Cheap Food

ShopRite - there's a great catalina deal going on this week on Kraft and Nabisco items.  You spend $25 on qualifying items and you get back four $5 catalinas good for more Kraft or Nabisco items.  The catalinas are staggered, one for each of the next four weeks so you can't use them right away or all at once.  But still a great deal!

I got:
  • 6 Ritz Crackers $3.97 each
  • Maxwell House Coffee $2.99
  • Total was $26.81 and I got back $20 in catalinas
I'm going to make another trip tonight to get some Wheat Thins and more coffee.  There are scenarios out there to make this deal a moneymaker, but I'd rather get more food.

CVS
  • 2 Excedrin (8 ct) $0.99 each, got back $1.98 EB (Limit 2) = FREE
  • 2 Keebler Granola Fudge Bars $2.50 each, got back $2 EB and will submit for TMF rebate (tearpad form found in supermarkets) = $0.50 or $0.25 each *Sale price and EB were from a raincheck I had
  • 2 Special K cereals $2.47 each
  • Used $10 EB and $1 EB, total was $0.96, got back $1 EB for using green bag tag
Pledge not to throw away your EB's (as if any of us would do that!) and you'll get a $2 EB to spend on whatever your little heart desires.

Its out, its out, its out!  Have you all seen this movie?  If not, please rent it right away.  HUH-larious!

Anyone been watching The Pioneer Woman's tv show on Food Network on Saturday mornings?  I love watching her in real time, rather than just in pictures.  How adorable are her kids?

Did You Get Your Free Candy?

Not much to report from the weekend and man, this looks even more bland without a picture to spruce it up.  I can't wait until I get back up and running on a good computer!

CVS - picked up the free after EB's pumpkins yesterday ($0.99, $0.99 EB, Limit 1).  I also ran into ShopRite to get some Thomas' English Muffins for $1.88 each (12 pack).

Da boyfriend and I poked around a newly opened Marshalls and hit the jackpot.  We found a great Calphalon pan with a cover for $40, some sneakers for me for $35 and a cute butter dish for $5.

Did you all do anything fun this weekend?  Its starting to get fall-like outside and I looooove it!

A Little Bit of This and That

CVS - found a store that had the Newton Fruit Thins so I picked up a box of the blueberry variety, used my FREE CRT coupon from the other day.  They're pretty good!  Also picked up four bottles of Dawn Plus Detergent for $0.24 ($0.99 sale price minus $0.75 coupon from 8/28 P&G).  I was able to find a store with another Air Wick in stock, so I got my $10 EB for buying $20 worth of household items.  Well, technically $19.96 but the EB still printed.

Walgreens
  • 2 Scott Naturals Paper Towels $5, used $1 coupon (9/11 SS) and $1 WAG coupon (monthly coupon booklet) = $3 each
  • 3 Lindt Truffles $0.39 each

Also went to ShopRite where I picked up some cheap Romaine lettuce - 3 pack for $1.49, grapes for $0.99 a pound and FREE Kikkoman Teriyaki sauce.  It was $0.99 a bottle and I used this $0.55 coupon (I also found peelies in the store).

Quick CVS Stop

I was feeling so yucky yesterday.  I'd had a migraine lingering from Sunday and my stomach was bothering me.  I did a little shopping on my way home and then plopped on the couch to watch a mini-marathon of Real Housewives of NJ on the Tivo.  I am hooked!  I've always been a fan of the Orange County ladies but could never get into the other seasons - until now.

CVS
  • CVS Allergy Relief Loratidine, Cetirizine or Fexofenadine (5 ct) $3.69, got back $3.69 EB (Limit 1) = FREE
  • Softsoap Body Wash $2.99, used $0.75 coupon and got back $2 EB (Limit 1) = $0.24
  • 3 Air Wick iMotion Kits $4.99 each, used three $4 coupons (9/11 or 8/14 SS) = $2.97 *Once I find one more, I'll get back a $10 EB for spending $20 on qualifying household items = $6 profit!
  • Loaf of italian bread $3.89
  • Used $5 EB and $5 EB, total was $3.80, got back $1 EB for using my green bag tag
A year ago, I would have said to you - "pay for bodywash?  Poo! Never!"  But my stockpile is getting a little skimpy and $0.24 sounds pretty good to me now.  Its funny how things change.

I also got a CRT for free Nabisco Crackerfulls (blech) or Newtons Thins.  The store didn't have any of the Newtons but they said I can use the coupon a week or so after its expired.  Hopefully they get them in stock by then.

Remembering

I don't know about all of you, but I avoided watching the 9/11 coverage yesterday.  Thinking back to that day and all the lives that were lost always brings me to tears.  I was heading to an early morning class in college when I heard about the attack from one of the security guards on campus.  I remember watching the second tower fall on tv, watching that plane fly right into it.  Even typing these words, I can feel my stomach drop.  Watching that enormous dust cloud come crashing towards the cameras and cringing, even though it was only on tv.  Hearing a fellow student playing his bag pipes on campus.  Not knowing what was going to happen next and whether or not I was safe at school, or anywhere.

On Saturday morning, driving on the highway I saw what had to be thousands of people on motorcycles.  I drove for at least 10 miles and didn't see the end or the beginning of the line.  The riders were lined up, two per lane for miles.  Some rode with American flags streaming behind them, some rode with their firefighter's helmets on, some rode with their police uniforms.  I passed people waving from bridges, people waving and taking pictures from the side of the road and an enormous flag strung between two construction ladders.  It was amazing to see so many people united and riding together.

My hunny and I went about our normal business on Sunday but it was hard not to reflect back.

Rite Aid
  • 2 Caldesene Baby Care Items $4.99 each, used two $1 Caldesene coupons and got back two $4 UP's (Limit 2) = FREE/$0.01 profit
There was no tax on these for me, so this was a great deal.  I got a bunch on different cards and I'm keeping some for me for someday and am doing some shopping for a gal at work who is expecting.

Cheap Mayo

Used up some of my Mitchum $2 RR's last night at Walgreens on:
  • 2 Hellmann's Mayo $2.99 each with in-circular coupon, also used $1 monthly coupon = $1.99 each
  • Crisco Oil $2.49 with in-circular coupon
  • WAG Swiss Cheese $3.29
  • Ruffles Chips $0.99 (small bag)
  • Used five $2 RR's, total was $0.87
I used to be very particular about what I spent my RR's on, careful to roll them into other RR deals.  Now I'm perfectly content to spend them on food.  Maybe I'm just getting lazy or it could be the uninspirational deals lately.  How about you?  What are you picking up this week?

Long Weekend

Don't feel like doing a really detailed post, so here's the short and sweet version of my weekend shopping:

CVS - picked up two cans of Skintimate, a bunch of moneymaker Carefree, free Milky Way bars (with the CRT I got from the coupon machine) and a two free CVS brand pantiliners.  I had a CRT for a free Always 20 count pantiliner but the store didn't have any (not even a spot for them) so the cashier let me substitute two CVS packs (two for $0.99).  Fine by me!

Walgreens - I am growing addicted to Mitchum deodorant so I made the rounds yesterday and picked up a bunch of free after RR ones.  After tax, I paid $2.20 each, so only $0.20 after RR.  Not bad!  I also picked up some V8 Fusion juice using $6 RR's from a previous purchase.  I was totally out of juice and the two for $5 price sounded good to me.

My sister was able to retrieve my documents from my hard drive!  We cracked open the computer, she pulled out the hard drive, connected it to her laptop and moved my files to a USB drive.  I'm so happy those documents aren't lost forever.

Hope you all had a wonderful long weekend!
