Yummy Sunday Mornings

UPDATE - thanks Tanya for the tip. The rebate forms within the Bayer monitors are fine even if they're expired. I just called to confirm and was told to just send in the card in the box, they've extended the rebate.
Walgreens - this store had a TON of the Hunts in stock, and I didn't come close to cleaning them out by buying 11 cans. The cans rang up regular price as 5 for $4 (this is what's called a Mega Saver price, basically a month long Walgreens sale price) not as $0.99 each, so the total was $8.80 before the circular coupon. I'll probably have to buy two more cans to get up to $10 for the rebate. You'd probably be better off only buying a couple at a time and that's what I'm going to do for my second set of rebates in DBF's name. HCW folks are saying you can buy four at a time and still get the $0.99 price. Once you buy the 5th, they'll start going down to the cheaper price.
  • 11 Hunts Tomato Sauce (8 oz) $0.39 each with in-circular coupon, will submit for $5 rebate (WYB $10 worth, ESR #29) = $0.71 profit
  • Total was $4.29, paid with WAG gift card

CVS - got a $5 off $30 coupon from the scanner machine for my card and DBF's card. It was only valid for three days so we quickly came up with some stuff to buy

My Card - this has to be my highest total at CVS, ever!

  • Bayer Breeze 2 Glucose Monitoring System $14.99, submit for $14.99 mail in rebate (in package) = FREE
  • Crest Pro-Health Enamel Care $3.49, used $1 coupon (2/8 P&G) and got back $3.49 EB (Limit 1) = $1 profit
  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Foundation $7.99, use $3 coupon (April Glamour magazine) and get back $5 EB (Limit 1) = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • 7 papers $2 each
  • Used $5 off $30 coupon, $2.99 EB, $4 EB, total was $24.48 - used up a gift card and paid $1.60 cash

DBF's Card

  • Bayer Breeze 2 Glucose Monitoring System $14.99, submit for $14.99 mail in rebate (in package) = FREE
  • Crest Pro-Health Enamel Care $3.49, used $1 coupon (2/8 P&G) and got back $3.49 EB (Limit 1) = $1 profit
  • Titan peeler/slicer/grater $14.99
  • Used $5 off $30 coupon, $4 EB, $4.99 EB and $5 EB, total was $13.48

Hmm, opened up both Bayer boxes just now and the rebate forms expired 1/31/09!! There's a note saying if the rebate has expired, call this number, blah blah blah. So I'll call them tomorrow and hopefully they'll send me out a new rebate form. That's kind of a hassle!

Don't these look delicious? There's nothing better on a Sunday morning than fresh bagels. Yum! DBF and I picked up a dozen and used a coupon for three free bagels when you buy nine. These plus DBF's coffee came to $8 and change.

I got the $5 off $30. Mine says good for only 3 days, but it also says expires 3/29. I thought it must only be valid for next weekend. Any idea?

I wasn't able to get to CVS today since I had to work and it was hubby's b-day. I'll be going tomorrow!

BTW - the last time I bought the contour's the rebate was expired. When I called the number the lady said not to worry about it. I filled out the expired form and still got the rebate :)

Shelly,
I know, isn't that weird? It didn't beep for me when I used it. I guess you could hold on to it and use it up until 3/29. That's the date it says if they give you trouble about it.

Tanya,
Happy birthday to your hubby! Thanks for the info on the monitors, that's good to know.

I have a question about the tomato sauce at Walgreens. Does the $10 in savings have to be on one receipt or can it be spread over several receipts? The $.39 tomato sauce coupon has a limit of 3 per coupon, so how were you able to buy 11 at one time and get the $.39price. I was only allowed to get three at that price. I'd have to buy 25 cans in order to spend close to $10...so how does this work? Do you circle the higher ($.99 price on the receipt for the rebate?) Thanks for putting up with me as I learn how this works...
