Roll It Like You Mean It!

Big thanks to Price Prowler for posting the John Frieda deal! I'm partial to the volume variety, but any kind of JF should work for the deal.

Walgreens
  • Dentek Roll Comfort Clean Floss (55 yard) $2, got back $2 RR = FREE
  • 3 John Frieda sham/cond $5 each, used three $3 coupons (3/7 SS) and got back $5 RR (WYB 3) = $1 or $0.33 each
  • Used $7 RR, total was $2.19

Then I rolled:

  • Dulcolax Balance 14 Day (8.3 oz) $10, used $3 coupon (hangtag or 12/13 SS) and got back $10 RR = $3 profit
  • Walgreens bottle soda $0.39 with in-circular coupon
  • Butterfinger chocolate egg $0.39 with in-circular coupon
  • Used $2 RR and $5 RR, total was $0.84

Then I rolled:

  • $10 Walgreens gift card
  • Dove sham/cond $4, got back $4 RR = FREE
  • 3 John Frieda sham/cond $5 each, used three $3 coupons (3/7 SS) and got back $5 RR (WYB 3) = $1 or $0.33 each
  • Used two $10 RR's, total was $1.33

Then I rolled:

  • Dulcolax Balance 14 Day (8.3 oz) $10, used $3 coupon (hangtag or 12/13 SS) and got back $10 RR = $3 profit
  • Dentek Roll Comfort Clean Floss (55 yard) $2, got back $2 RR = FREE
  • Nestle Crunch bar $0.89, will submit for TMF rebate (Exp. 3/31, tearpad form I found at ShopRite) = FREE
  • Used $4 RR and $5 RR, total was $1.03

Then finally I rolled:

  • Dove sham/cond $4, got back $4 RR = FREE
  • 3 John Frieda sham/cond $5 each, used three $3 coupons (3/7 SS) and got back $5 RR (WYB 3) = $1 or $0.33 each
  • Used $10 RR, total was $1.33

I used a gift card to pay for the OOP cost on each transaction. I normally wouldn't "pay" for shampoo or conditioner, but I have discovered that I really love John Frieda! Plus the profit from buying one Dulcolax covered the cost of all nine bottles of JF. I've cleaned out a great deal of my sham/cond stockpile lately because all of a sudden, my hair just doesn't like Garnier products anymore, and of course, that's what I had the most of. They make my hair so greasy! I've never had this problem with Garnier before, but it seems like every once and a while, my hair can't stand a brand of sham/cond anymore and I have to switch it up. Does that happen to anyone else?

Untitled

Walgreens
  • Dulcolax Balance 14 Day (8.3 oz) $10, used $4 coupon, got back $10 RR = $4 profit
  • Evian bottled water $1.69, used FREE coupon (WYB Dulcolax, 3/7 SS) = FREE *Cashier had to manually put in a coupon for this amount
  • Simply Saline Allergy (4.25 oz) $7, used $1 coupon (10/8, 11/15 or 1/24 SS or peelie coupon) and got back $7 RR = $1 profit
  • Total was $12 - paid with gift cards

Then I used those RR's to buy some snacks for a second Dos Equis NBPR rebate I'm doing ($10 WYB $15 worth of snacks, Exp. 3/31)

  • 3 Rold Gold pretzels $2.99 each
  • 2 Sun Chips $3.79 each
  • Used $10 RR, total was $6.55

Second store - this transaction was such a mess. I had planned on buying some clearanced Pantene, but I didn't realize until I was paying that my coupons were for $3 off 2 bottles, not one bottle. I asked the cashier to void those off the order. Then they couldn't get both the $4 Dulcolax coupon and the free water coupon to work, so he voided off the water for me. Then I was left without enough items/total to use a $7 RR, so I went to use a gift card to pay (the line behind me had about doubled at this point). Of course, I forgot that the gift card had been used up already, so I quickly grabbed a ten out of my wallet, forked it over, grabbed my change and ran. haha

  • Dulcolax Balance 14 Day (8.3 oz) $10, used $4 coupon, got back $10 RR = $4 profit
  • Morton Salt $0.99 - forgot to use the in-circular coupon to make this $0.50, oy!
  • Total was $6.99

A&P

  • 2 packages 80% lean ground beef $1.88/lb = $3.84 and $3.85
  • 2 Perdue chicken nuggets - clearanced to $1.99 each
  • 2 Healthy Ones turkey lunchmeat - clearanced to $0.59 each
  • Half gallon milk $2.04
  • Total was $16.90

Do I Look Like a Fire Hydrant?!?

It had been ages since Shadow and Riley had had a play date. Kelly wrested Riley into her car, we bundled Shadow up into DBF's truck and off we went to the dog park. I would have taken pictures, but its a huge park with lots of room for dogs to get a good running start. If you've ever been to a dog park, then you know that the dogs love nothing more than to sprint past you at top speed with only inches to spare, much too dangerous an environment for a clumsy gal with a Nikon. Both dogs had a blast! They especially loved jumping all over us. By the time we left, my pants and coat were covered in muddy paw prints.

I was expecting mud. I was expecting dirt. But I was definitely NOT expecting to be peed on! These two women came in to the park with two goofball chocolate labs and as I bent down to pet one, he lifted up his leg and...PISSED ON MY LEG! People, let me tell you, I have been around dogs forever. I've even worked in a vet's office and I have never, NEVER been piddled on! I didn't even know what to say! The ladies just laughed it off and said, "oh, he's such a character, he always does that when we come here." Well ya know what? Maybe you should warn people! I spent the rest of the time at the park dodging that chocolate pisser. DBF is still chuckling about it. Hardy har har honey. ;)
ShopRite
  • 4 Wisk Laundry Detergents $2.99 each, used four $2 coupons (3/14 RP) = $3.96 or $0.99 each
  • Doritos Late Night $2.99 - we got the taco flavor and DBF loved them! This will finish off a Dos Equis NBPR rebate for $10 WYB $15 worth of snacks (Exp. 3/31)
  • Pepsi Max Cease Fire $1.49, used FREE coupon (WYB Doritos Late Night, tearpad coupon I found at Stop & Shop) = FREE
  • Total was $7.79

Well That's a First

I had a coupon for a pillow today!
Target
  • Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips Eyeliner/shadow/highlighter thingie $7.99, used $5 peelie coupon and will submit for Try Me Free rebate = $5 profit
  • 2 Pillows $2.54 each, used two $1.50 coupons (click on Coupons at bottom) = $1.04 each
  • 4 Solar Lights $3 each, used four $2 coupons = $1 each
  • Total was $10.05
RiteAid - was looking for clearanced John Frieda, but no luck so I came up with this scenario on the fly.
  • 2 Giovanni Shampoos $8.99, BOGO sale and will submit for Try Me Free rebate (hangtags found on bottles) = two for FREE *These bottles didn't have the TMF tags, but I'm hoping I can find them separately
  • Always Pads $2.99, used $1 coupon (3/7 P&G) and will get back $1 (SCR #51) = $0.99
  • RA storage bags $2.79
  • John Frieda Frizz Ease Shampoo $6.49, used $1 RA coupon and $3 coupon (3/7 SS) = $2.49 *This will now qualify me for $6.49 (SCR #4). This rebate covers the cost of a JF Frizz Ease styler WYB a sham/cond. The picture in the monthly booklet includes a picture of a different variety of JF, even though that wasn't included. I bought the styler previously and when it didn't qualify for the rebate, I returned it. The sneaky thing about the SCR's is that unless you enter in the receipt info for the return, the system doesn't pick up the return.
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon, total was $12.19

At another store, I did almost the same thing for DBF's account

  • 2 Giovanni Shampoos $8.99, BOGO sale and will submit for Try Me Free rebate (hangtags found on bottles) = two for FREE
  • Always Pads $2.99, used $1 coupon (3/7 P&G) and will get back $1 (SCR #51) = $0.99
  • John Frieda Frizz Ease Shampoo $6.49, used $1 RA coupon and $3 coupon (3/7 SS) = $2.49 *This will now qualify me for $6.49 (SCR #4).
  • 2 Softsoap hand soaps $0.99 each
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon, total was $11.32

One of the few Acme locations near me is closing down! They had signs posted everywhere that the store is closing and almost everything was 50% off. I poked around but there was very little left and the store was mobbed.

Profit on Cereal

Stop & Shop - found this awesome deal on The Coupon Goddess
  • 12 boxes Cinnamon Chex (13.5 oz) and Cinnamon Toast Crunch (12.8 and 15.7 oz) cereals $2 each (shelf price $3.79 and $3.59 each), used four $0.75 coupons and $2 off 2 coupon (printed after I scanned the Chex) = $15.85 ($0.15 bag discount) and got back two $10 catalinas = $4.15 profit *Doing the math now, I realized my total was $44, so I could have bought one less box of cereal to increase my profit

I got back one $10 cat for every $20 that I spent on GM cereals. I read on HCW that the deal doubled (spend $40, get back $20) and since there are few S&S's in my area, I decided to spend the greater amount OOP and do the deal twice all at once. This deal is not advertised in the circular, so I was very careful to only select the varieties and sizes that this store had marked as participating items in the aisle. I'm going to see what other coupons I can scrounge up and do the deal (or maybe something different) tomorrow at a different S&S.

CVS - had a whole bunch of expired EB's to use up. This store accepts them up to one week past the date and I don't think I did too bad.

  • 2 Stayfree Maxi Pads (16 - 24 count) $3.69 each, used BOGO coupon (1/3 RP), $1 coupon and $4 off 2 CVS coupon (from scanner) and got back $4 EB ($2 EB each, Limit 4, monthly deal) = $5.31 profit
  • Colgate Total Advanced, Enamel or Sensitive Toothpaste (6 - 7.6 oz) $3.99, used $1 coupon (April All You magazine) and got back $3.99 EB (Limit 1) = $1 profit
  • Crest Rinse (14.8 - 16.9 oz) $3.99, used $2 coupon (2/7 P&G) and got back $2 EB (Limit 1) = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • 5 Dawn with Olay Dish Soaps (9.5 - 10.3 oz) $0.96 each, used five $0.50 coupons (3/7 P&G) = $2.30 or $0.46 each
  • 4 Rold Gold pretzels $2.99 each and Tostitos $3.99, will submit for $8 Budweiser NBPR rebate (WYB $15 worth of salty snacks or a bunch of other items) = $7.95 or $1.59 each
  • 4 CVS gallon size slider storage bags (20 count) $2.79 each, BOGO 50% off sale = $8.37 or $2.09 each *These were cheaper than the smaller size packages of zipper seal bags - weird!
  • Used $4 off $20 coupon (recyclebank - still available?), $1.50 EB, $4 EB, $5 EB, $7 EB and $7.99 EB, total was $2.14, got back $1 EB for using my green bag tag

Randomness

These storage boxes have recently found a new home in my garage room/stockpile room. DBF's mom had had them since before DBF was born and gifted them to me.
They definitely look their age but I think that only adds to their charm.
This poor corner had a falling out with Shadow when her toys were locked up inside. What's a pup to do? They had to be rescued!
Guess what's living in them now?
Garbage bags! And kitty litter! I'm sure Anheuser-Busch would be proud.
  • My hair dryer started to sputter and fuss this morning, so I went "shopping" in my stockpile for a new one. Love that.
  • I used up my last gallon size Ziploc bag this afternoon and unhappily discovered that I'm totally out of these. Oops!
  • I have a bunch of expired EB's on my boyfriend's card that I have to use up. One store by me takes expired ones up to one week past the date, which is tomorrow. CVS's lackluster deals lately have made me lazy, I keep forgetting to check my dates and now I am forced to spend them. I'm sure I'll think of something to get, but I hate feeling under the gun like that. Maybe I can work some Ziploc bags into my scenarios.
  • My rebates are calling my name. I've got a mile-high stack of receipts and rebate forms to fill out. Definitely not my favorite thing in the world to do. I wish I could just get a stamp made up with my name and address and BAM! stamp it and go.
  • Speaking of rebates, I got my Kmart gift cards back for doing the Hershey's Pieces deal. The wording on the back of the cards looks like the standard gift card disclosure info. I wonder if they will work like regular gift cards even though they say "Good towards $10 of Hershey's Products"? Waddya think?

Spring Cleaning

I've got the bug! I went through my closets and pulled out some clothes and shoes I don't wear anymore to donate. I also dropped off my mountain of Stayfree and other assorted items to a local ShopRite. They have a bin for the town's food pantry and you can drop off your items and go. I love that! Previously, I took all my stuff to another town's food pantry and you had to walk in the building, down the hall, find the director, wait for her to open her office, hand over the bags one by one as she found a space in the office for each. Then another trip back out to the car, in again, etc. It was such a hassle that I always put it off. And they were only open during regular business hours, so it was so hard to get there. Now I just find a shopping cart, load it up and drop everything off at once. Its so convenient. I made a donation last week too, and both trips filled up an entire shopping cart. I love being able to pass on items to others that can use them.

Once that was done, I headed inside for a quick trip:
  • 4 Breakstone Sour Creams $0.99 each, used two $0.55 coupons and two $0.60 coupons (all doubled fully! I was shocked) = $0.64 profit
  • Pillsbury Grands Cinnabon Rolls $1.99, used freebie coupon (I've had this FOREVER! I think I got it from Vocal Point, cashier put in as $1.35 because I wasn't expecting the overage) = FREE
  • Total was zero

Second ShopRite

  • 4 Breakstone Sour Creams $0.99 each, used two $0.55 coupons and two $0.60 coupons = $0.64 profit
  • Half gallon milk $1.99
  • Fleischmann's butter $0.99
  • Total was $2.29

Here's the Irish Beer rebate I was talking about above (green form). I also realized I can count the fruits and veggies I bought the other day for the rebate on the right from Natural Light - $6 WYB $10 worth of a whole lotta stuff, including produce. Stayfree Stupor

The Frizz Ease stylers I bought the other day didn't clear for the RA rebate. I must have mis-read Laurie's post about them. I'll return them and get my moolah back.

RiteAid - I forgot to bring my Video Values coupons for the Stayfree with me, but I still did pretty well. I'm going to print out some copies to use to finish up the deal for DBF's rebates.

First Store
  • 4 Stayfree Maxi Pads $6.99 each, BOGO 50% off sale (second will be $3.50), used two BOGO coupons (*Cashier took off $6.99 for each, 1/3 RP) and $5 off $20 coupon = $1.98

Second Store

  • 6 Stayfree Maxi Pads $6.99 each, BOGO 50% off sale, used three BOGO coupons (*Cashier took off $3.50 for each - bummer, 1/3 RP) and $5 off $20 coupon = $15.97

Now I've spent $50 towards SCR #24 ($25 WYB $50 worth of J&J products), so $7.05 profit.

For DBF's account:

  • 4 Stayfree Maxi Pads $6.99 each, BOGO 50% off sale (second will be $3.50), used two BOGO coupons (*Cashier took off $6.99 for each - got lucky again! 1/3 RP) and $5 off $20 coupon = $1.98

I just have to buy six more and I'm good to go.

Walgreens

  • 4 Excedrin Menstrual Variety two for $5.99 (first set rang up as $5.79 and $0.20, second as $3 and $2.99), used two freebie coupons (cashier entered in $5.79 for both - woo! from doing survey online, no longer available) and $2 Walgreens coupon (scanned four times automatically, from monthly coupon book) = $7.60 profit
  • Reese's Dark PB cup $0.49 with in-circular coupon (GIVE SECOND), used $0.55 coupon (3/14 SS) = $0.06 profit
  • 6 Velveeta shells and cheese $1.50 each
  • Total was $1.38

I could have used the overage from the Excedrin towards one of the RR deals this week, but there was nothing I really wanted so I decided to get some food instead. I had planned on getting two bags of flour ($1.50 each), but the store was totally out.

Lazy Sunday

I didn't do any shopping today. It was still raining cats and dogs and I needed a day off from all the shopping I did yesterday and Friday. DBF and I had a free lunch at Panera courtesy of my sister, poked around Petsmart and then just hung around the apartment in sweats.

Isn't this the cutest picture of Gigi? She is just in love with this toy! I've never seen her use a toy as a pillow before though.

Soggy Shopping

Its been raining and raining and raining for two days straight, which made for some very soggy shopping. I'm very glad I'm done now and back at home in warm, dry clothes. At least my balcony is being uncovered!

Another Fun RiteAid Week 3/14 - 3/20

As always, my deals all come from the wonderful folks at HCW, Slick Deals and Erica at iheartcvs.com, iheartriteaid.com and iheartwags.com.

CVS - thanks for these deals Sam!
  • Right Guard Total Defense $2.50, buy two and use two $1.50 coupons and get back $2 EB (WYB 2, Limit 1) = FREE
  • Kashi Cereal $2.50, use $1.50 coupon (Vocal Point home mailer) = $1 each

March Monthly Deal

  • Stayfree Maxi Pads (regular, 24 count) $3.99, buy two and use BOGO coupon (1/3 RP) and get back $4 EB ($2 EB each, Limit 4) = FREE/$0.01 profit
RiteAid - $3 off $15 coupon (Exp. 3/31), $5 off $20 coupon or $5 off $25 coupon or $5 off $25 coupon (Exp. 3/31)

  • Renpure Organics Sham/Cond $6.99, BOGO sale, use $3 RA coupon (wonder if it would let you use two?) and look for ones with TMF tags on them (also found at RA & CVS) = $3 - $6 profit
  • *Same SCR as last week* Almay Makeup BOGO sale (PSA $6.99 - mascaras) buy two and use two $2 coupons (2/7 SS) and get back $5 (SCR #7, WYB 2) = $2.01 profit
  • Trident Layers Gum $0.99, use $0.75 coupon (2/7 SS) and $0.25 RA Game of Life Ticket coupon = FREE/$0.01 overage
  • Welch's Grape Juice (64 oz) $3, use $1 coupon and $1 RA coupon = $1

Here we go again with the scenarios. Transaction One:

  • 4 Stayfree Pads $6.99 each, BOGO 50% off sale (second will be $3.50), buy four and use two BOGO coupons (1/3 RP), four $1 RA coupons (last month's Video Values coupon) and $5 off $20 coupon = $2 overage (or just use two RA coupons to make it FREE) This will give you $20.97 towards SCR #24 - $25 WYB $50 worth of J&J products. Hopefully the cashiers will enter in the $6.99 price for the coupon. If they enter in $3.50, your total will be $4.97, still a profit
  • Repeat once more with six pads instead of four = $0.51 overage (or just use one less RA coupon) Now you'll have $52.43 towards the rebate and you'll qualify for $25 = $25 profit (more if you went for the overage)

You could also buy this item which counts towards the J&J rebate as well:

  • Visine $4.99, use $3 coupon (March issue All You magazine) and $3 coupon from circular = $1.01 overage at register

Walgreens

  • Excedrin Menstrual two for $5.99 (may ring up funny, when I bought four, first set rang up as $5.79 and $0.20, second as $3 and $2.99), use two freebie coupons (from doing survey online, no longer available) and $2 Walgreens coupon (will scan twice automatically, from monthly coupon book) = profit - depends on how much your cashier inputs the freebie coupons for
  • Sudafed OM Sinus Congestion Nasal Sprays $4.99, buy two and use two $4 coupons (3/14 RP) and get back $5 RR = $3.02 profit
  • Revlon Matte Eyeshadow $4.99 regular price, 40% off sale so $2.99, buy four and use four $2 coupons (2/21 SS) and get back $5 RR *Good on your next purchase of Revlon, not a regular RR (WYB $10 worth) = $1.04 profit
  • Colgate Total Advanced or Enamel Strength (5.8 oz) or Sensitive Toothpaste (6 oz) $3.99, use $1 coupon and get back $4 RR = $1.01 profit or FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Reese's Dark PB cup $0.49 with in-circular coupon (GIVE SECOND), use $0.55 coupon (3/14 SS) = $0.06 profit

General Printable Rebate Offers

Another RA Rebate Update

I also qualified for the $5 Metamucil rebate based on the purchases I made for DBF's account! I only bought the 120 count bottles of capsules for this account, so those must be the ones that qualify for this rebate. :)

This was Fun

ShopRite - I was so surprised to get overage on the $4 coupon today. I went to five different ShopRites and only one cashier adjusted the coupons down! That never happens to me at SR. The coupons don't beep or require manager override. Here's the meat and potatoes of the transactions:
  • 4 Knox Nutra Mix for Strong Nails $3.49 each (found with other vitamins & Knox stuff), used four $4 coupons (2/14 RP or found in Healthy Savings booklet found in stores) and got back $4 catalina for spending $25 on Knox products (calculated based on shelf prices) = $6.04 profit

Here's what I used as fillers to eat up the overage: 3 Reeses king size candy bars $1 each, GoodLife cat treats $2.49 and three Capri Sun's $2.29 each. I'll use the Capri Suns towards the $20 Kraft Back to School rebate (WYB 10 crackers, 5 beverages and 5 Easy Mac cups).

One store didn't have four of the nail supplements, so I bought:

  • 2 Knox Nutri Joint (canisters) $4.99 each ($9.99 shelf price) and one of the Nail thingies. Total after three $4 coupons was $1.47, so $2.53 profit after the $4 catalina.

RiteAid - these are for my set of rebates. I've bought 6 bottles of John Frieda sham/cond already, so I've done the rebate twice ($5 WYB 3, Limit 3 rebates). These four Biore finish out that rebate.

  • 2 Biore Pore Strips (6-8 ct) $5 and 2 Biore cleansing towelettes $5, used four $1 RA coupons, two BOGO coupons (3/7 SS) and two $2 off 2 coupons (peelie coupon from packages) = $2 and will get back $5 for SCR #41 ($5 WYB 3, Limit 3 rebates) = $3 profit
  • Psssssst shampoo $6.49, will submit for Try Me Free rebate at my parents' address (sticker on package) = FREE
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon (or $5 off $25 coupon), total was $5

RA Rebates - Unexpected Bonus

So here's the update for MY set of rebates (items purchased in this post). I was cleared for:

$10 RA Gift Card - SCR #18
$10 John Frieda/Biore SCR #41
$1 Crest SCR #39

These were all I expected, but I also qualified for SCR #13 - $5 for Metamucil! The sizes of the bottles I bought didn't match the ones listed in the SCR booklet, so I wasn't expecting this at all. Since I bought three different kinds of Metamucil this day (huge bottle, medium bottle and capsules), unfortunately I don't know which one did the trick.

Excusez Moi?

Well this is a first. A cashier actually told me to leave his store today. "Take it and go" were his exact words. Here are the transactions that put him over the edge...
Rite Aid - these rebates are mostly for DBF's account, which is why they're pretty much a repeat of yesterday
  • Psssssst shampoo $6.49, will submit for Try Me Free rebate (sticker on package) = FREE
  • Biore Pore Strips $9.99 (bought wrong size - has to be 6-8 ct) and Biore cleansing towelettes $5, used two $1 RA coupons, BOGO coupon (3/7 SS) and $2 off 2 coupon (got from inside a package I bought previously, I've also seen these on the packages) = $5.99 and counts towards SCR #41 $5 WYB 3, Limit 3 rebates
  • 2 Almay Makeup Remover Pads $5.50 each *These are NOT on sale for the BOGO price even though the store had them marked this way, used two $2 coupons (2/7 SS *these beeped) and will get back $5 (SCR #7, WYB 2) = $2 for both
  • Crest toothpaste $2.74, used $1 coupon (2/21 P&G) and will get back $1 (SCR #39) = $0.74
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon (or $5 off $25 coupon), total was $22.34

Man, that was a whole lotta stress for this cashier. The Almay coupons beeped, so he rang up one of the makeup removers, checked the price, voided that item and manually entered the coupon. He did the same thing for the Crest toothpaste coupon (don't ask me why) but then added a new twist - after scanning, he crumpled the coupon up in his hand and tossed it on the floor. Ok...

On to transaction two. I'd asked him before I even started if it was ok for me to do two transactions and he said that was fine. Apparently, at some point during transaction #1, he'd begun reevaluating that decision. I put up my three measly items and off we went.
  • 2 Cover Girl TrueBlend makeups (note - the coupons beeped on these items) $12.99 each, used BOGO coupon (2/7 P&G) and $1 coupon (2/7 P&G or 2/14 RP) = $1 profit
  • Metamucil Powder (114 dose) or Capsules (120 ct) $9.99, used $3 coupon (2/7 P&G) = $6.99
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon (or $5 off $25 coupon), total was $0.99 because...

He could not figure out how to enter in the $12.99 price manually for the Cover Girl coupon. So he decided to void one of the CG makeups off the receipt, so I was only paying for one. Normally that would have been fine with me, but since these are on sale (BOGO), that means I'm paying for one of them when that should have been free with the sale. When I pointed this out to him, I swear he was going to blow a gasket. He voided off the second CG and said - "take it and go." RUDE! I'm going to write RA Customer Service about his horrible attitude. Plus it can't be correct for him to let me walk out of the store with two items that I didn't pay for (coupons or not)!

I went to another RA that's much friendlier to discuss what happened. I mistakingly thought he'd charged me for three Almays (because of that void) so the cashier and I carefully went through the receipt together. She showed me that I only paid for two, which was a relief.

  • Prevacid 24 Hour (42 ct) $25.99, used $10 coupon (USA Weekend) OR $10 RA coupon (this is a manufacturer's coupon, not a RA coupon) and will submit for TMF rebate (2/28 Parade Magazine in newspaper) for $21.99 = $6 profit
  • Biore Pore Strips $10.49 (bought wrong size - has to be 6-8 ct) and Biore cleansing towelettes $4.24, used two $1 RA coupons, BOGO coupon (3/7 SS) and $2 off 2 coupon (got from inside a package I bought previously, I've also seen these on the packages) = $6.49 and counts towards SCR #41 $5 WYB 3, Limit 3 rebates
  • Metamucil Powder (114 dose) or Capsules (120 ct) $9.99, used $3 coupon (2/7 P&G) = $6.99
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon (or $5 off $25 coupon), total was $25.15

After I checked out, the cashier and I were chatting and we realized that the Biore strips were more expensive than they should have been ($10.49 - should have been $5). Turns out I bought the wrong size (14 ct), both at this store and the "fun" store before. I returned both those packages and exchanged them for two of the right size - refund of $11.22. Then she and the manager did a return/thingie to give me back $4 cash. They scanned two $2 off 2 coupons from the packages of the strips and gave me cash for them! How cool is that?

One last store - drama free!

  • Metamucil Powder (114 dose) or Capsules (120 ct) $9.99, used $3 coupon (2/7 P&G) = $6.99
  • 4 Cover Girl powders $6.05 each, BOGO sale, used two BOGO coupons (2/7 P&G) = FREE *no-go on also using the $1 coupons at this store
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon (or $5 off $25 coupon), total was $2.52

Then I bought:

  • Prevacid 24 Hour (42 ct) $25.99, used $10 coupon (USA Weekend) OR $10 RA coupon (this is a manufacturer's coupon, not a RA coupon) and will submit for TMF rebate (2/28 Parade Magazine in newspaper) for $21.99 = $6 profit
  • 2 Almay One Coat Mascaras $6.99 each, BOGO sale, used two $2 coupons (2/7 SS) and will get back $5 (SCR #7, WYB 2) = FREE/$0.01 profit *Just realized they entered the coupons as $2 items, not coupons. So it looks like I bought two $2 items. SIGH Guess I'm going back tomorrow about that
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon (or $5 off $25 coupon), total was $22.12

And one quick trip to Walgreens for mushrooms - $0.50 each, used gift card I bought using RR's

Ok dear friends, did you get all that? No? Well, I have no idea how I did today either, so let's break it down:

My rebates - bought yesterday and today:

  • John Frieda $10 SCR #41 ($5 WYB $15, Limit 3) - I bought 6 bottles so I could buy three more or do the Biore deal again (same rebate)
  • Metamucil & Crest $10 RiteAid gift card SCR #18
  • Crest toothpaste $1 SCR #39
  • Almay Mascaras $5 SCR #7
  • Prevacid $21.99 rebate
  • Spent $37.87 total, $47.99 coming back in rebates = $10.12 profit including tax

DBF's rebates

  • Biore $5 SCR #41 ($5 WYB $15, Limit 3) - I have to buy at least one more to get up to $10.
  • Metamucil & Crest $10 RiteAid gift card SCR #18
  • Crest toothpaste $1 SCR #39
  • Almay Makeup Removers $5 SCR #7
  • Prevacid $21.99 rebate
  • Pssssst $6.49 rebate
  • Spent $31.78 total, $49.48 coming back in rebates = $17.70 profit

I'm going to buy 5 more Biore's to max the rebate, that's $25 total. I would use two BOGO coupons, one $5 off $25 coupon, five $1 RA coupons and two $2 off 2 coupons, making my OOP $1. Then I'll get back another $15 for that rebate. Man, maybe I should have done that in the first place! All these coupon issues today gave me a headache!

Profit at RiteAid

CVS - I've decided to use up all the EB's on my card and get a new one, in the hopes that I'll get some better coupons. I'm going to use my EB's on rebate items to turn them into cash.
  • Psst shampoo $6.49, will submit for Try Me Free rebate (sticker on package) = FREE
  • Used $5 EB, total was $1.94

DBF's card - had an expired EB to use up

  • 2 Oral B Cross Action Toothbrushes $4 each, used two $1 coupons (2/7 or 2/21 P&G) and got back $8 EB ($4 EB each, Limit 2) = $2 profit
  • Gillette Fusion Razor $8.99, used $4 coupon (2/7 P&G) and got back $4 EB (Limit 1) = $0.99
  • Used $10.98 EB, total was $1.20

On to RiteAid - I had such a hard time figuring out my scenarios for this week. And I spent an hour or so last night watching all those stupid videos to get my Video Value coupons, only to have my printer jam when I went to print them. The website showed that I'd already printed them so it wouldn't let me print another set. Grr. I emailed tech support, but didn't get a response yet, so this morning, I set up another account and watched them all over again. Ugh.

I had a cashier and then a manager give me grief about using a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale today. I was prepared though! I whipped out my printout of RA's coupon policies from iheartriteaid.com (right side of screen) and showed them right where it said that was a-ok. The manager says - "oh, well, its a manufacturer's coupon that you have, that's ok. I meant it wasn't ok to use a BOGO RA coupon." Yeah right that's what you said!

BTW I have no idea what size Metamucil powder counts for the rebate. The SCR booklet and circular say 114 doses, but some bottles are 114 teaspoon doses and others are 114 tablespoon doses. I'll see what clears and try to figure it out.

First store

  • 4 Cover Girl powders $6.99 each, BOGO sale, used two BOGO coupons (2/7 P&G) and two $1 coupons (2/7 P&G or 2/14 RP) = $2 profit
  • 2 John Frieda Root Awakening Sham/Cond $5 each, used two $3 coupons (3/7 SS) and two $1 RA coupons = $2 - count towards SCR #41, $5 WYB $15, Limit 3 rebates
  • Metamucil Powder (114 dose) or Capsules (120 ct) $9.99, used $3 coupon (2/7 P&G) = $6.99
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon (or $5 off $25 coupon), total was $3.32

Second store

  • 2 Cover Girl TrueBlend makeups (note - the coupons beeped on these items) $12.99 each, used BOGO coupon (2/7 P&G) and $1 coupon (2/7 P&G or 2/14 RP) = $1 profit
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon (or $5 off $25 coupon), total was $4.25

Third store

  • 2 Cover Girl TrueBlend makeups (note - the coupons beeped on these items) $12.99 each, used BOGO coupon (2/7 P&G) and $1 coupon (2/7 P&G or 2/14 RP) = $1 profit
  • Crest toothpaste $2.74, used $1 coupon (2/21 P&G) and will get back $1 (SCR #39) = $0.74
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon (or $5 off $25 coupon), total was $8.18 because the cashier missed two of my $1 coupons. I realized this afterwards and could not force myself to go back in and deal with him again. Nice man, such a scatterbrain!

Now...I've qualified for the following rebates:

  • $10 for John Frieda (bought 6 bottles or $30 worth, get back $5 when you buy $15 worth)
  • $10 RiteAid gift card (SCR #18) - for buying Metamucil & Crest)
  • $1 for Crest toothpaste

My total OOP was $15.75 and I'm getting back $21 in rebates, so a $5.25 profit overall. Next I'm going to tackle some other rebates - the Almay makeup, the Prevacid rebate and the Biore rebates. And I have to do these in DBF's name too. What a busy RA week!

Oh What a Beautiful Morning...

Oh what a beautiful day!
I've got a beautiful feeling,
'Cause my asshole-jerkwad of a neighbor finally moved away!
I got home from my boyfriend's just a little while ago to find Sir Jerksy's side of the garage empty. Could my prayers have been answered? I went upstairs to find his welcome mat missing and the fancy-shmancy doorknob he'd put on his door replaced with the standard one we all have. I'm free again! I'm still doing a happy dance all around my apartment!

Nothing too exciting today - just picked up my papers at a convenience store. DBF and I took Shadow to a really nice dog park and enjoyed the beautiful 50 degree weather. Now I have to plan my scenarios for tomorrow's shopping....

Awesome Cashiers

Walgreens - convinced two separate cashiers to adjust down the coupons! Woot woot!
  • 4 Wheat Thin crackers $0.99 each, used four $1 coupons (1/24 SS) = FREE
  • 4 Ritz crackers $0.99 each, used four $1 coupons (1/24 SS) = FREE

Will use these towards the $20 Kraft Back to School rebate. I've bought all the crackers I need to do the rebate twice (DBF's address and my parent's address).

ShopRite - love this cheese and $3.99 is a great price

  • 2 Black Bear Locatelli cheese $3.99 each
  • Used $5 catalina, total was $2.93 *I had planned on buying four cheeses here and using three $5 cats, but they would not allow me to use more than one cat, so I just bought the two.

At another store:

  • 2 Black Bear Locatelli cheese $3.99 each
  • SR reusable bag $0.99, used freebie catalina (from previous purchase) = FREE
  • Used $5 catalina, total was $3.04

Bought another three bags, using three freebie coupons. The cashier said I couldn't use the coupons all at once, so she rang them up separately.

SCR #18 - spend $30 on select P&G items and get back $10 RA gift card. Here's a great scenario for you, courtesy of the lovely folks on HCW:

  • 2 Cover Girl items - $10.01+ each, BOGO sale, use BOGO coupon (2/7 P&G) and $1 coupon (2/7 P&G or 2/14 RP) = $1 profit, or FREE if store doesn't allow you to use $1 coupon
  • Pampers Cruisers Diapers (Jumbo Pack) $9.99, use $2 coupon (2/21 P&G)
  • Subtotal will be at least $20, use $5 off $20 coupon (or $5 off $25 coupon if you buy more expensive makeup and get up to $25), total should be somewhere around $1.99

Repeat this transaction twice more. On one of the transactions, also purchase one Crest Toothpaste (check the SCR booklet for all the varieties that count) for $2.74, use $1 coupon (2/21 P&G) and get back $1 (SCR #39). This will give you $32.71 ($9.99, $9.99, $9.99 and $2.74) towards SCR #18, so you'll qualify for the $10 gift card. Not including tax, that's a $3.29 profit! Not too shabby for diapers!

Here's another fabulous scenario that pubbler thunk'd up. This one is for SCR #18 - spend $30 on select P&G items and get back $10 RA gift card.

  • Metamucil Powder (114 dose) or Capsules (120 ct) $9.99, use $3 coupon (2/7 P&G)
