PC Doubles Trip

The last couple times that Price Chopper has done double coupon events, I made out like a bandit.  This time, not so much.  There were two $1 doubler coupons in the circular (got in my Sunday paper, not the ones in the store) and you have to spend at least $15 to use them.

  • 4 Hillshire Farms Sausages $2.50 each, used two $1 off 2 tearpad coupons + doublers = $6 or $1.50 each
  • Friehofer Hot Dog Rolls $2
  • PC Dish Detergent $2, used $1.50 off $1.50 dish detergent catalina (got this a week or so ago) = $0.50
  • Suave Men's Deo $2.39, used $1.50 off $1.50 deodorant catalina (got this a week or so ago) = $0.89
  • Milk $1.50
  • 2 NY Ciabatta Garlic Bread $3.19 and BOGO sale = $3.19 or $1.59 each
  • Used $2 off $20 coupon and $6.35 in bottle slips, total was $5.84
I'll use the Hillshire Farm and rolls for a $10 Pyramid Ale NBPR rebate (on $10.01 of qualifying items).  Its very rare that NBPR rebates are in printable format like this, so if you live in a qualifying state, be sure to check this one out. The rebate is limit three and you can even send in your three rebates all in one envelope.  Save some change on stamps - every little bit helps!

This rebate is valid in all states EXCEPT for: AL, AR, DE, FL, IN, KS, LA, ME, MN, MS, ND, NH, PA, RI, SD, TN, TX, VT, and WV.  NBPR (no beer purchase required) in CT, MA, MD, MO, NC, NJ, NY and UT.   You can buy tons of stuff for this rebate but in NY, IL and VA, you have to purchase name brands (no store brands).

If you're new to NBPR rebates or heard the term floating around but never knew what it meant (I did that for a couple years!), let me run this down for you.  NBPR stands for "no beer purchase required" meaning that if you live in one of the NBPR states, you don't need to purchase beer to qualify for the rebate.  The valid states vary a bit from rebate to rebate.  If you look on ebay for "NBPR" or "beer rebates" you'll find tons of various forms.  Here are a couple I have right now: Heineken $10 off $10.01 of fresh/prepared foods (with purchase of Heineken), Smirnoff $4 off $4.01 frozen dinners (with purchase of Smirnoff) Busch $5 off $5.01 of water, ice, coolers or salty snacks (with purchase of Busch).  But here's the fun part - since I live in NY, I don't need to purchase the beer to qualify for these rebates!  So they become $10 off $10.01 of fresh food, $4 off a $4.01 frozen dinner, $5 off $5.01 of water (and so on).

These rebates are a wonderful way to buy groceries for free or cheap.  And they're often very open-ended, so you can usually purchase whatever brands you like.  Now that I've moved to NY, I'm able to find a lot of these rebates in my grocery stores (never found them in Jersey), but you can buy them on ebay or trade for them on Slick Deals and HCW.  Happy rebate hunting!

Hey lady. I wanted to come over and thank you. Your comment really made my day. I hear you about the commenting thing. Sometimes I think readers don't understand how much that means to us. Otherwise it makes us feel like we aren't connecting or something. And the funniest thing is that what I think are my best posts get the fewest comments. Crazy. Anyway, keep on keepin' on. You do good work over here. Many people appreciate you. xoxo

I love your blog and even though I don't comment much, I read every post! Keep up the great work!

Thanks ladies! I really do appreciate that. Melanie - I feel the same way! There are times I post something and think - I bet I'll have a bunch of comments about this idea...and I get nada. I know every post doesn't always warrant a comment, there are tons of times I read other folks' blogs and agree with what they're saying or think - "oh great idea!" and then I don't leave a comment. Its just hard to keep plugging along when sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself.

I've been blogging for about 4 years now and I do enjoy it. There's nothing better than sharing some fabulous deal that will help people save money. That's why I've kept on for so long, but lately, its just been getting harder. I don't know, maybe its just a phase I'm going through and I need a vacation. :)

Hey there, the major reason that I dont comment is that it is hard from my phone. Since there isnt a quick anonymous option, it makes me log into some format, to identify myself and then comment.... this takes forever on my phone and often after I have written up a comment, than try to log into google or something, than it times out and disappears, comment and all!! It annoying. :(

ANyways, I LOVE checking your blog... and my fav is Rite Aid deals!! I live in the Northwest, so PC and S&S and CVS dont exist over here... but I enjoy reading them anyways, hearing about your dog and cat, and all the remodeling you and the bf do makes me want to do it myself. :)

GREAT BLOG!! Keep up the good work lady.

P.S. I really had no idea how meaningful commenting is for bloggers.... Now I know. :)

Jenny,
I've heard that before, posting comments is sometimes a pain and I'm sorry about that. Maybe I'll put the anonymous comments back up. I took that down a while ago when I was having major issues with one nutjob but thankfully, that's behind me (I hope anyway).

Thanks so much for your sweet words!

Just to add, I don't want anyone to think I'm ungrateful for the comments that do come in and that I'm searching for some magic number of comments per post. Its not that at all. I just want to feel like I'm interacting with people, not just putting blog posts out there into the ether. Does that make sense?

I know lots of folks check in everyday, I see the stats. And I'm happy that you all do and that you're here! Its just that blogging is work like anything else. Sometimes I feel like doing it more than others.

Ok, so help me get this right. I am in Kenutcky. I can use this rebate to buy food without the alcohol and I qualify for the rebate? If so, how could I have missed this in the past?

I read you blog DAILY! thanks for helping me save.

YES you can! Isn't that amazing! Beer rebates are really wonderful and have helped me get so much food/groceries for free or cheap.
