Triples at Pathmark!

So excited about this sale! Pathmark is tripling coupons up to and including $1! The sale is valid today, Saturday and Sunday only. They'll triple four of the same coupon, up to 10 coupons total per order. I bought all these goodies across three stores to comply with the 10 coupon limit. Here's what I got:
  • Kraft or Cracker Barrel sliced cheese $2.99 each, used $1 coupon (4/17 SS) = FREE *Also found $1 blinkie coupons in the store
  • Edy's Slow Churned Shakes/Smoothies $1.79 each, bought two and used $1 off 2 coupon (4/17 RP) = $0.58 or $0.29 each
  • Oreo Fudge Creme Cookies $3.69, used $1 coupon (4/17 SS) = $0.69 each
  • Welch's Healthy Start Juice $3.89, used $1 coupon (2/27 SS) = $0.89 each
  • Cracker Barrel Cracker Cuts $3.99, used $1 coupon (4/17 SS) = $0.99 each
  • Act Mouthwash $4.69 each, used $1 coupon (4/17 SS) = $1.69 each
I'm going to go through my coupons and see if I can rustle up some more deals. I love Cracker Barrel so this was a fabulous day for me! I also love Act mouthwash and in all the time I've been couponing, I've only ever gotten it for free once, and that was super tiny bottles at CVS. So I don't mind paying a bit for these. They taste great and my dentist highly recommends them. I'd been using them for years but once I started couponing, I cut back because they're expensive.

Spot any great deals I missed?

The Feline Olympics

Welcome to another round of The Feline Olympics. Gigi has been putting in some quality practice time and can't wait to show off her moves. Let's begin, shall we? Ahh, let's begin with a classic stalking pose. Notice the feline has cleverly camouflaged herself behind a fluorescent pink feathery toy. Subtle.
Before any strenuous play session begins, its important to stretch. Especially your toes.
We start off our session today with a light swat of a round, crinkly mouse head toy. Notice the fine form as Gigi extends her arm. Lovely.
For round two, we have progressed to a feather toy, complete with mouse ears. Gigi carefully inspects the toy to check for quality components.
Satisfied that her toy is up to snuff, she begins the "roll and lick phase." Beautifully executed.
Oh very interesting. We have a new contender here ladies and gentlemen. A rare ribbon and bells toy. Those aren't often seen in this arena.
Wonderful lift Gigi. That should be sure to fetch a high score from the judges.
In an unexpected and bold move, Gigi has gone back to the feather toy! Simply spectacular folks, you just never know what this little girl will do next.
Oh dear, we must have upset her concentration. Do quiet down ladies and gentlemen, focus is crucial for these last rounds.
She's back in the game now! That feather doesn't stand a chance.
And for the finale, a dramatic mouse toy dribble! Who could have seen that coming?!? Let's give her a hand folks! Well done Gigi, well done.

Back to Business

Thank you all for your kind words about Mousse. Your support and kindness means so much to me. I'm happy to report that Gigi has been doing wonderfully. I cannot even tell you how much calmer and snugglier she's been lately. She seems to relaxed and doesn't have to look over her shoulder all the time.

My vet even sent me a handwritten card expressing how sorry he was that this had to happen. He said that based on what I'd told him about Mousse's behavior, putting him down was the best decision I could have made. I am blown away by his thoughtfulness.
CVS - got all my shopping done for the week on my lunch break at three different stores. Gotta love NJ where there are stores everywhere you look. My old card:
  • Blink Tears or Gel Tears $7.99, used $4 peelie coupon and got back $7.99 EB (Limit 1) = $4 profit
  • Used $1.98 EB and $1.99 EB, total was $0.02
Then on my new card -
  • Blink Tears or Gel Tears $7.99, used $4 peelie coupon and got back $7.99 EB (Limit 1) = $4 profit
  • Allegra (5 ct) $6.99, used $5 coupon (4/17 SS) and got back $7 EB (raincheck from a couple weeks ago) = $5 profit
  • 2 Arm & Hammer Total 2-in-1 Dryer Sheets $4.89 each, BOGO sale, used $3 off 2 coupon (4/10 SS) = $1.89 or $0.94 each
  • Used $7 EB, total was $1.21
Then on DBF's card -
  • Blink Tears or Gel Tears $7.99, used $4 peelie coupon and got back $7.99 EB (Limit 1) = $4 profit
  • 4 Arm & Hammer Total 2-in-1 Dryer Sheets $4.69 each, BOGO sale, used $3 off 2 coupon (4/10 SS) = $3.38 or $0.84 each
  • Used $7 EB, total was $1.45
Happy coincidence - got back $1 EB for using my green bag tag on all three cards. :)

Rite Aid
  • 3 Veet Wax Strips $3.59 each ($4.49 reg price), used two $2 coupons (ask me why I didn't use three, I won't be able to answer your question! or here or here - unlimited prints!), three $3 circular coupons (have to have one of these per item), $1 RA coupon (April Video Values), $2/$10 beauty purchase RA coupon (April Video Values) and got back three $1 UP's (Limit 6) = $8.23 profit
  • Raincheck item - The Drs. Nightguard $4.99, used $5 coupon (printable, no longer available, adjusted down) and will get back $3 (SCR #33) = $3 profit
  • Sunchips $0.79 ($0.99 reg price), used $1 RA coupon (April Video Values) = $0.21 profit
  • Twix Bar $0.79 (sale price $0.88, reg price $0.99), got back $0.88 UP (Limit 2) = $0.09 profit
  • 2 Conair Brushes $5.59 (reg price $6.99) and $5.19 (reg price $6.49), used $1 RA coupon for brushes (April Video Values) and got back $5 UP (WYB $10, Limit 3) = $4.78 or $2.39 each
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon, total was $3.79, overall profit $8.09
Then at a separate store and on DBF's card, I bought:
  • 2 Veet Kits $5.03 each ($6.29 reg price), used two $2 coupons (or here or here - unlimited prints!), two $3 circular coupons (have to have one of these per item), $1 RA coupon (April Video Values), $2/$10 beauty purchase RA coupon (April Video Values) and got back two $1 UP's (Limit 6) = $4.94 profit
  • Raincheck item - The Drs. Nightguard $4.99, used $5 coupon (printable, no longer available, adjusted down) and will get back $3 (SCR #33) = $3 profit
  • M&M's $0.79 (sale price $0.88, reg price $0.99), got back $0.88 UP (Limit 2) = $0.09 profit
  • Rold Gold Pretzels $0.99, used $1 RA coupon (April Video Values) = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • 2 Conair Brushes $5.59 (reg price $6.99) and $5.359 (reg price $6.69), used $1 RA coupon for brushes (April Video Values) and got back $5 UP (WYB $10, Limit 3) = $4.94 or $2.47 each
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon, total was $6.83, overall profit $4.05
This transaction was so weird. My wellness discount didn't take off and no UP's printed. Luckily I noticed this right away and the manager returned and re-rung the UP items and ones I should have received a discount on. I didn't bother with the pretzels, but technically, I should have received the 20% discount on these too. Looking at the receipts, the problematic one is on the right and says "Rite Aid Card Savings" on top versus what its supposed to say (left) "Wellness + Savings." WEIRD! I've read about this happening to other people on Slick Deals but its the first time its happened to me. I paid with a $10 UP, which beeped so the cashier scanned my Wellness card again. That's the only thing I can think of that was strange about the transaction - maybe scanning it twice voided it out? But both receipts list the correct number of Wellness points that I've accumulated for the year. I have no idea!

Moral of the story - always check your receipts carefully and before you leave the store.

Goodbye to my Baby

In 2005, I adopted two adorable kitties - Gigi and Mousse. They were about a year old when they came home with me and have always been a bit skittish - Mousse more than Gigi. This past Friday, I had Mousse put down. It was an awful decision to have to make and I am heartbroken. Over the years, Mousse had become increasingly aggressive. He used to play with Gigi, chasing her around the apartment, playfully swatting her. But as they've both aged, what he may thought of as playing was definitely not fun for Gigi. She'd frantically run away from him and I worried he'd either hurt her directly or indirectly as she tried to get away. He'd also grown increasingly aggressive towards everyone but me. All my boyfriend would have to do is glance over at Mousse and he'd be rewarded with a hiss or a growl. When Mousse had to pay a visit to the vet, everyone on staff had to be on alert because he would lash out at them. He had surgery a couple of months ago to have some (more) teeth pulled and when I picked him up, the vet tech gave me an account of their entire day together, including showing me the scratches he'd given her. Even while he was still waking up from the medicine, you could hear him growling and hissing from the other room. His cage had to be labeled "Dangerous!" every time he went to the vet and was known as "the cat".

Last weekend, Mousse went after Shadow and scratched her. Nothing too serious, but as easily as he'd scratched her nose, he could have gotten her eye or mouth. And not only did Mousse grow aggressive when Shadow went towards him, he would charge her without warning. We'd tried everything we could think of to modify his behavior, but I truly feel he had an aggressive personality. Most times, we would shut him in the bedroom with his own litter box and food/water bowls. He'd cry and cry to be let out, but we just couldn't trust him. And anyone who has owned cats knows how fast they can move. One minute he'd be snoozing in the sun and the next he'd be across the room going after Shadow or Gigi. I also think he was in a great deal of pain because of his teeth.

After discussing the options with the vet and countless hours of soul searching, we decided that our most humane option was to put him down. Adopting him out or giving him to a shelter just wasn't an option. I couldn't in good conscience give him to someone else without knowing how he would behave. My vet will never come out and say that he thinks we should put an animal down, but he was very supportive and I think he agreed it was really the only thing to be done.

I will miss that little furball so much.

I Just Can't Stay Away

Rite Aid - my card
  • Allegra 180 mg 24 hr Tablets (5 ct) $5.59 (20% discount price, $6.99 reg price), used $5 coupon (4/17 SS) and will get back $1 (SCR #3) = $0.41 profit *Also counts towards monthly $5 UP on allergy items (WYB $25)
Then on my new card, I got
  • 2 Physician's Formula Concealers - $7.65 and $6, BOGO 50% sale ($6 item was $3), used two $5 printables (no longer available) and $2/$10 RA coupon (April Video Values) = $1.35 profit

  • Donation Balloon $1
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon, $10 UP and $2 UP, total was $2.86
All in all, the cost for both of these transactions was $2.77 - not bad for two mops, huh? I was in need of a mop anyway, so this worked out really well for me. The donation balloon that I bought (available at the registers) contains a bunch of RA coupons - $1 off Lysol Wipes, $1 off No-Nonsense, $2 off Essie nail polish, $1 off Mrs. Fields cookies, $2 off Claritin and $1 off 2 Colgate toothbrushes. They're all valid until 7/31.

Walgreens

  • 3 Scotch Magic Tapes $1.99 each, used three $1 coupons and B1G2 free in-circular coupon = $1.01 profit

  • Used $5 RR, total was $1.28
I didn't see any of the Dickison's hangtag rebates at this store, but I have one that I found at Rite Aid.

Waiting on the Mailman

I really wish my coupon order for the week would arrive soon. I'm looking forward to the Allegra and Nivea deals at RA, but its a no-go until those babies come in the mail.

Rite Aid - DBF's card
  • 2 Physician's Formula Concealers - $7.25 and $6, BOGO 50% sale ($6 item was $3), used two $5 printables (no longer available) and got back $5 UP (WYB $20) = $4.75 profit *This deal is tracking and I'd bought two other items the other day towards this
  • Little Noses $3.99 (20% discount price, $4.99 reg price), used $1 coupon (3/27 SS), got back $3 UP and will get back $1 (SCR #28, Limit 2) = $1.01 profit
  • Lysol Wipes $2.50, used $1.50 coupon (once you "Like" them, click on "Get Coupon" on the left hand side to print it) and $1 RA coupon (April Video Values) = FREE
  • Dry Erase/Bulletin Board $7.19 ($8.99 reg price)
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon and $6 in UP's, total was $2.65
I only got one Little Noses coupon from the 3/27 SS but I keep lucking out and finding $1 peelies in the store! The rebate is limit two, so I'm able to buy one more on my account if I can find one more peelie. You can get other "Little" varieties, but the Little Nose works out to be a better deal if you have the 20% discount.

I'm going to put up (and by "I", I of course mean da wonderfully-handy boyfriend) the bulletin board next to my desk. I plan to use it to hang up coupons/rewards that I don't want to forget about and write notes and reminders to myself.

Second RA store - did this on my card -
  • 2 Physician's Formula Concealers - $6.95 and $6, BOGO 50% sale ($6 item was $3), used two $5 printables (no longer available) and got back $5 UP (WYB $20) = $5.05 profit *This deal is tracking and I'd bought two other items the other day towards this
  • Lysol Wipes $2.50, used $1.50 coupon and $1 RA coupon (April Video Values) = FREE
  • 3 Chef Boyardee cans $1.25 each - what can I say? When the schnecken beckons! (name that movie!) And yes, there are only 2 in the pic b/c I wolfed down one for dinner
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon, total was $1.41
Walgreens - this transaction was a hot mess.
  • 4 Gas X Prevention (20 ct) $4.99 each, used four $4 coupons (12/12 SS) and $2 Walgreens coupon (took off $2 per item, monthly booklet) = $4.04 profit
  • NasoGel Drip Free Gel Spray $4.99, used $3 peelie coupon and got back $5 RR = $3.01 profit
  • 3 Scotch Magic Tapes $1.99 each, used three $1 coupons and B1G2 free in-circular coupon = $1.01 profit
  • 3 Dr. Scholls for Her Arch Support Insoles $6.99 each, used three $2 coupons, $2 Walgreens coupon (took off $2 per item, monthly booklet) and got back $8 RR (WYB $20) = $0.97 for all three
  • Russell Stover Candy $0.39
  • Total was $6.44
Ok, so that was what was supposed to happen. In reality, everything was going peachy keen until it came time for the $2 WAG Dr. Scholls coupon. It beeped but I'm not sure why. They're definitely insoles and they're definitely "for her" products. The cashier manually inputted a coupon for $2 off once she verified I was buying the right thing. But I should have received a discount of $6, not $2 because the coupon should be deducted for each item I bought. My cashier was fantastic, she immediately realized what I was saying and inputted the second $2 coupon...as a $2 cash payment. I guess this sent the register into payment mode and she wasn't able to input a third $2 discount. I also planned to use a $5 RR to pay, but that wouldn't scan either. She called over the manager, who had me pay for everything and told me he'd give me the discount separately. Okie dokie, I paid and then we started the adjustment.

Turns out that since the cashier inputted the $2 WAG coupon as a manufacturer's coupon, it ate up my last coupon-less item (Russell Stover) which is why the RR was beeping. The manager was great as well and gave me back $2 cash. I was all set to leave, when I realized I'd only received one RR - for the Neilmed. I showed the manager the Dr. Scholls deal in the circular and he refunded $8 on a Walgreens gift card for me - how great is that?

So Cliff Notes version - stay away from the Dr. Scholls deal unless you have some patience and a super friendly store. Or at least, stay away from the hidden arch support insoles. Has anyone had any luck with a different kind of insole?

Purex and Pyrex

Walgreens
  • NasoGel Drip Free Gel Spray $4.99, used $3 peelie coupon and got back $5 RR = $3.01 profit
  • 3 Scotch Magic Tapes $1.99 each, used three $1 coupons and B1G2 free in-circular coupon = $1.01 profit
  • Total was $1.12
Rite Aid - did the household UP deal on DBF's card. This deal is reported as being limit one, even though the receipt is tracking purchases above and beyond the $30 mark. Weird! Here's how I split it up across three stores:
  • Febreze Noticeables $2.49, will submit for TMF rebate (will submit at DBF's address) = FREE
  • 10 Snickers Eggs $0.50 each, used five $1 off 2 coupons (3/20 or 4/10 RP) = FREE
  • Total was $3.02
Then at store #2 -
  • 4 Physician's Formula Concealers - two at $7.25 and two at $6, BOGO 50% sale, used four $5 printables (no longer available) and $2/$10 Go Green RA coupon (April Video Values) = $2.13 profit
  • Febreze Noticeables $2.49, will submit for TMF rebate (will submit at parents' address) = FREE (this must have fallen out of my bags and is probably floating around in my car right now)
  • 6 Purex Crystals Fabric Softeners $5.99 each, BOGO sale, used six $2 coupons (3/20 RP) = $5.97 or $0.99 each
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon, total was $5.95
My PF items rang up all wonky. The first set rang up as $7.25 and $3.62 (half of second $7.25 item) and the second as $6 and $3. I had assumed the $7.25 items would ring up full price and I'd get the BOGO 50% off sale on the $6 items. Since it rang up this way, my total was only $19.87, so I didn't get the $5 UP (WYB $20). Not to worry - the deal is tracking, so I finished it out at store #3.
  • Little Noses $4.23 (20% discount price, $5.29 reg price), used $1 coupon (3/27 SS), got back $3 UP and will get back $1 (SCR #28, Limit 2) = $0.77 profit
  • 2 Physician's Formula Concealers - $7.65 and $3 (50% off price), used two $5 printables (no longer available) and got back $5 UP = $6.48 profit (I'm including the profit from the other PF items I bought previously)
  • 12 Snickers Eggs $0.50 each, used six $1 off 2 coupons (3/20 or 4/10 RP) = FREE
  • 6 Purex Crystals Fabric Softeners $5.99 each, BOGO sale, used six $2 coupons (3/20 RP) = $5.97 or $0.99 each
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon, $1 off total purchase coupon and $5 UP, total was $3.09
Got back a $10 UP for spending $30 on household items. I actually overspent by about $10 on this deal, but I wanted to use up my Purex coupons. Across all three transactions, I made a profit of $7.92 so I'm really happy.

Again, I got a $3/$15 survey coupon on each receipt! I also have $10.52 towards another Physician's Formula UP. Love it!
ShopRite - I didn't feel like dragging everything I bought back out of the fridge, so here are the highlights. So excited about the Pyrex deals!
  • 4 Pyrex Pans - $7.49 for the largest pan, $3.99 for the square pan and $3.49 for the smaller bread size ones, used four $1 coupons (4/10 SS) = $6.49, $2.99 and $2.49 each

I also picked up a pound of strawberries for $1.99, pears for $0.99/lb and Dole salad mix for $1.64.

That's Gonna Smell Good!

EDIT - ok, so it appears that the household UP deal is actually limit one even though receipts track your purchases above and beyond $30. Weird! The PF deal is more than limit one though, so go to town on that one.

Good news - both the Physician's Formula and household cleansers deals are tracking! This means you can make your purchases over several transactions and you'll still get your UP's. Also, even though the circular says the cleansers deal is limit one, my receipt lists my purchases above and beyond $30, so its gotta be more than that. RA might crack down and change this at any time though.

Rite Aid - first store
  • 4 Physician's Formula Eye Liners $6.95 each, BOGO 50% off so half were $3.47, used four $5 printables (no longer available) and got back $5 UP WYB $20 = $4.16 profit
  • Got2B Styler $5.19 ($5.99 sale price, $6.49 reg price so I got the 20% discount price b/c that's greater), used $2 coupon (April All You magazine), $2 RA coupon (April Video Values) and got back $2 UP = $0.81 profit
  • Little Colds/Fevers $4.99, used $1 coupon (3/27 SS), got back $3 UP and will get back $1 (SCR #28, Limit 2) = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • 8 Air Wick Aerosol Cans $1.69 each, BOGO sale and used four BOGO coupons (expire today 4/17 from 3/6 SS or 4/17 SS, cashier took off $1.49 for each) = $0.80
  • Febreze Noticeables $2.49, will submit for TMF rebate = FREE
  • Duracell AA Batteries $2.99, used $1.50 coupon (4/3 P&G) and $1 RA peelie coupon = $0.49
  • 2 Purex Crystals Fabric Softeners $5.99 each, BOGO sale, used two $2 coupons (3/20 RP) = $1.99 or $0.99 each
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon and $1 purchase coupon (April Video Values), total was $10.64
The Purex, Air Wick, Febreze and Duracell all counted towards the spend $30, get $10 UP on household cleansers. Then at a second store, I got:
  • 2 Physician's Formula Concealers $7.65 and $6, BOGO 50% off so second was $3, used two $5 printables (no longer available) and $2/$10 Go Green RA coupon (April Video Values) = $1.35 profit and gave me $11.49 towards my next $5 UP (WYB $20 worth)
  • 10 Air Wick Aerosol Cans $1.69 each, BOGO sale and used four BOGO coupons (expire today 4/17 from 3/6 SS or 4/17 SS) = FREE
  • 4 Purex Crystals Fabric Softeners $5.99 each, BOGO sale, used four $2 coupons (3/20 RP) = $3.98 or $0.99 each
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon and $1 purchase coupon (April Video Values), total was $0.52 *Should have held onto my $1 purchase coupon. My total was too low to use my 5th Air Wick BOGO coupon
Got back a $10 UP for the household cleansers deal. All in all, my profit on these two transactions was $12.33! All I really wanted to get was the Purex (these smell great) so I'm very happy with these deals.

I also got back two codes for $3/$15 coupons and have $11.49 towards another Physician's Formula UP and $8.60 towards another household cleansers UP.

Hmm, well that's frustrating

Staples
  • HP Multipurpose Paper $5.99, used $1 coupon and will submit for $5.99 Easy Rebate (cashier has to scan this coupon for rebate form to print) = $1 profit
  • Little Stuff Box $0.99
  • Used $5.30 Staples Rewards, total was $0.80
At another store, I bought another ream for DBF's account
  • HP Multipurpose Paper $5.99, used $1 coupon and will submit for $5.99 Easy Rebate (cashier has to scan this coupon for rebate form to print) = $1 profit
  • Clearanced Note Pad $0.50
  • Used $5 Staples Rewards, total was $0.59
Staples receipts are so confusing to read. I bought this stuff on my lunch break so it was several hours ago at this point, but I'm 99% sure that the cashier told me my total was $1.59 and I forked over $2. In actuality, it was $1.59 before the $1 coupon, so only $0.59 total. I should have received back $1.41 in change and the receipt even says this. If my total was only $0.59, I wouldn't have given him two $1 bills. I know I didn't get any bills back, only change. Nothing I can do about it now though. Grr

Walgreens
  • Biore Pore Strips and Biore Scrub $5.99 each, used BOGO coupon (free cleanser, 3/6 SS) and $1 coupon (peelie found on product) and got back $5 RR (monthly deal, valid until 4/30) = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • 2 Scott Naturals Paper Towels (6 pack) $5 each, used two $1.50 coupons and $1 Walgreens coupon (took off $2, monthly coupon book) = $2.50 each
  • 7 Snickers Chocolate Eggs (1 oz) $0.29 each, used two $1 off 2 coupons (3/20 or 4/10 RP) = $0.03
  • Used two $1 RR's and $4 RR, total was $5

Walgreens - there is a mid-week ad going on this week (starting 4/20), nothing too exciting. HOWEVER, if you want to use any circular coupons, stores tend to put away the all-week-long circulars once the mid-week circular comes out. So make sure you grab some before they disappear!

Circle of Nothingness

Note to self - do not put tape over a receipt. The sticky stuff sucks up all the ink and you'll be left with a circle of nothingness. I had planned on using this receipt towards the JF Flyaway Tamer rebate, but since the item is now invisible, I had to come up with an alternate plan. I'd picked up a third Wellness card a while back for some fantabulous deal at Rite Aid. I do all my rebates in triplicate (my address, da boyfriend's address and my parents' address) but for whatever reason, I only do Rite Aid rebates at my and DBF's address. Its time to branch out! I watched the neverending barrage of hair care videos to get the $2/$10 Full Repair coupon and off I went to the store. I'm going to submit for the Complete rebate at my parents' address.
Rite Aid - no discount on this card b/c I use it very sparingly
  • John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo and Full Repair Conditioner and Root Awakening Shampoo ($5 each) and Full Repair Flyaway Tamer ($9.99), used $2 Full Repair RA coupon (April Video Values), four $2 coupons (3/6 SS or here), got back $10 UP (WYB $20, monthly deal) and will submit for TMF rebate on the tamer = $5 profit
  • Complete Multi-Purpose Solution (12 oz) $7.99, used $1 coupon (4/3 SS) and will get back $7.99 (SCR #24) = $1 profit
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon and $1 off total purchase coupon (April Video Values) and $15 in UP's, total was $2.52, overall profit $8.46
Walgreens
  • Carefree Pantiliners $0.99, used $0.50 coupon (3/27 RP) and got back $0.99 RR = $0.50 profit
  • 2 Always DriLiners Plus (30 ct) $3 and DriLiners Plus (34 ct) $4.29, used two $1 coupons (4/3 P&G) and get back $4 RR = $1.29
  • 7 Snickers Chocolate Eggs (1 oz) $0.29 each, used two $1 off 2 coupons (3/20 or 4/10 RP) = $0.03
  • Total was $5.95
I was expecting both Always packages to be $3 and therefore both would be free, but I should have paid more attention to the signs in the store. I could return them, but I just didn't feel like bothering. The profit of buying two Carefree's cancels out the cost, so I'm ok with that.

Hodgepodge of Freebies

CVS - newer card
  • 4 Air Wick Freshmatic Compact Imotion Kits $5 each, used four $4 coupons (3/20 SS) and got back $10 EB (WYB $20, Limit 1) = $6 profit
  • Sun/Mon/Tues ONLY: Russell Stover Single Egg (1 oz) $0.74, got back $0.74 EB (Limit 1) = FREE
  • Sun/Mon/Tues ONLY: Super Miracle Bubbles (16 oz) $1.99, got back $1.99 EB (Limit 1) = FREE (Shadow goes nuts for bubbles - do your dogs love them too?)
  • Second Russell Stover egg $0.74 - bought this as a filler so I could use my EB
  • Used $6.99 EB, total was $2.12
Then at another store and on my older card, I got:
  • 4 Air Wick Freshmatic Compact Imotion Kits $5 each, used four $4 coupons (3/20 SS) and got back $10 EB (WYB $20, Limit 1) = $6 profit
  • Sun/Mon/Tues ONLY: Russell Stover Single Egg (1 oz) $0.74, got back $0.74 EB (Limit 1) = FREE
  • Sun/Mon/Tues ONLY: Super Miracle Bubbles (16 oz) $1.99, got back $1.99 EB (Limit 1) = FREE
  • Essence of Beauty Hand Soap $4.29, used FREE coupon (valid up to $3.99) = $0.30
  • Used $2.50 EB and $3 EB, total was $3.14
I didn't find all these Air Wicks at each store. That's one of my favorite things about CVS - you can buy a little here, a little there. I combined everything for simplicity's sake here.

Walgreens - bought the Gatorade hoping to get a code for a $5 survey that I'd read about on Slick Deals. No dice!
  • Gatorade Series Fit - Gatorade Prime $1.50, Gatorade Perform $1.00 and Gatorade Recover $2.50, will submit for $5 rebate (form prints at register, must buy all three in a single transaction) = FREE
  • Used two $1 RR's and $3 RR, total was $0.25
Separately, I bought three more Carefree -
  • Carefree Pantiliners $0.99, used $0.50 coupon (3/27 RP) and got back $0.99 RR = $0.50 profit
Rite Aid
  • John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo and FR Conditioner ($5 each) and FR Flyaway Tamer ($7.99, $9.99 reg price, 20% discount), used three $2 coupons (3/6 SS or here), got back $10 UP (WYB $20, monthly deal) and will submit for TMF rebate on the tamer = $6 profit
  • RA dryer sheets $1.12, got back $1 UP (Limit 3) = $0.12
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon, $1 off your order coupon (April Video Values) and $8 in UP's, total was $2.17
The John Frieda deal is tracking your purchases over time, so I was able to use some extra from a deal I did yesterday towards this purchase. Otherwise, I wouldn't have hit the $20 mark with these items I got today.

John FREE-da

My garage door opener has been acting up lately and I asked my hunny to take a look at it for me. Not only did he fix it, he swept out my whole garage, vacuumed my car, cleaned the dashboard and windows AND sprayed the seats with Febreze. How sweet was that?

Walgreens
  • Carefree Pantiliners $0.99, used $0.50 coupon (3/27 RP) and got back $1 RR = $0.51 profit
  • 7 Snickers Chocolate Eggs (1 oz) $0.29 each, used two $1 off 2 coupons (3/20 or 4/10 RP) = $0.03
  • Total was $0.66
So excited to see that the latest Harry Potter DVD is coming out this week! I'm planning on using up my 10 Carefree coupons and then I'll use those $1 RR's on the movie on Friday. ETA - looks like HP is going to be around $16.99 after UP's at Rite Aid next week so I'll probably buy it there using a $3/$15.

Rite Aid
  • John Frieda Root Awakening Shampoo, Full Repair Shampoo and Full Repair Conditioner - all $5 each and Full Repair Flyaway Tamer $7.99 ($9.99 reg price, 20% discount), used four $2 coupons (3/6 SS or here), $1 Full Repair RA coupon (March Video Values), $2 off $10 Full Repair RA coupon (April Video Values), got back $10 UP (WYB $20, monthly deal) and will submit for $7.99 rebate for Flyaway Tamer (WYB Full Repair Sham + Cond, pic of hangtag rebate here) = $6 profit
  • 2 Old Spice Fresh Collection Body Washes $2.99 each, used BOGO coupon (4/3 P&G) and got back two $2 UP's (Limit 2) = $1.01 profit
  • Complete Multi-Purpose Solution (12 oz) $7.99, used $1 coupon (4/3 SS) and will get back $7.99 (SCR #24) = $1 profit
  • 5 Rite Aid Dryer Sheets (80 ct. or 80 ct. plus 20) $0.99 each (unadvertised price - be sure to check yours before you buy) and got back three $1 UP's (Limit 3 on this deal) = $1.96 for all five (would have been free if I'd just bought three boxes)
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon, $17 in UP's, total was $3.13
The Full Repair stylers may not all ring up as $5, but they are counting towards the UP deal. Then at another store, I bought:
  • John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo, Full Repair Shampoo and Full Repair Conditioner - all $5 each and Full Repair Flyaway Tamer $8.23 ($10.29 reg price, 20% discount), used four $2 coupons (3/6 SS or here), $1 Full Repair RA coupon (March Video Values), $2 off $10 Full Repair RA coupon (April Video Values), got back $10 UP (WYB $20, monthly deal) and will submit for $7.99 rebate for Flyaway Tamer (WYB Full Repair Sham + Cond, pic of hangtag rebate here) = $6 profit
  • 2 Gillette Body Washes $2.99 each, used BOGO coupon (4/3 P&G) and got back two $2 UP's (Limit 2) = $1.01 profit
  • Complete Multi-Purpose Solution (12 oz) $7.99, used $1 coupon (4/3 SS) and will get back $7.99 (SCR #24) = $1 profit
  • 2 Rite Aid Dryer Sheets (80 ct. or 80 ct. plus 20) $1.12 each (unadvertised price - be sure to check yours before you buy) and got back two $1 UP's (Limit 3) = $0.24
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon, $21 in UP's, total was $1.86
The John Frieda deal is tracking your purchases across multiple receipts. With the Flyaway Tamer, I spent a bit over $20 - $3.23 to be exact. This means that I can go back, buy another tamer for around $8 and a Full Repair Shampoo and Conditioner ($5 each) and be over the $20 mark to get another $10 UP! I'll also use this towards a third rebate on the tamer. Love it!

I also got a code for a $3/$15 coupon on both these receipts. Since RA got rid of the $5/$25 coupons, this has been almost as good!

Thoughts on Extreme Couponing

I just finished watching Extreme Couponing on TLC and I have something very important to ask of all of you lovely people.

Do you say coo-pon or q-pon?

'Cuz saying q-pon is just wrong people! Its cooooooo-pon! SAY IT RIGHT!
I plucked another Colgate coo-pon from my coo-pon stash and took it with me along with my other coo-pons for other coo-pon friendly stores to score deals using my coo-pons. Ok, got that out of my system. Moving on...

Walgreens
  • Colgate Maxfresh, Maxwhite or Maxclean Toothpaste (6 oz) $2.99, used $0.75 coupon (4/3 SS) and got back $3 RR = $0.75 profit
  • Total was $2.45
Then I used that RR and ones I'd earned yesterday from buying Colgate towards -
  • 4 Pepsi cases $13, got back $3 RR = $10
  • Used four $3 RR's, total was $1.91

Cheap Paper Towels

Walgreens - I'm almost out of soda, so I'm planning on buying four Colgates and then using those RR's towards Pepsi. The cashier today rang up my toothpaste and then gave me my total. I asked - did you ring up the Scott as well? He said - oh no, what you want to do is buy the Colgate, then use those rewards towards the Scott. Now I appreciate his willingness to help me save money, I really do, but it would have been nice if he'd asked me if that's what I'd like to do. I had to explain that I had a plan for my Colgate RR's and that I'd like to purchase the Scott and Colgate together. He looked at me like I had three eyes and rang me up as I requested. He also rang up one of my $1.50 Scott coupons, then the $1 WAG coupon and then the second $1.50 coupon, which of course beeped. I had him take off the second Scott and I bought it in my next transaction. He had me so flummoxed that I didn't realize what the problem was until after I'd paid and left the store.
  • Colgate Maxfresh, Maxwhite or Maxclean Toothpaste (6 oz) $2.99, used $0.75 coupon (4/3 SS) and got back $3 RR = $0.75 profit
  • Scott Naturals Paper Towels (6 pack) $5, used $1.50 coupon and $1 Walgreens coupon (monthly coupon book) = $2.50 - saw this great deal on A Super Savvy Saver
  • Total was $4.95
Repeated and then bought a third Colgate separately (did this at two stores). I haven't bought paper towels in ages and I'm down to about 6 rolls, so this deal came at a great time for me. I'm going to print out some more $1.50 coupons on another computer tomorrow and go back for more. $5 is the regular price so you have until 4/30 (when the WAG coupon expires) to grab some of these for yourself. I swear I had a fourth Colgate coupon with me but when it came time to use it, it was nowhere to be found. It must have stuck to one of the other coupons I used. I'll finish out this deal tomorrow or Friday.

I found $3 Neilmed peelies at WAG while I was poking around, so I had to take a trip to Rite Aid. Here's what I got there -
  • Neilmed Nasadock Plus Drying Stand $6, used $3 peelie coupon and got back $6 UP (Limit 1) = $3 profit
  • 4 Carefree Pantiliners (18 ct) $1.19 each ($1.49 reg price, $1.25 sale price, my 20% discount was better so I got that price), used two $2 off 2 coupons (these were major beepers) and got back $1 UP (WYB 4) = $0.24 profit
  • Total was $3.76
Then I bought another Nasadock (on a separate card) = $3 profit These count towards the Allergy Promo this week ($5 UP WYB $25 of select items listed in the circular). The $2 Carefree coupon isn't good on 20 or 22 count packages, so look for these older style 18 count ones.

CVS - on my old card
  • Complete Multipurpose Eye Solution (12 oz) $8.99, used $1 coupon (4/3 SS) and got back $8.99 EB (Limit 1) = $1 profit
  • 2 Right Guard Total Defense Body Washes (13.5 oz) $3.88 each, used BOGO coupon (cashier took off $4.99, 3/13 RP) and got back $3 EB (Limit 1) = $0.23 profit
  • Crest Pro-Health Complete Rinse (16.9 oz) $3.49, used $1 coupon (4/3 P&G) and got back $2.50 EB (Limit 2) = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • 2 Oral-B Manual Toothbrushes $2.99 each, used two $2 coupons (4/3 P&G) and got back $1.98 EB ($0.99 EB each, Limit 2) = FREE/$0.01 profit

  • Stamps $8.80
  • Used $6.99 EB and two $7 EB's, total was $4.49
Then to finish out the week, on DBF's card, I got:
  • Complete Multipurpose Eye Solution (12 oz) $8.99, used $1 coupon (4/3 SS) and got back $8.99 EB (Limit 1) = $1 profit
  • Oral-B Manual Toothbrush $2.99, used $2 coupon (4/3 P&G) and got back $0.99 EB (Limit 2) = FREE/$0.01 profit

  • Stamps $8.80
  • Used $7 EB and $9.99 EB, total was $4.48
