Big Profits at ShopRite

The deals at ShopRite this week are awesome! I love making money off food items! The catalinas that you earn for each deal are spaced out over a couple weeks. One is valid 3/6-3/12, one 3/13-3/19, one 3/20-3/26 and the final from 3/27-4/2. Each deal also gives you a coupon for a free reusable bag (valid until 3/12). The only catch with these catalinas is that you can only do each deal once per card. I've never run into this with a SR sale before, but I signed up for a couple "spare" Price Plus cards on their website to get around the problem. You'll be able to print a confirmation page that lists your club card number. If you're using self-checkout, just hit the "Enter Code" button on the screen and type in the number. This will act the same as if you'd swiped your card. You can use your catalinas all on your regular card. You just have to have a separate card when you're earning them.

I did these deals each three times, but all that stuff was too heavy to lug upstairs for my pic. So for simplicity's sake, here's the basic info:
  • 4 Dole Fruit Crisps $2 each, used four $0.75 coupons (1/9 SS) and 2 Dole Fruit Jars $2.50 each, used two $0.75 coupons (1/16 SS) = $4 and got back $12 in cats = $8 profit
  • 3 Splenda $2.99 each, used three $1 coupons = $5.97 and got back $12 in cats = $6.03 profit *This smaller size isn't listed in the circular, but it was marked in the store as being part of the promo. The cats printed each time I bought these so they definitely work.
  • 6 Ragu Pasta Sauces $8 (three for $4, be sure to buy two varieties to get the sale price on all), used four $0.30 coupons (1/30 RP) and Wishbone Dressing $2.50 ($2 if you buy two), used $0.50 coupon (1/30 RP) = $7.10 and got back $12 in cats = $4.90 profit
Definitely a fun day at ShopRite!

**It looks like the kits are ringing up as a sale price of $29.99 this week. So if you don't have a discount or get 10%, your kit will ring up for this price, potentially leaving you short $0.01 for the rebate. A bunch of folks on SD have called L'oreal to see if they'll honor the rebate but they're waiting to hear back.
  • L'Oreal Scenario (assuming you're at the 20% discount level) - buy two Youth Code Kits $27.99 each ($34.99 reg price) and one L'Oreal eye shadow $4.68 (reg $5.85), use two $10 RA coupons (Jan & Feb Video Values), two $3 Youth Code coupons (coming in Sunday's RP), $2 eye makeup coupon (1/23 RP) = $32.66 OOP. *Make sure you're spending at least $60 on L'oreal items so that you get all the UP's. Sometimes prices vary a bit, so its best to whip out your calculator in the store and make sure you've got your math right before you checkout. Also, the $10 rebate specifies that your purchases all be made in one transaction, so don't split this scenario up.
  • Second L'oreal Scenario: Youth Code Kit $27.99 each ($34.99 reg price) and Youth Code Product $19.99, use $10 RA kit coupon and $5 RA product coupon (Jan or Feb Video Values), two $3 Youth Code coupons (coming in Sunday's RP), get back $5 (SCR #10), three $5 UP's ($5 WYB $15) and submit for this $10 rebate = $3.02 profit

Guess who was waiting for me when I got home?

The GIGI! She is always waiting by the door for me. Mousse usually is lurking around, under the coffee table, peering around a corner but scampers away right after I come in. I have no idea why he runs, because he always comes back for a belly rub a minute later. Maybe he's afraid the vet will one day come knocking on his door?
Do your cats goat? Mine do it all the time! Gigi is especially prone to this. Sometimes I'll look over at her, see her tipping and when I call out to her, she always finishes the tip over and ends up on her side. Sometimes she'll stretch one of her paws out towards me, as if inviting me over for a belly rub. The moment I move towards her, she'll hurriedly get up, trot two feet away and "goat" again. It really is adorable, except when she sees you walking down the hallway carrying a basket or some other large object that obstructs your view of said kitty and decides that would be the opportune moment to do some stretching, thereby causing you to trip over her, crash into a wall or door frame, drop the large object you were holding and whack your knee on something hard. At this point, she'll be safely down the hall looking at you with a puzzled expression, wondering why her human is so clumsy.
Yup, that's the expression.

By the way, my knee hurts.

Hold Up - You Gotta Look for These

Walgreens, oh lovely Walgreens. You have redesigned your packaging on diapers to a purty green package, which means all these older white packages just gotta go. Thank you for clearancing them! And double thank you for also releasing a $2 diapers coupon at the same time!

I saw these diapers clearanced yesterday when I was on a peelie hunt (see my 2/13 post for details on upcoming deal), but didn't think much of them. Then as I was drifting off to sleep, thinking happy thoughts, a wonderous idea popped into my head. "frugalsuz - you just found a $2 WAG diaper coupon the other day! Do you think it would work on these clearanced diapers? That's an excellent question self! We shall have to try it!" And try it I did....(and yes I do sometimes talk to myself in third person. Don't you?!?)
  • Walgreens diapers - clearanced to $2.24 (down from $8.99), used $2 WAG coupon for diapers (found in Infant Care booklet, pic here) = $0.24 each!
I'm not even going to tell you how many I bought. Suffice it to say, I filled up my cart and then some. :)

Then off to Rite Aid for some glucosamine for my hunny. I was planning on using $3 coupons (2/6 RP) but spotted the $5 peelies on some of the more expensive bottles. They're good on any variety so I used those instead.
  • 2 Flex-a-Min Glucosamine $14.99 each, BOGO sale, used two $5 peelie coupons and got back $2 UP (WYB 2) = $2.99 or $1.49 each
  • Used $4 in UP's, total was $1.26
CVS
  • Physician's Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Jumbo Mascara $10.99, used $3 peelie coupon and $3 off $10 cosmetics CRT coupon and will submit for $10.95 rebate (must include TMF sticker to qualify) = $5.96 profit
  • Used $5 EB (adjusted down to $4.99), total was $0.21

UP's to Rebates

RiteAid - the manager at this store manually inputted all my Boiron coupons. I think two of my $3 coupons stuck together because when I was at the second store, I only had one $3 coupon left to use. I know I printed four of them. Oh well
  • Coldcalm Children's Multi-Symptom Cold Relief (80 ct) $6.99, used $3 coupon and will get back $6.99 (SCR #16) = $3 profit *Counts towards Buy & Save promo
  • Children's Chestal Honey Homeopathic Cough Syrup (4.2 oz) $4.99, used $3 coupon and will get back $4 (SCR #12) = $2.01 profit *Counts towards Buy & Save promo

  • Oscillococcinum Adult (6 ct) $8.99, used $2 coupon and will get back $8 (SCR #18) = $1 profit
  • Chestal Cough with Honey Adult Formula (8.45 oz) $6.99, used $1 coupon and will get back $6 (SCR #13) = FREE/$0.01 profit *Counts towards Buy & Save promo
  • Coldcalm Adult Multi-Purpose Cold Relief (60 ct) $5.99, will get back $5.99 (SCR #15) = FREE *Counts towards Buy & Save promo
  • Excedrin PM (20-24 ct) $1.99, used $2.50 Excedrin PM coupon (tearpad or 12/5 SS) = $0.51 profit
  • 2 MiniDrops Eye Therapy (30 ct) $4.99 each, used two $1 MiniDrops coupon and will get back $8 ($4 each, SCR #17, Limit 2) = FREE
  • 3 Garnier Moisturizers $7.99 (reg price), $6.39 with 20% discount, used three $2 coupons (12/5 or 2/6 RP) and three $3 in-circular coupons = $4.17 or $1.39 each
  • Used $1 Video Values coupon and $43.95 in UP's, total was $3.16, overall profit - $3.86
Realized when I got home that I bought the wrong size of Revitalens. The big one in the picture was $7.99 so I'll have to exchange it for the kind that's on rebate.

At the second store, I did the same transaction, except I got two Excedrins and four Betty Crockers. The manager here would not manually input my MiniDrops coupon (doesn't scan at all) because there was no expiration date on it. Sure enough, she was right! I also used one less $3 coupon, because like I said earlier, I think it stuck to the ones I used at the first store.

The cost of that transaction was $0.20, but would have been a moneymaker if all my coupons had been used. Its ok though, that's a hell of a lot of UP's that I've just turned into cash. It makes me nervous sometimes to have that much reward money lying around. Its sometimes hard to make the best use of it all!

DBF and I also stopped by ShopRite and used some catalinas on some prepared food from the deli. He got some fried chicken and I picked up a container of penne with vodka sauce. I'm going to use these purchases towards a Heineken NBPR rebate for $10 off a $10.01 purchase of "fresh and hot food selections" (HUSA8310).

Turning UP's into Cash

One last RA trip for the week. Got my coupon order from Mad Coupons on Wednesday, which is when I realized the P&G insert wasn't included for this week. Today, my mom gave me her coupons from last Sunday, so I was able to do the Prilosec deal once. Its not a big moneymaker, but it is a way to turn a great deal of UP's into cash and that always works for me.
  • 15 Lays Stax $1 each, got back $1 UP for each (monthly deal, UP's are valid until 3/15) and $5 UP (WYB $15 worth of qualifying items, back page of circular) = $5 profit
  • 2 K-Y Warming Liquids $4.99 each, BOGO 50% off, used two $3 coupons (also here) and got back $5 UP (WYB 2) = $2.51 profit *Counts towards Buy & Save promo
  • 2 Prilosec OTC (42 ct) $28.99 reg price, $23.19 each with 20% discount, used $8 off 2 coupon (1/30 P&G), got back two $7 UP's (one for each) and will submit for $25 rebate = $0.62 profit
  • Used $53 in UP's, total was $1.39
The Prilosec is on sale for $24.99. You either get the sale price or your Wellness discount, whichever is better. This means that if you're at the 10% level on your card, you'll get it for the $24.99 price. This store had tons of Lays, so I didn't think twice about buying 15 of them.
