightened their load considerably. Now I have oodles of $5 Be Fine coupons to use before the end of the week! I wonder how many I can put to good use...
  • Be Fine single pack $1.99, used $5 Be Fine coupon from booklet = $3.01 profit
  • Snickers bar $0.85
  • 2 Hellmann's mayo $1.99 each, used $1 off 2 coupon (8/17 RP) = $2.98 (counts towards SCR #133, spend $15 on Unilever food, get $5 SCR)
  • Total was $1.02

DBF bought:

  • Be Fine single pack $1.99, used $5 Be Fine coupon from booklet = $3.01 profit
  • 6 Knorr sides $0.99 each, used three $0.75 off 2 coupons (8/17 RP) = $3.69 (counts towards SCR #133, spend $15 on Unilever food, get $5 SCR)
  • Total was $0.82

2nd Transaction - putting the Be Fine Q to good use! Went back to above store to do another Be Fine deal and the very same cashier from the morning wouldn't accept the very same Be Fine coupon she accepted in the morning without a problem. Ugh, so off to another store we went:

  • Be Fine single pack $1.99, used $5 Be Fine coupon from booklet = $3.01 profit
  • Crest toothpaste $2.99, used $1 coupon (8/3 P&G) and will get back $2.99 SCR #75 = $1 profit
  • 2 Knorr side dishes $0.99 each, used $0.75 off 2 coupon (8/17 RP) = $1.23 (counts towards SCR #133, spend $15 on Unilever food, get $5 SCR)
  • Total was $0.56

DBF bought:

  • Be Fine single pack $1.99, used $5 Be Fine coupon from booklet = $3.01 profit
  • Crest toothpaste $2.99, used $1 coupon (8/3 P&G) and will get back $2.99 SCR #75 = $1 profit (second rebate on DBF's name)
  • Snickers bar $0.85
  • Total was $0.24

Walgreens - *Note - Pantene Expressions/Restoratives are NOT part of the 2 for $8 sale this week. The sale is for 12.6 oz bottles - these bottles are 13 oz. Darn!

  • 6 Skippy PB's $10, used three $1 off 2 coupons (8/17 RP) = $7 and got back $4 RR
  • 2 Bertolli dinners $5.99 each, used two $1.50 coupons (7/13 RP) = $8.98 and got back $5 RR
  • 5 bubble mailers $0.39 each w/circular coupon = $1.95
  • 2 Red Baron pizzas $5
  • Coupons used: four $5 RR's from previous week's Kellogg's deal, three Skippy Q's and two Bertolli Q's
  • Total was $3.07

A&P - thanks Heather for pointing out that today's Cheerios Q's weren't good on the regular Cheerios. I was able to adjust my deal before going out hounding. :)

  • 4 Nature Valley granola bars 4 for $6, used four $0.50 coupons (8/10 GM double to $1) = $2
  • 4 Chex Mix 2 for $3, used four $0.50 coupons (8/10 GM double to $1) = $2
  • 2 Yoplait Trix 2 for $5, used $0.75 off 2 coupon (8/10 GM double to $1.50) = $3.50
  • 3 Betty Crocker cookie mixes 3 for $5, used three $0.40 coupons (8/10 GM double to $0.80) = $2.60
  • 3 Betty Crocker potatoes $1 each = $3
  • 3 Betty Crocker Warm Delights 3 for $5, used three $0.50 coupons (7/13 SS, double to $1) = $2
  • 12 packets of Kool Aid singles $0.12 each = $1.50 - because I bought these, I was able to use the freebie coupons from the All You magazine to get the following items for free: 2 packages Oscar Mayer hot dogs ($4.49 each), Wheat Thins $3.79 and Crystal Lite $3.69
  • Total was $15.32 and I got back $8 in rewards. My subtotal before card savings and coupons was $75.23 - that's a savings of 60!

Free Juice and Other Odds and Ends

Amiyrah posted this awesome deal on the WIR boards a while back and I've been meaning to post it here as well. Text "FUSION" to 467467 and then follow the prompts (it asks you for your name and address). Guess what they'll send you? A coupon for a free bottle of V8 Fusion juice! This stuff is great and normally pricey, so this deal is awesome. The coupon is good until the end of October, so I'm hanging on to mine in the hopes they'll be a BOGO sale sometime in the future - then I could get 2 bottles for free. Thanks Amiyrah!
Sorry folks - this deal isn't working any longer. :(

Just a reminder that I keep a running list of printable rebate offers on my blog under the "Rebates" category on the right hand side of the page. I just added a new one for Kellogg's cereal.

Preview Week of 8/17

To give proper credit, my deals all come from the wonderful folks at HCW and Erica at iheartcvs.com and iheartriteaid.com. If I've missed anything, please let me know! You can post a comment or email me at frugalsuz@hotmail.com. Here we go...

A&P - there are lots of great deals this week. Here's what I worked up:
For the General Mills Spend $30, get $8 in rewards deal:

  • 4 boxes Cheerios 4 for $5, use four $0.75 coupons (double to $1.50) coming in Sunday's paper = free or $1 overage
  • 4 Nature Valley granola bars 4 for $6, use four $0.50 coupons (8/10 GM double to $1) = $2
  • 4 Chex Mix 2 for $3, use four $0.50 coupons (8/10 GM double to $1) = $2
  • 2 Yoplait Trix 2 for $5, use $0.75 off 2 coupon (8/10 GM double to $1.50) = $3.50
  • 3 Betty Crocker cookie mixes 3 for $5, use three $0.40 coupons (8/10 GM double to $0.80) = $2.60
  • 3 Betty Crocker potatoes $1 each = $3
  • Total will be $12.10 after coupons and I'll get back $8 in rewards - $4 for all this food - works for me!

For the Kraft Spend $30, Get $7 in rewards deal:

I picked up 5 copies of the current issue of All You magazine at Walmart today (found in check out aisles, not with magazines). This magazine is awesome and always has tons of really valuable coupons in it. It costs $1.97 each although mine rang up as $1.77. Inside on pg. 159 are great Kraft coupons: Free Kraft dressing, Wheat Thins, Crystal Lite or Oscar Mayer hot dogs when you buy 3 Kraft, Nabisco or Oscar Mayer products. These work really well with the A&P deals this week. Single packages of Kool Aid are 8 for $1 and this qualifies as a product to use for the freebie coupons. This is a great way to use these freebie coupons with very little OOP.

CVS - not really seeing much this week, which is fine with me. I can definitely use a CVS break after all the hounding I did on Sunday! :) Here are some "almost" freebies:

  • Revlon Lash Fantasy mascara $7.99, use $2 coupon (7/20 SS) or $1 coupon (8/3 SS) and get back $5 ECB (Limit 1) = $0.99 w/$2 coupon or $1.99 w/$1 coupon
  • Buy $10 worth of Band-Aid, Neosporin or Johnson & Johnson first aid stuff get $5 ECB (Limit 1), prices start at $0.99 (excludes Neosporin 1oz). There are tons of coupons out there -$1 Neosporin Product (5/18 RP, 6/22 RP, 7/27 SS), $1 Band-Aid Product (5/18 RP), $1 Band-Aid Ultra Strips (6/15 SS, 6/22 RP) so this may work out to be a good deal.

Rite Aid

  • NEW - Almost forgot about this! RA has coupon booklets out that are good until 8/23. I got mine in my paper, but they should also have them in the stores (check stands when you walk in store or with the cashiers). Here's what it looks like:

These are Rite Aid coupons, which means they can be combined with manufacturer's coupons. The coupon I'm really excited about is on the 4th page and is a $5 off any Be Fine skincare product. RA sells single serve face washes/scrubs (pic here) for $1.99 - which means this coupon will give you $3.01 overage! In my store, these are in their own display case near the shampoo (not with skincare). I think I'm going to use that to buy the toothpaste below and something else. Oh the possibilities!

NEW - decided what to do with my Be Fine overage. I may have to go to three stores b/c the Be Fine Q's say one per customer. I'll probably do one transaction, have DBF do second and head on to another store for third trans. Here goes:

  • Transaction 1: Be Fine $1.99, 3 Hellmann's $5.97, use $5 Be Fine Q and three $0.60 Hellmann's Q's = $1.16
  • Transaction 2: Be Fine $1.99, 6 Lipton sides $5.94, use $5 Be Fine Q and three $0.75 off 2 Lipton Q's = $0.68
  • Transaction 3: Be Fine $1.99, 2 Lipton sides $1.98, 1 Hellmann's $1.99 and candy bar around $0.50, use $5 Be Fine Q, one $0.75 off 2 Lipton Q and one $0.60 Hellmann's Q = around $0.11

That brings me to $15 (see details below), so I'll submit for the $5 SCR = $3.05 profit! yay!

  • NEW - St. Ives is BOGO. If you can find any of the Elements products that are included in the BOGO sale, use the BOGO coupon from the 8/10 SS and you've got yourself FREE St. Ives!
  • Crest Toothpaste $3.19, use $0.75 or $1 coupon (8/3 P&G) and get back $3.19 SCR #75 = $0.75 or $1 profit depending on your coupon value
  • L'Oreal Vive Pro Shampoo or Conditioner BOGO sale, use BOGO coupon (7/13 SS) and $1 coupon (6/8 SS, 7/13 SS) = FREE or $1.00 profit if your store will let you use both coupons
  • Honey Bunches of Oats BOGO sale, use freebie coupon from previous mail-in offer = two boxes for FREE
Thanks dancinmama for the deals below:

Buy $15 of Con Agra (Ragu, Lipton Tea, Hellmans/Best Foods Mayo - all $1.99 OR Lipton Sides for $0.99) and get a $5 SCR #133 (limit 1). Here are some ideas (you can also mix & match):

  • Lipton Sides: Buy 16 for $15.84 - (8) $0.75 coupons (5/18 RP or $0.75 off 2 coupons 8/17 RP - OOP higher) - $5.00 SCR = $4.84 OOP or approx. $.30/ea.
  • Ragu: Buy 8 for $15.92 - (4) $1.00/2 coupons (8/17 RP) - $5.00 SCR = $6.95 or $.87 ea. Not as good as the Walgreens deal below, but not everyone has a Walgreens.
  • Hellman's/Best Foods Mayo: Buy 8 for $15.92 - (8) $0.60 coupons (7/27 RP or 8/17 RP) - $5.00 SCR = $6.12 or $.77 ea.
  • Lipton Tea Mix: Buy 8 for $15.92 - (4) $1.00/2 coupons (7/27 RP or $0.75 off 2 in 8/17 RP - OOP slightly higher) - $5.00 SCR = $6.95 or $.87 ea.

Walgreens - thanks dancinmama for helping me with the Skippy & Ragu deals! :)

  • Skippy PB six for $10, use six $0.60 coupons (8/17 RP) and get back $4 RR = $0.40 a jar
  • Ragu sauce six for $10, use three $1 off 2 coupons (8/17 RP) and get back $4 RR = $0.50 a jar

*The Ragu and Skippy are part of the same deal so you can mix and match if your store doesn't have six of each. If you're going to buy 6 jars of Skippy and 6 jars of Ragu - I would do separate transactions just to be sure you get both RR's.

  • Pantene Pro-V two for $8, use $1 off 2 coupon (8/3 P&G) and get back $3 RR = $4. If the Restoratives and/or Expressions are included in the sale, there is a rebate of $5.99 when you buy two = $1.99 profit
  • Some things I'll be picking up using all of my RR's from the Kellogg's deal last week (not freebies, but good prices in my humble opinion): $0.39 bubble mailers (with in-circular coupon, limit 6), Red Baron pizzas two for $5 (love these!) and Bertolli frozen dinners (yum!) $5.99 each - two $1.50 coupons (7/13 RP) and get back $5 RR's when you buy two = $3.98 for two.

When the schnecken beckons...

Ahhh, sigh...who doesn't love The Birdcage? I was thinking of this movie today as I was stuck in traffic with "We are Family" playing on the radio. Here are some of my favorite parts...

Walgreens Tip

As I was buying my Pop Tarts & Special K bars and then again at a different WAG where I got the Glade, I overheard customers having the same discussion with managers - they'd bought some variation of the cereal items on sale this week...but they did not get any RR's, what gives? They'd both must have done this same deal earlier in the week because they'd used the $5 RR they'd earned previously to buy the cereal today. Here's why this didn't work:
  • Walgreens advertises that Register Rewards/RR's can be used like cash on your next transaction...but that's not really the case (dirty, stinkin' liars! lol). In actuality, RR's are manufacturer's coupons that are only good at Walgreens.
  • The catch is that you can't "roll" RR's. (Rolling is when you buy an item, it earns you a reward (ie. RR at WAG, ECB at CVS, etc.), and you turn around and use that reward to buy more of the same item...to get another reward - you CAN do this at CVS with ECB's, which is one of the reasons I love CVS so much.)
  • Since RR's are manufacturer's coupons, you can't use them to buy any items from that same company that are also generating RR's. This is what tripped up the folks tonight. They were using a Kellogg's RR to buy more Kellogg's. This would have been fine if the Kellogg's hadn't been producing RR's, but since its supposed to, the second set of RR's won't print. I know, its a pain.
  • However, you can use your RR's to buy something from another company. So I could use my Kellogg's RR's from today to buy Dove chocolates and the Dove RR would print without a problem.
  • You can also use your RR's to buy pretty much anything in the store - I like to use mine for groceries whenever possible. They're usually only good for two weeks or so, so I try to use mine ASAP so I don't forget about them.

Look at all those buddies!

I discovered last night that a bunch of my precious J&J Bath Buddies coupons are gonna expire in a couple weeks - we can't have that, can we?!? So, I decided it was time to use these puppies. I have so many because some wonderful and generous hounds on the WIR boards sent them to me for a deal a couple weeks back. That deal fell through, but the bath buddies are regularly priced at $0.99 at CVS and many other stores - so they're free with the coupons. Here are the links to the coupons: $1 coupons here and here and $2 off 2 coupons here and here

Walgreens
  • Glade fabric freshner $2.99, used $1.50 coupon from WAG August Easy Saver book and $1.50 coupon = $0.20 after tax
  • 6 Pop Tarts and 4 Special K bars, used three $1 off 2 Pop Tarts (8/3 RP) and four $1 Special K coupons = $14.98
  • Got back $10 RR ($5 for Pop Tarts and $5 for Special K) and I'll submit for the $10 rebate in the 8/3 RP = $5.02 profit!
CVS
First Transaction
  • 6 J&J Bath Buddies $0.99 each, used six coupons
  • Total was $0.42 (tax)
Second & Third Transactions - did this twice so I could use the $2 off $10 coupon twice :)
  • Folgers coffee twin pack *These are HARD to find! This was the 3rd store I looked in* $6.99, gives back $3 ECB (limit 2)
  • CVS hand sanitizer $0.99, used $2 CVS skincare coupon = $1.01 profit
  • 4 J&J bath buddies $0.99, used four coupons = FREE
  • Coupons used: four J&J, $2 off $10, $2 CVS skincare, $4 ECB
  • Total was zero and got back $3 ECB for Folgers

When I finished with the second transaction, the cashier (a young guy) looks up at me and says "wait a minute, did you just buy all the same stuff as you did before?" Yup, me replies. "Wow" - hardy har har, I was laughing to myself so hard. I really love teenage guy cashiers (assuming they're nice, of course) - they're so funny. :)

ShopRite

  • 2 Ken's dressing 8 oz. two for $2, used $1 off 2 coupon (8/3 SS) = two for $1

Coming Attractions...Week of 8/10

To give proper credit, my deals all come from the wonderful folks at HCW and Erica at iheartcvs.com and iheartriteaid.com. If I've missed anything, please let me know! You can post a comment or email me at frugalsuz@hotmail.com. Here we go...

ShopRite
  • NEW - Right Guard or Soft & Dri deodorant $0.99, use $1 coupon (7/13 SS) or upcoming $0.75 Soft & Dri coupon (8/10 SS) = FREE or overage if store allows
CVS
Don't forget to use the new $2 off $10 coupon available on iheartcvs.com (Printable Coupons link) - its good through September so be sure to print lots and lots of copies. :)
  • NEW - Roc Skincare But $30 get $10 ECB, cheapest item is $7.99 (Age Diminishing Facial Cleanser) Repeat this transaction four times: Roc $7.99 and CVS sunblock $2.19 = $10.18 and use $2 off $10, $2 off CVS Skincare, $1 Sunblock coupon and $5.00 IP for Roc or here (tip - you have to sign up for the newsletter to get it to print, hit back to print 2nd one) = $0.18 ($0.72 total) and get back $10 = $9.28 profit! Its unclear if the stores will let you use BOTH the $2 skincare and $1 sublock coupons, but even if they don't let you use the sunblock Q, you're still making a profit!
  • I've been thinking about this and I'm not sure the store will let me use the $2 CVS skincare coupon with the $1 sunblock coupon - so here's an alternate deal I thunkd up: Roc cleanser $7.99, CVS travel size skincare whatever $0.99 and 2 J&J bath buddies $1.98. Then use $5 Roc coupon, $2 off $10, $2 CVS skincare coupon and 2 J&J coupons. Total should be negative $0.04 - so zero. Repeat four times and you'll get yourself a $10 ECB. :)
  • Alavert $5.99, use $4 coupon (you can print multiple copies) and get back $3 ECB (limit 1) = $1.01 profit! I also got a $2 Alavert coupon from the scanner - so be sure to check your receipts for this!

Or use two of the BOGO printable coupons (from a while back, not available anymore unfortunately) combined with two of the $1.50 coupons (if your store will let you) and get 4 bags for $3 before ECB's = $2.00 profit!

  • Scott 4 pack of toilet paper $1.99 with in-circular coupon, use $0.75 coupon (7/27 SS) *Note - the coupon is for the extra soft tp, and I'm not quite sure if the extra soft is included in the sale - so we'll have to see how it goes. If it works = $1.25 for 4 pk. of tp - not too shabby

EDIT - just go to blockbuster.com and click on "Buy Movies" instead of going to the link she has listed. That's to sign up for their online membership, which is something different.
