Another Big Profit Day at RA

Rite Aid - finally found the accessory boxes!  Not every store carries these.  I found them in the seasonal aisle with a bunch of other Gracious Living items (laundry baskets, plastic totes, etc.)

First trip -

  • Revlon Tweezers $2.49 and three emery boards $1.25 each, BOGO 50% off sale so two emery boards were $0.62 each, used $2 eye beauty tools RA coupon and four $1 coupons (6/24 or 7/29 SS) and got back two $4 UP's ($4 WYB 2 tools, Limit 2) = $9.02 profit
  • 2 Bob's Mints $5 each, got back three $3 UP's (one weekly deal, other two from monthly deal ending 7/31) = $1 or $0.50 each
  • Used two $4 UP's, total was $2.03

Repeated this same transaction on another card.  The mints are really tasty!  I left a bag at work to keep in a candy dish for students and I'll save the other bags for Halloween.

Third trip -

  • 2 Gracious Living Accessory Boxes $2.39 each ($2.99 reg price, 20% discount), will get back $5 (July SCR #86, $5 WYB 2, Limit 3, valid through today 7/31) = $0.22 profit
  • Snapple 6 pack $4.79 ($5.99 reg price, 20% discount), will send away for TMF peelie rebate = FREE
  • Visine for Contacts $4.23 ($5.29 reg price, 20% discount), used $2 circular coupon and $2 coupon (7/29 RP) = $0.23 *Counts towards spend $30, get $10 promo this week
  • Used two $4 UP's, total was $2.77
Fourth trip of the day -
  • 2 Crest Pro Health Rinses $5 each (one 946 mL or larger, one 473 mL), used BOGO coupon (7/1 P&G) and got back two $3 UP's ($3 each, Limit 2) = $1 profit
  • 2 Gracious Living Accessory Boxes $2.39 each ($2.99 reg price, 20% discount), will get back $5 (July SCR #86, $5 WYB 2, Limit 3, valid through today 7/31) = $0.22 profit
  • Visine for Contacts $4.23 ($5.29 reg price, 20% discount), used $2 circular coupon and $2 coupon (7/29 RP) = $0.23 *Counts towards spend $30, get $10 promo this week
  • 2 Bob's Mints $5 each, got back three $3 UP's (one weekly deal, other two from monthly deal ending 7/31) = $1 or $0.50 each
  • Used six $3 UP's, total was $4.02
If you can't find the accessory boxes right away, never fear.  There's another SCR for these in August (#44, $5 WYB 2, Limit 3).  I found the Oral Health coupon booklet in the store too.  There's a coupon inside for Crest Pro Health items that I'll use on another set of mouthwash.
Here's the UPC in case that helps.  Other folks (like Sheila) have found green ones too.
This is where I always seem to find Gigi nowadays, stretched out in front of the slider, gazing outside at the birds and bugs.  Thank goodness she has no interest in actually going outside, we'd never be able to use the door!

ShopRite Trip

ShopRite - got four coupons in my circular and I used all but one - $0.38 for a cantaloupe.  Figured I should play that one safe with the recall going on.

  • 2 Hebrew National Hot Dogs $1.77 each, used two $1 printable coupons (no longer available) = $0.77 each

  • 7 Crystal Lites $2.49 each, used $1 off 2 tearpad coupon and four $0.50 tearpad coupons (found these at Walgreens) and got back $3 catalina and catalina for FREE reusable bag = $9.43 or $1.34 each
  • Pepsi 2 Liter $0.38 with super coupon
  • SR Dozen Eggs $0.98 with super coupon
  • SR Tuna $0.28 with super coupon
  • Milk $2.29
  • Shaving soap $1.09
  • Used $10 catalina from chips purchase yesterday, total was $29.46

We were totally out of bread so da boyfriend and I drove to a nearby Entenmann's/Arnold outlet.  We got six loaves of bread and three Entenmann's desserts for $9 total!  I love this outlet.  They have a great selection every time I've gone.  Its hard to beat $1 for a loaf of Arnold bread.

If you don't have any rebates to trade but are interested in the ones I have, never to fear.  Cash is always king.  Send me 10% of the rebate's value (ie. $1 for a $10 rebate, $0.50 for a $5 one) plus $0.45 for a stamp via Paypal and the rebate is all yours.

If you're new to NBPR rebates or heard the term floating around but never knew what it meant (I did that for a couple years!), let me run this down for you.  NBPR stands for "no beer purchase required" meaning that if you live in one of the NBPR states, you don't need to purchase beer to qualify for the rebate.  The valid states vary a bit from rebate to rebate.  If you look on ebay for "NBPR" or "beer rebates" you'll find tons of various forms.  Here are a couple I have right now: Heineken $10 off $10.01 of fresh/prepared foods (with purchase of Heineken), Smirnoff $4 off $4.01 frozen dinners (with purchase of Smirnoff) Busch $5 off $5.01 of water, ice, coolers or salty snacks (with purchase of Busch).  But here's the fun part - since I live in NY, I don't need to purchase the beer to qualify for these rebates!  So they become $10 off $10.01 of fresh food, $4 off a $4.01 frozen dinner, $5 off $5.01 of water (and so on).

These rebates are a wonderful way to buy groceries for free or cheap.  And they're often very open-ended, so you can usually purchase whatever brands you like.  Now that I've moved to NY, I'm able to find a lot of these rebates in my grocery stores (never found them in Jersey), but you can buy them on ebay or trade for them here or other places.

Helpful Tips
  • Make sure to note the rebate ID number (ie. HKNNA040) so when you get your check, you'll know what its for (they write this # on the check).
  • Always make a copy of your documentation (receipt, completed rebate form, UPC's if required) before mailing.
  • Most rebates don't require the UPC's of the items, just the rebate form and the receipt(s).  Pabst rebates and the printable Pyramid Ale rebates are the exceptions to this rule.
  • Always read the fine print.  Some rebates require that your purchases be made all on one receipt, some just require the same day.

Sunday Shopping

Rite Aid
  • 4 Revlon Emery Boards $1.25 each, BOGO 50% sale so two were $0.62 each, got back two $4 UP's ($4 WYB 2 items, Limit 2) = $4.26 profit *Will also submit these for $4 (SCR #79, $4 WYB 2 items, Limit 2 offers, valid until 7/31)
  • 2 Crest Toothpastes $3 each, used $1 off 2 coupon (7/1 P&G) and got back two $3 UP's (Limit 2) = $1 profit
  • U by Kotex Liners (18 ct) $1.19 ($1.49 reg price, 20% discount), used $1 coupon (7/8 SS) and will get back $1 (SCR #30, valid until 7/31) = $0.81 profit
  • 2 Duck Rugged Mailers $1.19 each ($1.49 reg price, 20% discount) and will get back $3 (SCR #93, $3 WYB 2, Limit 2 offers, valid until 7/31) = $0.62 profit
  • 3 Office Expert Thumbtacks $0.29 each, will get back $1 (SCR #91, WYB 3, valid until 7/31) = $0.13 profit
Bought all this stuff again on a separate card.  The single Revlon nail files were $1.99 each, so $2.04 profit before coupons.

There are $1 Revlon beauty tools coupons in today's paper and the 6/24 SS.  There's also two $2 Video Value coupons as well (one for nails and one for eyes), but my printer is out of ink and I didn't want to wait to buy these until I get some.  The stores in my area sell out quickly on big moneymakers like this.

Walgreens
  • Vitali-T-Aid Caps (60 ct) $20, will get back $22 WAG rebate ($20 + 10% bonus for getting the rebate money back on a WAG gift card) = $2 profit
  • Cortaid Max Strength 1% Cream (0.5 oz) $2.99, used $1 coupon (or here or here or 6/10 RP *Expires 7/31) and will get back $3.28 WAG rebate ($2.99 + 10% bonus for getting the rebate money back on a WAG gift card) = $1.29 profit
  • Paid with $19.80 gift card from previous rebate and $2.19 cash
The offer code for these rebates is W0812.  The Vitali is #11 and the Cortaid is #10.
ShopRite
  • 8 Bags Ruffles Chips and 2 Bags Rold Gold Pretzels $2.50 each, used four $1 off 2 Ruffles coupons (7/22 Moments to Save coupon insert) and got back $10 catalina (WYB 10 qualifying items) and catalina for FREE reusable bag = $11 or $1.10 each
I don't have the rebate form in hand yet, but I'm going to save this receipt for a $5 Pabst NBPR rebate on $5.01 of salty snacks.  That will bring the cost down to $0.60 a bag!  Pabst rebates require UPC's (one of the very few beer rebates that do) so I'll have to be sure to save them.

Halloween in July

Just doing a quick post in between thunderstorms. Its been so hard to get anything done lately, we've had a storm almost every day this week. A $1 off 2 Mars bars coupon was printing every day this week at CVS from the coupon machine.  I stopped in every day to get my coupons and saved them to make one big trip per card so I could combine them with other deals and use a $4 off $20 coupon (from ebay).  Here's a condensed list of what I got:

  • A whole lotta Mars candy bars $0.50 each, used $0.50 off 2 tearpad coupons and $0.75 off 2 Milky Way coupons = FREE or profit
  • Revlon Nail Polish $4.99, used $1 coupon (6/24 SS) and got back $3 EB each (Limit 6) *Combined with $5 off $15 beauty CRT on one card for $2.03 profit
  • Infusium 23 $3.67 (clearance price), got back $4 EB (Limit 1) = $0.33 profit
  • 2 AMP Energy (16 oz) or Starbucks Refreshers (12 oz) $1.50 each, got back $3 EB (WYB 2, Limit 1) = FREE
  • Stayfree Pads (14-24 ct) $2, used $2 coupon (7/22 SS) = FREE
  • Conair Bobby Pins $2.19, used $2 hair accessories CRT = $0.19
  • CVS Men's Body Wash $3.99, used $3 CRT for CVS body wash
  • Cheez Its $3.59 each
  • 5 Vitamin Waters $1 each, got back $1 EB (WYB 5, monthly deal) - had to get a manual print on this
Rolled a bunch of soon to be expiring EB's and got a huge stash of Halloween candy for free!
Stop & Shop - there's a gas promo this week where you get $0.30 off a gallon when you buy four Revlon beauty tools.  They're on sale for $1 less than normal price.

  • Emery Boards $1.29 and $1.49 each
  • Nail Clippers $0.89 and $1.49 each
  • Tweezers $1.49 and $1.99 each
Your store's selection will obviously dictate which ones you buy, but keep to the cheapest ones you can find.  I used the $1 off beauty tools coupon from the 6/24 SS to make this an even better deal.

$0.30 a gallon for 35 gallons is $10.50 - so as long as your four items are less than this, you've made a profit!

Happy shopping dear friends

What a busy week this has been at Rite Aid, huh?  I realized today that the microfiber cloth deal is a monthly deal so I'll hit up a store next week that has tons of them at $0.79 each.  Pays to have extra cards sometimes.  :)
Much to my surprise, guess what's growing in the little flower garden?  Flowers!  When I planted them, it was super hot and I hurriedly scattered the seeds around and smushed them into the dirt a bit.  I didn't have high hopes.
Now I could just remember what it is that I planted here....
And if I'd bought enough seeds to fully spread around the garden.  Got a big old empty spot there, don't I?  I'm thinking next year I'm going to get some kind of shrub for this space instead of trying to do flowers.  Its just too large for me to handle with flowers.  I need something low maintenance.

Grillin' Hot Deals

So da boyfriend and I have been watching what we've been spending, trying to build up our savings.  I went to Target today on the hunt for some clearance finds and came across a fantastic deal on a barbecue.  I just couldn't pass it up, so I bought it, wrangled it into the car and drove it home.

I came home to find DBF making dinner (love that) and calmly asked him not to be mad that I'd bought something we didn't need.  I explained to him that it was on clearance and we got a huge markdown.  "How much?" he asked warily.  "One forty seven" I replied softly.  He groaned, "babe we can't afford that much money right now!"  Me - "I know, I know, but it was such a great deal, I just couldn't let it go."  He started asking some details - "is it propane or charcoal?"  Me - "charcoal".  Him - "we could have bought one at Lowes or somewhere for a lot cheaper than one forty seven, but ok, we'll figure something out."  See why I love this guy?  Me - "do you want to see it at least?"  Him - "yeah ok, let me just finish up making this chicken."

He told me about his day, the goofy stuff Gigi and Shadow were doing this afternoon and we gabbed while he finished breading the chicken.  Then I brought him downstairs to check out the BBQ...

GOTCHA!  Its a tabletop charcoal BBQ that I got on clearance for (wait for it)....$1.47!!!!  Got him good this time!  hahahahahahahaha  I love that he had all that time while finishing up the cooking to think about how foolish I was to spend all that money on a grill.  Hilarious!

I literally did a little happy dance in the store when I found this.  The blue and green ones are on clearance according to other folks who've found them too.  As always, clearance varies from store to store, but many are getting rid of their summer stuff.  Be on the lookout for Reynolds Grill foil - deep clearance on that if you can find it.
Target - here's what I also picked up:

  • McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract $1.64 (clearance)
  • Market Pantry Pure Vanilla Extract $1.48 (clearance)
  • 4 Nestle Chocolate Chips $1.14 each (clearance)

I found brown sugar clearanced at a different store a week or so ago.  Many stores have been marking down baking items and spices.

Had an awesome cashier who was very happy to see my free Edy's coupon.  She said they don't actually need the coupons, just the code to enter into the system.  She mentioned there was a coupon out there for free PC cookies and that I could go grab some if I wanted and she'd enter in the code.  Isn't that so sweet?  The cookies were $1 regular price, anyone seen that coupon out there?

My "Meh" CVS Trip

CVS - was determined to figure out some way to use the $4/$20 coupons that have been printing from the coupon machine.  Got an idea from Wild for CVS so off to the store I went:
  • Cremo Shave Cream $7.99, will submit for TMF rebate (have to include the orange TMF label from the package when you submit the form, must be postmarked by 12/31/14) = FREE
  • Unreal Bar (1.3-1.7 oz) $0.75, get back $0.75 EB (Limit 1) = FREE
  • 4 Pepsi 12 packs $3 each, got back $2 EB (WYB 4, Limit 1) = $10 or $2.50 each
  • Sunchips $1.09 - forgot to bring lunch today
  • Used $4/$20 coupon, $8 EB (adjusted down to $7.83) and $10 EB, total was $1.19
Folks commented on Wild for CVS that when they got their rebate check, the company also included samples and more rebate forms to hand out to friends!

Rite Aid
  • Marc Anthony Easy-Lites $5.99, got back $2 UP (Limit 2) and will submit for TMF peelie rebate, Valid "before 8/31/12" so I assume that means buy it on or before 8/30) = $2 profit
  • Bayer Contour USB Meter $23.99 ($29.99 reg price, 20% discount), used $5 coupon and $20 RA coupon (type in your email where it says INSERT EMAIL HERE) = $1.01 profit *Now at $31.99 towards another $10 Diabetes UP (WYB $50)
  • Used two $2 UP's, total was $1.40
I found the Marc Anthony peelie at CVS but put it in the picture so you'd all know what to look for.
Guess what I'm listening to?  The new Zac Brown Band CD, I just love them.  I tried to get a copy for $10 at Target last week (sold out).  So then I went to Best Buy (sold out).  Found a seller on amazon selling it for $9.99 including shipping, so it was cheaper than in the store anyway (no tax).  They're so down to earth and make amazing music.  I've just about worn out my copies of their other CD's.  :)  Luvin this song

On another note, what's up with this picture guys?  She reminds me of Wednesday from the Addams Family movies.
