MIA

Wow, its been a whole week since I've posted.  I think that's a record here on HWFS!  Well, I have a very good reason for the delay.  I'm now a homeowner!  Da boyfriend and I bought a wonderful house in upstate New York.  I'm a New Yorka' now!  As you can imagine, its been a flurry of moving boxes, sore muscles and lots and lots of driving.  I've managed to move almost all of my stockpile already.  Luckily that was the easy part - it was already stored in my garage so it didn't have to be lugged up or down any stairs.  I have a lovely (and large) room on the first floor of the house just for all those goodies.  I can't wait until its all organized!

I've still got tons more things to move, but we've got plenty of time until my lease is up so there's no rush.  Closing on the house was quite a process.  We put the offer in on the house during the fourth of July weekend!  Since then, its just been one issue after another.  We both took vacation time last week, hoping for a closing date of Monday or Tuesday.  Then a freak snowstorm hit and knocked out power in NJ and NY, so we didn't close until Friday.  But happily, that's all behind us now and we've got the all-important keys to the house.

I have lots of pictures to share with you, but still no computer.  I've held off buying one because DBF's computer is only a year old and we're just going to use that.  I didn't count on it taking quite this long, but soon enough I'll be back to showering you with pictures of shampoo, pasta and all the other goodies I buy.  And of course, my new and improved stockpile room!  Wooooo!

Congratulations & welcome to Upstate NY! Are we neighbors? I'm glad you moved to another NBPR state.

Thanks! I'm in Orange County, I think you're further north right?

Yes, probably 1.5-2 hours north of you. But you still have your SR :)
I am so totally loving that store. I am happy they came back to the Capital district.

Enjoy your new home...

Congrats on the new home!
Trading NJ taxes for NY taxes won't hurt quite so much, will it?lol

I use to do some of my shopping in Orange Co. when we lived near Milford, PA.
As a matter of fact, our old house is up for sale right now and we were thinking of buying it back.lol

I hope you, BF and the stockpile will have many happy years there....

Congratulations! Such happy news!!!! Moving sucks but enjoy organising your new place and making it your own. No more white walls unless you want them white!
Until you get a chance to post some pics, please tell us a bit more about the house so we can live vicariously:-)

lol Elizabeth, sure. Its a side by side split level, has three bedrooms (possibly four), two full baths, a beautiful kitchen, sliding glass doors and its on almost 3/4 of an acre. I just love it! It needs a lot of updating, its practically covered in wood paneling, but we'll work on that slowly but surely.
