Befuddled by RiteAid

Rite Aid
  • 4 Tylenol Precise Heat Patch or Cream $5 each, used two $5 off 2 coupons (12/12 RP) and got back four $3 UP's = $2 profit
  • Gain Detergent $0.89, used $1 coupon (P&G coupon booklet received via rebate) = $0.11 profit
  • 4 Campbell's Chunky Soups $5, got back $1 UP
  • 4 Special K Cereals $4.79 each, BOGO sale, used two BOGO coupons (sign up for the plan first) = FREE *Got back four $1 monthly UP's (expire 2/5) but I have no idea if they're from the soup or the cereal
  • Used four $3 UP's and two $1 UP's, total was $0.95
At this point, I was pretty sure the soup was producing the UP's and since it was free after UP and also counting towards the $20 Buy & Save promo, I picked up some more after work:
  • 8 Campbell's Chunky Soups $5, got back two $1 UP's (too lazy to drag all these upstairs from the car - soup is heavy!)
  • Kellogg's Smart Start Cereal $4.99, will submit for TMF rebate (on box) = FREE, Special K cereal $4.79 - FREE with BOGO sale, got back $1 UP
  • Used three $3 UP's and five $1 UP's, total was $0.99. Since I only got three $1 UP's here, I'm thinking the UP's from earlier were from the Kelloggs, not the Campbells.
Got back my $20 Resolution Reward on my account

CVS
  • 3 cases Diet Pepsi $10, used $2 off $10 coupon (for fruit, nuts or sugar free items, found inside 50 Million Pound Challenge booklet found in stores) - once I spend another $10, I'll get back $10 EB for spending $20 on Pepsi
  • Milk $2.29
  • Used $10 EB, total was $0.99

i think special k = $1 up each, soup = $1 up for every 4?

The Special K produced the extra $1 +Ups you got, not the soup.
The Special K and the Barilla Pasta are part of the monthlong $1+Ups, as is the Hormel Compleats.

And word on the street is that receipts will only product so many +Ups per receipt, so do small transactions or all your +Ups may not print. I learned this the hard way on Sunday.... 8-(

You got gypped on that milk - it's only half full. ;)

Yep, it's from the Special K! I purchased several boxes on Sunday and got an UP for each one. Very nice!

Thanks for the clarification all! I saw on another blog that the author had received UP's for Campbells but I guess that was an error or only working for that day.

Oh, it makes sense now...I thought I didn't get the Barilla & Hormel +Ups on my trip but it was the soup! I wish the +Ups stated which food! Thanks all for the clarification ;)

Mary,
Seriously! I should demand a refund! lol

Sheila,
I was thinking the same thing! It would be nice if they were like CVS and the rewards said what they were for, but they just say "Food snacks" or "Food items" Not very helpful at all.

I bought special k today and didn't get any ups. Are they only for certain varieties?

Are you sure you don't want my pet coupons for my error? Anyway, you inspired me to hit ShopRite today! http://asupersavvysaver.blogspot.com/2011/01/i-love-double-coupons.html OK, I'm addicted.

mb,
I honestly have no idea! The monthly UP's are so tricky because they aren't advertised in the circular so its a bit of a crapshoot.

Sheila,
Don't be silly! We're all human. I saw that you made a killing at ShopRite! If it doesn't snow too badly, I might try to head over tomorrow night, but we'll see what the weather gods have in store.
