Slow and Steady Wins the Olay

I had today all planned out. I was going to do my shopping early in the morning, then come home to enjoy a well-earned day off of doing nothing. I got up at eight, stretched and looked out the window to find that it was furiously snowing out. Arg! Although I don't love driving in snow, I'll do it if I have to. What always worries me are the two entrances to my apartment complex - two MAJOR hills. And I can never tell if they've plowed them until I'm out there. I listened to the weather forcast and they said it would stop snowing in the evening and turn to rain, so I figured I'd just do my shopping later on. It was today or never since I had a $10 catalina expiring today at ShopRite and Olay coupons I'd bought on ebay that also expire today. After poking around the house for an hour or two, I turned on the weather channel and they said it wasn't going to stop snowing until midnight! That wasn't much of a help, so I pulled on my gloves and coat, readied my coupons and headed out. The roads were still pretty snow covered, but it was the middle of the morning so there were few folks on the road. I got my shopping done and headed home, all in one piece. As soon as I got back inside, it stopped snowing. The entire afternoon was totally snow-free and the roads are perfectly clear. Figures!

Walgreens - I bought enough items for three rebates and I'll submit for one at my address, one at my boyfriend's and the final at my parents'
  • 2 Olay Regenerist Cleansers $7.29 each, 20% off sale so $5.83 each, used two $3 coupons (11/29 P&G *Expires 12/31) = $5.66
  • Total was $6.48 with tax, will submit for $15 rebate = $8.52 profit

This store only had one more of the cleansers, and there was no way I was driving out to the closest Walgreens, so I got the cleansing cloths instead. I really like these anyway - I have oodles of face wash but not too many cloths.

  • Olay Regenerist Cleanser $7.29, 20% off sale so $5.83, used $3 coupon (11/29 P&G *Expires 12/31) = $2.83
  • Olay Regenerist $9.99, 20% off sale so $7.99, used $3 coupon (11/29 P&G *Expires 12/31) = $4.99
  • Total was $8.79 with tax, will submit for $15 rebate = $6.21 profit

ShopRite

  • 2 Olay Regenerist Cleansing Cloths (smaller packages) $6.99 each, used two $3 coupons (11/29 P&G *Expires 12/31) = $7.98
  • King Arthur Bread Flour $3.59
  • Used $10 catalina, total was $2.50, will submit for $15 rebate = $7.02 profit

Yay for Carbs!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! My boyfriend, youngest sister and I helped my middle sister move into the condo she just bought down in VA. I'm pretty achy from lifting boxes up and down stairs, but luckily its done now. The ride home was miserable. It was supposed to take us around 4 hours, but it ended up dragging on for eight, grueling hours. The traffic was miserable and I was wiped by the time we got home late Sunday night. Yuck.ShopRite
  • Lettuce $0.99 - my store is finally marking down about-to-expire produce, yay!
  • 3 Fleisch's Yeasts $1.50 each
  • Gallon of Milk $2.59
  • SR Swiss cheese $2.15
  • Used $10 catalina, total was $0.23

Then I bought (can't use more than one of these cats at the same time):

  • Semolina flour $2.79
  • 2 packages bread flour $3.59 each
  • 2 bags Tostitos $2 each
  • Used $10 catalina, total was $5.56

A&P - the smallest container that ShopRite had of dry milk was at least triple this size - weird, huh?

  • Dry Milk $5.39

Why did I need all this flour you might ask? Because my hunny got me a bread machine for Christmas! My inner carbohydrate-addict is jumping for joy.

My first loaf is pretty simple, just a basic white bread. I just turned it on, and I'll have yummy bread for breakfast. This worked out perfectly since I just used up the last of the bread I had on hand.
My mom made me this beautiful quilt for Christmas. She started working on it when I moved into my apartment...back in 2005. My two sisters each have multiple quilts and my mom has whipped up quilts for baby showers left and right, but my quilt lay unfinished next to her sewing machine, slowly being buried under material scraps and fabric patterns. Finally, it is complete! :)

Snowed In

CVS - DBF's card **NOTE - don't buy these bonus packs of Nivea. They were marked as being part of the sale, but they rang up as $6.99 and didn't give us any EB's. The cashier manually printed the EB's and gave us back $2 cash.

  • Milk $1.89
  • Used green bag tag (got back $1 EB), $7.99 EB and $8.99 EB. I handed the cashier my $5 egift card and even though I told him it was a gift card, he rang it up as a $5 coupon. Total was $2.41
Walgreens - I was down to my last case of Pepsi. I have a can each morning when I get to work to wake me up. This was as pretty good of a soda sale as I've seen lately. The best deals are usually during the summer.

Converting RR's to Rebate Money

A big, big thanks to pubbler for posting about the Olay deal and getting my mind churning with ideas. Today didn't go quite as planned because most stores didn't have the cleansing cloths I wanted, so I had to improvise. My math was off a couple times too so I wasn't able to use as many RR's as I wanted.

Walgreens - I've been waiting until today to use up a bunch of RR's so I could combine them with the 15% friends and family discount. Here's what I did:

Transaction One
  • Gillette Fusion Razor $8.99 (reg price) $7.64 (15% off price), used $4 coupon (11/29 P&G) and got back $4 RR = $0.36 profit
  • Olay Regenerist Face Wash $7.29 (reg price) $6.20 (15% off price), used $3 coupon (11/29 P&G) = $3.20
  • 4 Geisha mushrooms $1.19 each (reg price) $0.85 each (15% off price) - used in-circular coupon which should have made these $0.39 each but it only deducted $1.04 off the total, making them $0.59 each - isn't that weird?
  • Used 15% discount, $2 RR, $2 RR and $5 RR, total was $0.82

Transaction Two

  • Gillette Fusion Razor $8.99 (reg price) $7.64 (15% off price), used $4 coupon (11/29 P&G) and got back $4 RR = $0.36 profit
  • Olay Total Effects face wash $9.99 (reg price) $8.49 (15% off price), used $3 coupon (11/29 P&G) = $5.49 *The coupon is for the Regenerist products only. I totally forgot this because I was looking for something for around $10. The coupon didn't beep, but YMMV.
  • 2 Geisha mushrooms $1.19 each (reg price) $0.85 each (15% off price), used in-circular coupon which took off $1.04 (again), so $0.42 each
  • 2 Votive candles $0.42 (15% off price), used in-circular coupon = $0.14
  • Used 15% discount, $2 RR, $2 RR and $5 RR, total was $1.72

Transaction Three

  • 2 Olay Regenerist Face washes $7.29 each (reg price) $6.20 each (15% off price), used two $3 coupons (11/29 P&G) = $3.20 each
  • Used 15% discount and $5 RR (forgot to get a filler but apparently I didn't even need it!), total was $1.92

Transaction Four

  • Olay Regenerist Cleansing Cloths $10.59 (reg price) $8.92 (15% off price), used $3 coupon (11/29 P&G) = $5.92
  • 3 bottles 7Up $1.99 each (reg price) $1.69 each (15% off price), used in-circular coupon = $0.85 each
  • Used 15% discount and $7 RR, total was $2.27

Transaction Five

  • Olay Regenerist Cleansing Cloths $10.59 (reg price) $8.92 (15% off price), used $3 coupon (11/29 P&G) = $5.92
  • 2 Votive candles $0.42 each (15% off price), used in-circular coupon = $0.14 each
  • Used 15% discount and $5 RR, total was $1.50

I will send away for the $20 Olay rebate (WYB $50 worth of facial moisturizers, cleansers or treatments, exp. 12/27/09). I was planning on buying the cleansing cloths, but since most stores didn't have them, I had to buy other items and I'm a smidge short of the $50 mark ($44.93). I didn't have any more coupons with me when I was out, so I'm going to buy one last face wash later today.

Best Buy - picked up The Hangover using a $25 gift card I bought a while ago.

Rite Aid - found a store with 4 more Prell! Now I can finish out my SCR's on both accounts.
  • 2 Prell shampoos $0.99 each (13.5 oz), will get back $2 for each (SCR #100, Limit 5) = $1.01 profit on each, $2.02 profit overall

This is One of Those Posts...

...where I'm sure you're thinking I've totally gone off the deep end, but hear me out.

ShopRite
  • Two $30 iTunes gift card multi-packs = $60
  • Got back a $10 catalina (WYB 2)

Repeated three more times. I'm going to sell the gift cards on ebay to recoup the money I spent. As long as I sell each multi-pack of cards for at least $27 or so, I'm happy. Plus this is 240 reward points on my credit card, which puts me closer to earning another gift card at CVS.

Planning some Walgreens shopping tomorrow?

Don't forget to print out your 15% Friends and Family discount coupon!

Deja Vu

Pretty much the same things I bought yesterday. I will send away for the Olay rebate at my parent's address and the Prell at DBF's address.

Rite Aid
  • 3 Prell shampoos $0.99 each (13.5 oz), will get back $2 (SCR #100, Limit 5) = $1.01 profit on each, $3.03 profit overall
  • 2 Olay body washes $5.99 and $7.49 each

  • Used $5 off $25 coupon, total was $10.47
These purchases bumped me from the $10 level to the $20 level for the GOS program on DBF's account. Now I'm done with both! If I can find some more Prell, I'll get them, but if not, I'm ok with that too. I have a raincheck for 5 bottles in case I find any next week.

Holy 80's Hair Products

Rite Aid
  • 3 Prell shampoos $0.99 each (13.5 oz), will get back $2 (SCR #100, Limit 5) = $1.01 profit on each, $3.03 profit overall
  • Total was $3.20

At another store, I bought:

  • 3 LA Looks Gels $0.99 each (20 oz), used three $1 coupons (10/4 SS) = $0.03 profit
  • 2 Olay body washes $5.59 each
  • 2 Olay Quench lotion $5.99 and $7.49, used two freebie coupons (WYB body wash, 11/29 P&G) and will send away for TMF rebate (Limit 2) = $1.90 profit. When I count in the $5 coupon and the $10 GOS, that ups it to $16.90 profit
  • Used $5 off $25 coupon, total was $8.09

These purchases bumped me from the $10 level to the $20 level for the GOS program. I really wanted to do the John Frieda or Nivea deals this week, but I didn't get those coupons in my inserts, so the Olay deal was a great substitute. I'm going to try and find more Prell at a different RA tomorrow. If you can't find any, be sure to get a raincheck. The SCR is good all month for this item.

  • 2 Olay Quench lotions $9.99 each
  • 2 Olay Ribbons body wash $5.29 each
  • Used two FREE lotion coupons (WYB body wash, 11/29 P&G), $2 RR and $8 RR, total was $2.72
  • Got back $5 RR for spending $20 and I'll submit for the Quench TMF rebate (Limit 2) = $14.40 profit

Then at another store I bought:

  • Conair Brushes $2, got back $2 RR = FREE
  • Stayfree pads $1.99, got back $2 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Plug adapters $1.89
  • Used $5 RR, total was $0.88
On Sunday, DBF and I headed out around 10 am to hit Pathmark for $0.99 papers. There was freezing rain and we hit a small patch of ice on the way there, but didn't think much of it. We got the papers and jumped back in the truck. I had planned a CVS trip too, but the roads were getting icy so we decided to just head back. We're driving down Rt. 23 and see that everyone ahead is stopped and there are police lights in the distance. Following another SUV, we get off on a side street to skip the traffic. Turns out that road was super steep and we crawled up and then down the other side. I watched (with my hands over my eyes) the SUV ahead of us brake too hard and spin out on the street. Luckily, no cars were coming the other way so he just backed up and continued. We came to a cross street and as we waited for a gap in traffic, I watched two dudes in a pickup literally slide down the street. The tires weren't turning at all. We safely got down the hill and tried another side street, which was all backed up with traffic and had another steep hill ahead. Turning around, we headed back to 23, pulled into a Dunkin Donuts and hung out in the truck for an hour. As we read the paper and munched on bagel sandwiches, we listened to the radio. Rt. 23 - closed. Rt. 80 - closed. Rt. 287 - closed. Rt. 78 - closed. Rt. 46 - closed. It was crazy!

After an hour or so and the salt trucks had gone by (plus 4-5 ambulances), we got back onto 23 and sat in traffic. At 1:58, roughly three and a half hours after we left, we got back home. The ice only lasted about 2 hours and the freezing rain quickly turned to regular rain as it warmed up. But what a couple of hours!
Have you seen this commercial for Snuggies? Something about this shot struck me as odd. Can you spot it? Let's take a closer look...
There it is! The cranky, cold, Snuggie-less dude! The entire Snuggie family is cozy and happy and nobody thought to bring one for Gramps. You know that's his wife sitting there clapping and smiling, oblivious to his discomfort.
Come on now, Snuggie people.
The dog is not only warm and happy in his dog-sized Snuggie, he's educating himself on his breed???

Messy, Messy, Messy

Sigh. This is the debris left behind by the roofers. The bad thing is that since we've had some snow and now all this garbage is piled up on top of it, I can't get my screen door open to get out there and get rid of it all. Yay. That one piece in the middle of the shot is stuck between my screen and the white bars. I hope it didn't rip the screen. At least I moved my patio furniture inside last weekend.

The Roof, The Roof, The Roof is on Fire!

Hmm, let's see. Its about 20 degrees out, there's ice and snow everywhere and the wind is gusting around 25 MPH. Those sound like ideal conditions for roofers to come out and work on my building, don't they? These poor dudes. This is the view from my window: two huge ladders right in front of my window and a monstrous dumpster blocking my garage. Doesn't it figure they would be doing this on the coldest day we've had in forever?
Since I live on the top floor, I can't even tell you how loud this process is. The pictures on my walls are shaking! And my poor kitties are terrified. They've spent the better part of the day cowering under my bed.
Luckily, I went out shopping before they moved the dumpster, which would have blocked me in. I had a bunch of errands to run - DMV to renew my license (always fun), getting gas, a couple of Walgreens runs, a trip to JCPenney and a trip to Victoria's Secret. Here's how I did:
Victoria's Secret - had two $10 off $10 coupons. I got one in the mail for my birthday and my sister gave me one that she wasn't going to use. I asked the cashier if I'd be able to use them both if I did separate transactions and she said sure. I bought Very Sexy Dare perfume for $19.50 and paid $10.17 with tax and then bought another perfume for $9.50 and a itty-bitty bottle of antibacterial gel for $3.50, totaling to $3.21 after the coupon. The store had smaller bottles of a perfume I love for only $10, but I overheard the cashier telling another customer that she'd have to spend at least $11 to use her $10 coupon, so I didn't even bother trying those.
JCPenney - I had a $10 off $10 coupon for here too, and I found a pair of jeans on clearance for $11.99, so only $1.99 OOP. I hope they fit! I almost never try clothes on in the store.
Walgreens - only two stores today, but did two transactions at each
  • Renu Multi-Purpose Plus Solution Twin Pack (8 oz each) $9.99, used $2 coupon and got back $10 RR = $2 profit
  • Stayfree Femine Care Maxi (16 or 24 pk) or Ultra Thin Pads (16 pk) $1.99, used $1 coupon and got back $2 RR = $1 profit
  • Neutrogena Men's Skin Care $4.99, got back $5 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Conair Brushes $2, got back $2 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Just For Men Touch of Gray Hair Color $6.99, got back $7 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Used $8 RR, total was $16.64, got back $5 RR for spending $25

I hate to spend this much money OOP, but there was no way around it. I couldn't have used any other RR's that I had, because they were all from these same items. And I've read that if you use the $5 RR (WYB $25), you won't get another, so I couldn't use that to bring down my OOP. I bought all these items so that I'd have RR's to use to buy some more Eucerin for my sister. Sometimes Walgreens is so tricky! I wish it were like CVS where you could use your rewards to buy anything, even more of the same item.

Then I bought:

  • 2 Eucerin Calming Creams $11 each, used two $1 coupons (or 11/1 RP) and got back $8 RR (WYB $20) = $12 or $6 each
  • Living Solutions fleece throw blanket $1.99
  • Kraft mac 'n cheese $0.69 with in-circular coupon
  • 3 Gift sacks $0.13 each with in circular coupon
  • Used $5 RR, $7 RR and $10 RR, total was $2.78
At the second store
  • Renu Multi-Purpose Plus Solution Twin Pack (8 oz each) $9.99, got back $10 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Stayfree Femine Care Maxi (16 or 24 pk) or Ultra Thin Pads (16 pk) $1.99, got back $2 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Used $8 RR, total was $19.64, got back $5 RR for spending $25
And then finally, I used up the last of my Eucerin coupons:
  • 2 Eucerin Calming Creams $11 each, used two $1 coupons (or 11/1 RP) and got back $8 RR (WYB $20) = $12 or $6 each
  • Kraft mac 'n cheese $0.69 with in-circular coupon
  • Gift tags $0.39 with in-circular coupon
  • Gift sack $0.13 with in circular coupon
  • Used $5 RR, $5 RR and $10 RR, total was $2.79

*Meant to buy a fleece blanket in this transaction but I totally forgot! My total before coupons was $24.87 -- a measly $0.13 away from the $25 mark so I'd get back a $5 RR. Don't you just hate when you do things like that?
Aren't these adorable?

Gaga over Glee

Are you all loving Glee as much as I am? I just watched last night's episode and I'm still dancing around. I've been so looking forward to sectionals and I feel like I was there, watching them go. I can't wait until its back in the spring!!
My sister has super sensitive skin and only uses Eucerin. When I saw the sale on it this week, I told her Santa might bring her some for Christmas. :)

Walgreens - went to three different stores
  • 2 Eucerin Calming Creams $11 each, used two $1 coupons (or 11/1 RP) and got back $8 RR (WYB $20) = $12 or $6 each
  • 4 Kraft mac 'n cheeses $0.69 each with in-circular coupon
  • Walgreens soda $0.39 with in-circular coupon
  • Used $10 RR - cashier scanned this twice by accident and it went through without any beeps. Instead of voiding the second one, she just let it go through and kept the rest of my RR's. I had a $5 RR and two $2 RR's, so I got an extra $1 discount. She was so nice! She realized what she did and said, oh well! lol
  • Total was $4.72, got back $5 RR for spending $25

Second store

  • Renu Multi-Purpose Plus Solution Twin Pack (8 oz each) $9.99, used $2 coupon and got back $10 RR = $2 profit
  • Neutrogena Men's Skin Care $4.99, used $2 coupon (December All You magazine) and got back $5 RR = $2 profit
  • Stayfree Femine Care Maxi (16 or 24 pk) or Ultra Thin Pads (16 pk) $1.99, used $1 coupon and got back $2 RR = $1 profit
  • Conair Brushes $2, got back $2 RR = FREE
  • Just For Men Touch of Gray Hair Color $6.99, got back $7 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • 2 Walgreens sodas $0.39 each with in-circular coupon
  • Used $2 RR, $2 RR, $2 RR and $8 RR, total was $9.47 (ouch!), got back $5 RR for spending $25

Third store

  • 2 Eucerin Calming Creams $11 each, used two $1 coupons (or 11/1 RP) and got back $8 RR (WYB $20) = $12 or $6 each
  • 4 Kraft mac 'n cheeses $0.69 each with in-circular coupon
  • Walgreens soda $0.39 with in-circular coupon
  • Used $2 RR, $7 RR and $10 RR, total was $5.72, got back $5 RR for spending $25

Not Bad for an On-the-Fly Trip

At work, we're "adopting" a family in a halfway shelter and buying them Christmas gifts from a list they provided us. The mom had listed that she'd like candles, so I'm giving her two huge Glade three wick candles and one smaller Glade candle. I thought it would be nice to include some other good-smellies, so I'm including a bottle of Glade fabric spray and a Sense and Spray air freshner. I didn't want to go too overboard, because I don't know how much room they have for themselves. I totally forgot the items have to be in tomorrow and I couldn't remember if I had any gift bags big enough at home, so I swung by Walgreens on my way home from work. Since it was an impromptu visit, I didn't have my coupons with me. I'll go back tomorrow or Friday for more goodies.
  • 12/9 - 12/12 ONLY: Neutrogena Men's Skin Care $4.99, got back $5 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • 12/9 - 12/12 ONLY: Renu Multi-Purpose Plus Solution Twin Pack (8 oz each) $9.99, got back $10 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • 12/9 - 12/12 ONLY: Stayfree Femine Care Maxi (16 or 24 pk) or Ultra Thin Pads (16 pk) $1.99, got back $2 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • 12/9 - 12/12 ONLY: Conair Hair Brushes Value Pack $2, got back $2 RR = FREE *I bought the one pictured in the ad but Erica has posted that this UPC is also working: 0 74108 95114 4
  • Red Baron pizza $3 - forgot to put in pic
  • Gift bag $2.99
  • WAG cheese stick $0.59 - thought the gift bag was going to be $2.50. Didn't really need to buy this
  • Got back $5 RR *Mine is only good until 12/19! (WYB $25 worth of stuffs), used four $2 RR's and two $8 RR's, total was $2.95

After you include the $5 RR, the total cost of this transaction was $2.95, less than the cost of the gift bag itself, so that's ok by me. Turns out I had a bunch of bags at home I could have used, but you know how that would have gone if I hadn't bought one at the store - I would have had nothing at home!

The store didn't have any of the sale items marked, so I'm not sure what's included in the Scunchi sale. The circular just says "selected hair accessories."

Whateva RA!

That's it, I give up on Rite Aid this week. A big ol' POOWEY-ON-YOU RITE AID! (blowing a big old raspberry in the air) I went to a different RA today to try yesterday's transaction again and the Scotch coupons beeped again (no surprise there) but then they wouldn't let me use the $5 Air Wick coupons on the $4.99 Air Wicks! Wouldn't adjust it down, even when the manager came over. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Fine RA, I didn't want your stupid Scotch tape dispensers anyway! ;)

CVS - my sisters specifically requested I get them Santa hats, otherwise I would have passed on this deal

  • 2 Merry Brite Santa Hats $3.99 each, got back $7.98 EB (Limit 2) = FREE
  • 2 Essence of Beauty body washes $4.99 each, used BOGO coupon (got from the scanner today - what luck!) and got back $8 EB ($4 EB each, Limit 2) = $3.01 profit
  • Used green bag tag, $0.89 EB, $4 EB and $7.99 EB, total was $1 - paid with egift card

Both these deals are good Sun/Mon/Tues only. All my EB's beeped again. Seems that the Thanksgiving EB's are all beeping for everyone - weird huh?

Delicious Sunflowers

Isn't this cake gorgeous? Just like last year, my sister made me a beautiful birthday cake. This was a sunflower ice cream cake, and this was all that was left by the time it got in front of my camera. I had a wonderful birthday. My dear boyfriend took me out to dinner yesterday and bought me a super snazzy pink coat. We went out with my family for dinner tonight at my fav restaurant - Macaroni Grill and then chowed down on cake. My parents gave me a beautiful strand of black pearls and my sisters bought me a bunch of gorgeous scrapbooking supplies. But more than the gifts, I love spending time with my boyfriend and family.

Only one more year until I have to update my profile on my blog. Sigh.
The kitties were thrilled with the brown paper Panera bag my sister wrapped my gift in. As I type this, Mousse is romping around inside, enjoying the delightfully crumply noises it makes.
What a shopping day, let me tell you...
We started out at Rite Aid. I was buying milk, 2 Scotch tape dispensers, 3 Air Wicks and a RA razor. I had a $5 off $25 coupon and coupons for all the items. The cashier scanned all the coupons, except for the Scotch coupons, which kept beeping. He called a manager over, she overrode the coupons and then said to me - your total is too low, let me "fix it" for you. Umm, what? She said I shouldn't have been able to use the $5 off $25 coupon because the total after coupons wasn't $25 and that I had too many coupons. Fine I said, I will buy these items at another store. She goes - no, that's ok, I just have to "fix it". Umm, by fixing it, if you mean you want me to pay more, that's not exactly my idea of a great solution! I got my coupons back and we left.
Then we went to CVS, where I bought:
  • Garnier Nutritioniste lotion $12.99, used $1 coupon (9/13 SS, 10/11 or 11/8 RP) = $11.99
  • 2 Garnier Nutritioniste cleansing cloths $5.99 each, used two $1 coupons (9/13 SS, 10/11 or 11/8 RP) = $9.98 or $4.99 each
  • Got back $10 EB (WYB $20 of Garnier, Limit 1) = $11.97 for all three
  • Used my green bag tag, $1 EB, $1.59 EB, $4 EB, $5 EB and $10 EB and $2.06 on an egift card I bought

Except for the $10 EB, all of the EB's beeped saying they weren't for my card, but they had my name on them. Weird! And even though I told the cashier I was using an egift card, she kept trying to enter it as a coupon, so obviously it wouldn't scan.

Third time's the charm, right? Then we headed to Staples for some free Duracell batteries. I wanted to use a 10% coupon DBF received in the mail and since he didn't have his Staples rewards card on him, we had to enter in the phone number. The cashier rang me up, scanned my coupons (10% plus $1 manu coupon), put them into the register and then couldn't figure out how to do the rewards number. He called over a manager who voided the sale. Cashier rang me up again but then couldn't get the coupons out of the register. Manager dude came back over and told me I couldn't use both coupons, even though they had both scanned just fine the first time. I got my coupons back and we left empty-handed. What a day!
