While everyone else in the store was buying batteries and bottled water, I was buying nail clippers!  Another perk of having a stockpile - no need to run out at the last minute and buy essentials - I've got them downstairs already!

  • Used 25% off coupon - took off $9.31, $1 EB, $3 EB, $6 EB and $10 EB, total was $9.49.  My total cost for this transaction was $7.49

  • Used $6 in UP's, total was $0.49
I didn't get the extra monthly $1 UP for buying four, but others have reported that they did get this by purchasing the 230 count boxes.  The monthly deal is good until 10/30.

On Top of the World!

Another gorgeous day today, so we took a drive to Sam's Point Preserve in Craigsmoor, NY. The drive up was amazing and I knew as we drove up and up and up to get to the park that we'd be in for a treat.
The view was just spectacular.  This was as close as I got to the edge, but DBF isn't a loser and walked out much further, assuring me that the view was "so much" better there.  Yeah, that's ok, I'm good right here.

This was the trail we had just been on!  Although some parts of the trail are steep, its all on a trail.  No rock climbing involved.

I love this shot.  Doesn't it seem like I'm looking out on an ocean?  Nope, just more beautiful wooded landscapes out there.

At the top of the climb is a gorgeous lake.  The wind was kicking up really good at this elevation and waves were chopping up the surface of the lake.  There's something so serene about being by water.  If it weren't so cold up there, I could have spent the entire day soaking up the sun and listening to the water.

If you're in the area, I definitely recommend taking a couple hours to explore this park.  We were there about two hours and saw a good chunk of it, and there's a waterfall and a whole other 2+ mile trail that we didn't attempt.

Purex and Simple

I found a Rite Aid last week that had the additional pages in their circular, and I took a trip over there today to see if they had them this week too.  They sure did!  Here's what I got:

Working on a Free Ham

We're doing Thanksgiving at the house this year so I'm trying to spend enough to earn a free ham.  Since its my first time cooking a big meal in the house (for more than just DBF and myself) I'm playing it a little safe and going with a ham.  My family doesn't care if we have turkey or ham, the important thing is that we're all having fun together.  I'll work my way up to a turkey, maybe next year.

I can't remember how holiday points are earned at ShopRite, anyone know?  Before or after ShopRite coupons, before manu coupons?  Who can remember.  I have $25.72 so far towards the promo.  Here's what I got today:

  • 9 Lipton Tea + Honey Mixes $1.99 each (shelf $2.49 each) used four $0.60 coupons (9/9 RP) and four $0.75 coupons, got back $7 catalina and will get back $5 Savingstar credit (does this work based on shelf prices?  Not sure) = $4.89 profit if the Savingstar clears, if not $0.11 for all 9
  • 4 Ricola Sugar Free Cough Drops $1.33 each, used four $0.75 coupons (10/14 RP) = FREE
  • Fleischman's No Knead Bread Mix $2.79 (reg price), used $0.75 coupon (10/14 RP) and $0.75 ecoupon = $0.54
  • 8 Italian Village Raviolis $0.88 each
  • SR Eggs $1.88
  • Used $5 catalina, total was $11.57
This was my first time using an ecoupon at ShopRite and I was very happy that I didn't have any issues.  I looked all around the store for ShopRite flatbread ($0.99, $1 ecoupon) but couldn't find them.  I checked the bakery section, the bread aisle, anyone know where these are located?

Back It Up and Do It Again

I dare you to listen to this song and see if your foot isn't tapping along to the beat within the first 30 seconds. I love the big band 40's feel to her songs.  This tune has been stuck inside my head all day.  And if you like Back It Up, try Absolutely Me.  Love it!
Rite Aid - went back for more of the same goodies as yesterday.  Used DBF's card....but the cashier didn't scan it and I didn't realize until I'd already paid and no UP's printed on the receipt.  The manager ended up returning everything and then re-ringing everything fresh.  But returns are never simple at RA and it took about 20 minutes to do that.  Oy.

  • 2 Got2Be Oil-licious $6.49 each, BOGO sale, used $2 RA coupon (Oct Video Values) and got back two $4 UP's (monthly deal, Limit 2) = $3.51 profit
  • 4 Dex 4 Liquid Berry Burst (2 oz) $2.39 each, will get back $10 (SCR #38, $1 WYB 1 or $5 WYB 2, Limit 2) = $0.44 profit

  • 2 Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razors $8.79 each ($10.99 reg price, 20% discount), used two $4 coupons (10/7 RP) and got back two $4 UP's (Limit 2) = $0.79 each
  • 2 City Color Nail Polishes $0.99 each ($1.99 reg price, 20% discount) = $1.98 - thought I'd get back a $3 UP for each (WYB Halloween makeup items) but no UP's printed
  • Used $27 in UP's, total was $2.41
I'm going to chat with Customer Service about the UP's for the nail polish and see if they'll send them to me.
Here's a close up of the polishes to avoid.

New Addition to the Family

Say hello to Minnie!  Isn't she adorable?  My sister took her in a couple months back.  She belonged to my sister's friend, who kept her outside 90% of the time and could no longer keep her once her daughter became allergic to the dog.  She's about 12 years old so my sister volunteered to take her in, rather than having her go to a shelter.
I don't understand people who get pets and then just leave them outside and alone all the time.  Dogs are not lawn ornaments.  They need love and attention.
"Can I please come inside with you?"  How could you say no to those beautiful eyes?
Now she has a much better life, living inside a cozy condo with my sister and Rocky.  She's such a cutie!
On my way home from visiting my family, I finally did something I've wanted to do for a year.  I stopped along the way and took pictures of the beautiful scenery!  I've driven by this lake countless times and now I can share the beauty with you.

I just love the fall!  The leaves could stay these colors all year round and I'd be perfectly happy.
