I Got Mine, Are You Gonna Get Yours?

Have you tried the Halls candy yet? They're not cough drops, they're candy and they are delicious!
Walgreens - four trips total. Did two transactions at each store:
First:
  • Herbal Essence Hair Care $2.99, used $1 coupon (8/23 or 9/13 RP) and got back $2 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Walgreens shredded cheese $1.50
  • Used $3 RR, total was $0.70

Second

  • Herbal Essence Hair Care $2.99, used $1 coupon (8/23 or 9/13 RP) and got back $2 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Kit Kat $0.49 with in-circular coupon
  • Used $1 RR, total was $1.69

Third

  • Halls Refresh Sugar Free Drops (20 ct) $1, used $1 coupon (9/27 SS, $0.50 coupon in 10/23 issue of All You magazine) and got back $1 RR (month-long deal) = $1 profit

Today I got the newly-infamous Naked Naturals "pittance check". I submitted for this rebate (Try Me Free tag on the bottle) and the geniuses at the company have decided to only reimburse people the cash amount that they paid. So since I bought mine at CVS and used EB's to pay, I only got back $0.44. Seriously Naked Naturals? Seriously? If I have time, I'm going to call them and give 'em a lesson on EB's. If I don't have time, I'll just return the shampoo and get my money back on a CVS money card. $0.44 profit. Thanks NN! Idiots.

I am so glad you posted about this! I have seriously considered getting this as part of my RA or CVS transactions, now I will avoid it like the plague.

Ha...glad to know I'm not the only one receiving checks for such tiny amounts....we sold all of the stock we had in my husband's company before it merged with a larger company last year. Somehow (don't ask me how...) we ended up with just one sad, little share left that was converted to the new company's stock. We get this teeny dividend check every quarter for like 34 cents- it costs them at least 10 cents to mail the stupid check to us! I never deposit them- I usually write VOID all over them and just shred them. I'm all about saving, but somehow those itty bitty checks just seem like a total waste of my time! (I'd rather they just mailed me a quarter and a dime so I could just toss the change in our jar!)

Thanks for the heads up. I cannot believe they went this route. They will loose more in the long run with all the bad P.R.

I'm off to post my warning to spread the word.

BusyCouponMama,
I bought a second one at Rite Aid and paid with a gift card. I think my total was at least the amount of the shampoo, so we'll see what happens with this one.

Lisa,
I agree - stupid move on the company's part. Its like that Omaha Steak fiasco all over again!

Virginia Mom,
Oh jeez, $0.034?!? That's too funny. I'd rather get change too - I'm going to deposit this check, but I'm sure I'm going to feel like an idiot doing it.

Suz - the same thing happened to me! I got a check for 1.01. I called NN and the woman I talked to was very adament about not giving the full refund. She said she understood how the EB program worked, but that they consider the EBs coupons, and that by us particpating in the program with CVS, that counted as "another offer." Soooo stupid in my opinion. It's funny - I am going to do the same thing you said - return the shampoo and get a gc, and take the 1.01 from NN just for them being so stupid. I was considering taking it one step further by using the gc to re-buy the shampoo and then send THAT receipt in saying, "Ha! Now it's paid for in real money!" lol - but I think that is just a waste of time on my part.

This is just ridiculous. It doesn't even pay the postage to mail it in. Thanks for the heads up!

Jenny,
Thanks, you saved me some trouble. I'm going to go ahead and return the shampoo to CVS. What dopes.

Precious,
Isn't it? What a waste of time and money for their company.

For years I got an $.08 check from Lucent for stock I owned. It cost them what, 38 cents to mail it to me on average for 20 years? Then I applied for direct deposit of it. LOL Every so often 8 cents appeared in my checking acct, throwing off my balance.

No wonder they are out of business...
