Great Deal on Flour

I love when I can get flour on sale, especially bread flour. I use my bread machine a lot, so I go through flour pretty fast. These packages are good until October 2012, so I'll store them in a huge ziploc bag to keep them fresh.

ShopRite
  • 4 Gold Medal Bread Flours $3.89 each
  • Gold Medal All Purpose Flour $2.79
  • 3 Betty Crocker Potatoes $2.19 each
  • 5 Betty Crocker blueberry muffin mixes $1 each (must buy 5)
  • 4 Cascade Action Pack Dishwasher Detergents $4.99 each, used four $1 coupons (7/3 P&G) = $3.99 each
  • 4 Nature Valley Granola Thins $3.99 each, used four $0.75 coupons (6/26 SS) = $2.49 each *These look really good!
  • 6 Twizzlers $1.77 each, used two $1 off 3 coupons (6/26 SS) = $1.43 each
  • $50 ShopRite Gift Card
  • Total was $115.86
I don't count gift cards as "costing" money because I'm just moving $50 in cash (or $50 on a credit card that earns reward points and I'll pay off right away) to $50 on a gift card. Its still $50. So that means I spent $65.86. I qualified for a $25 gas card because I purchased $75 of qualifying items (everything I bought except for the SR gift card counted). This brings the cost down to $40.86.

I'll also send away for a $25 Amstel NBPR rebate WYB $100 of groceries (purchases have to be made on the same day). I'm taking a bit of a gamble on this rebate because I only purchased $77 worth of food (before coupons). I picked up the gift card to bring my post-coupon total to $100+. I've never done this before but I've read about people doing this when the post-coupon total is lower than the rebate amount needed. This is a bit different but I'm betting the rebate processors won't be going through and adding up the price of each item. I bet they'll just look at the overall amount spent. I'm debating whether or not I should black out the line on the receipt that lists the gift card or if I should just send the receipt in as-is. I've never blacked out items on receipts before but I hear of folks doing it all the time. Any suggestions?

Assuming all goes well and I get back the $25, my total for this transaction will be $15.86. Considering the flour alone was $3.89 a bag, that's not bad at all!

A Bounty of Bounty

Now that I've finished my Pier 1 shopping, I got my drugstore shopping done for the week.
CVS - was a little worried about buying the Aussie/HE because I'd read online using the $3 and $1 coupons in combination was beep-central. Luckily my transaction went through with nary a beep. The P&G coupons specify you can only use four per transaction so I split these purchases up. For simplicity's sake, I'm combining them here:
  • 6 Aussie Sham/Cond $2.48/9 each (two for $4.97), used six $1 coupons (6/12 RP) and 6 Herbal Essence Stylers $2.48/9 each (two for $4.97), used six $3 coupons (7/3 P&G) and got back $10 gas gift card (WYB $30, prints slightly less than that, Limit 1) = $4.18 profit
  • Papermate Grip Pens (8 ct) $1.99, got back $1.99 EB (Limit 1) = FREE
  • Used $1 EB, $2 EB and $3 EB, total was $3.97
Walgreens
  • WAG Perfection Tampons (8 ct) $1.50, got back $1.50 RR = FREE
  • Pure Silk Shaving Cream $0.99 with in-circular coupon, used $0.80 coupon (7/10 RP) = $0.19 *Got a raincheck for a bunch more. The coupon is good until 9/30 so plenty of time to redeem.
  • 6 Scotch Bubble Mailers $0.39 each with in-circular coupon
  • Used $3 RR, total was $1.27
ShopRite - always like it when I can find a great deal on napkins. Why are paper products so difficult to find for free/freap? Just like the Aussie/HE coupons, the Bounty and Olay coupons are limit four per transaction so I bought these over two trips.
  • 7 Bounty Napkins $2.99 each, used seven $1 coupons (6/5 P&G)
  • 8 Olay Regenerist Cleansers/Wipes $6.99 each, used eight $3 coupons (6/5 or 7/3 P&G)
  • Total with tax on both transactions was $49.57
I got back a $25 gas card for spending $75 on qualifying items and I'll also send away for this $20 Olay rebate (WYB $50 of facial stuff). That means I've spent just $4.57 on all these goodies. Even on just the napkins, that's an awesome price.

Up and Running

Camera battery fully charged, I'm ready to show off my Pier 1 shops! Did you all put this coupon to good use as well? I love poking around in Pier 1, but my wallet doesn't always like the prices so much. The $10 coupon was perfect! I made a bunch of trips the past three days and picked up -
  • 4 Placemats $4.76 each - 20% off sale
  • Hummingbird Feader $7.48 - clearance price
  • 6 Gorgeous Wine Glasses $7 each
  • Bombay Hanging Tea Light Candle Holder $16
  • Cute as a button clock $15
I made seven separate trips and used seven $10 coupons - $70 discount in all! Including tax, I spent $28.81 for everything. Let's take a closer look...
I loved the branch-like base of this clock and fell in love with the cute little bird. I saw these glasses in one store early in the day and couldn't stop thinking about them. I love the amber color and the crackled finish on the bottom.
I can't wait to throw some tealights in this beautiful candle holder. I think this would work inside or out. The holders are high enough to block a breeze from the flame.
Love that shade of blue!
How could I resist the beauty of this blown glass? I hope hummingbirds will feel the same way.

What did you get at Pier 1?

Other Plans

Well I was excited to show off my Pier 1 goodies from today but somebody forgot to recharge the camera battery. My hunny must've snuck over while I was snoozing and snapped up all the battery juice 'cuz this lady never forgets a thing. Musta been what happened. So instead, I give you...The Adventures of Gigi and the Unfortunate Cricket.
(queue orchestra)
"Yeah that's right, try and fly away."
"I can see you....""What did you say to me chirpy?!?"
"I've been practicing my yoga moves and now I can reach you even when you're "this" far away!"
"HAHA take that! That move's called the Gigi-give-it-to-ya!""Back for MORE?"
"That all you got?!?"
"Umm Gigi, I'd like to express some concerns I have about the safety of that little guy. See I'm all for bug rights and I feel that the cricket might be a little overwhelmed here."
"Shut it big ears. You're gonna make me blink and I ain't about to lose a staring contest now."

Uber Douche

So I was in a hit and run tonight. Sounds like the start of a bad joke, doesn't it? I'm perfectly fine, just a little shook up. I was in the right lane of a two lane merge and this huge pickup that was behind me apparently didn't want me to go and tapped the back left hand side of my car. Nevermind that we were all politely alternating cars in the merge and it was my turn to go. Nevermind that he was behind me and could clearly see me, and he was in my blind spot where I couldn't clearly see him. Nevermind that trucks do come equipped with brakes that would aid a driver in situations such as these. All of that would have been annoying, but fine, except that he DIDN'T STOP! He scooted past me once we got onto the highway and sped off. So I did what any self-respecting Jersey girl would have done. I followed his ass! I flashed him many times, called 911 and gave them his plate number. A cop came to my rescue soon after and wrote up a report. Hopefully they find him! My car's scratched up a bit, nothing too serious. What a lovely Monday.

Pier 1 Imports - print out this fantastic coupon for $10 off a $10 purchase, good until 7/27. Pier 1 has great stuff, but I try to avoid the store since everything is pricey. Now I'm going to see how many goodies I can get for super cheap!

  • Spoon Rest $5.68 - clearance price
  • Used $10/$10 coupon, total was $1.80

Scores at Target

The Target coupons are available on target.com. Scroll to the bottom and click on Coupons. You can print two per computer. The receipt lists the pillows as "STD Pillow." Awwwwkward!

Also picked up super cheap Scotch Brite sponges at ShopRite. They're on sale (through next week too) for $1.84 each and I got an email from Scotch Brite the other day that included a $0.75 coupon. After doubling, that makes the sponges $0.34 a pack! I'm happy to pass along the coupon if anyone wants it. Just email me at frugalsuz at hotmail dot com.

Please note if you will, the vanilla scented handle

Just the other day, I was shaving my legs and I thought to myself, "Self, wouldn't this shaving experience be greatly improved with the addition of a scented handle?" VOILA! Walgreens delivers!

I can't remember the last time I got a good women's razor for free, so when I saw that these razors were free after RR, I did some planning to get some with the least amount of fuss. Rolling Walgreens' RR's can be such a hassle and I'm just not up for all that legwork (ha! legwork!) anymore. RiteAid has spoiled me! Here's what I came up with:
  • Women's 6 Blade Razor System $3.99, got back $4 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Just paid cash for this one to get started - $4.27 with tax
Then I bought:
  • Hyland's Teething Gel $5, used $1 coupon and got back $5 RR = $1 profit
  • Index Cards $0.39 - the circular coupon didn't scan on these. The manager did a price adjustment for me
  • Used $4 RR from razor, total was $0.42
Then I rolled that back into another razor:
  • Women's 6 Blade Razor System $3.99, get back $4 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • 3 Geisha mushrooms $0.50 each with in-circular coupon
  • Used $5 RR, total was $0.77
Then finally -
  • Hyland's Teething Gel $5, used $1 coupon and got back $5 RR = $1 profit
  • Geisha mushrooms $0.50 with in-circular coupon
  • Used $4 RR, total was $0.50
So in total, I spent $0.96 for two razors, four cans of mushrooms, some index cards and some teething gel that I'll donate. Not bad!

Babbling?

Rite Aid
  • Crest Pro Health Rinse or 3D White Rinse $4.99, used $2 coupon (6/5 P&G) and will get $4.50 (SCR #5) = $1.51 profit
  • 2 Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power or Manual Razors $8.79 each ($10.99 reg price, 20% Wellness discount), used two $4 coupons (6/5 P&G) and got back two $5 UP's (Limit 2) = $0.42 profit
  • Used $3/$15 survey coupon and $10 UP
I also bought a Luster White at this store but later realized that on the account that I was going to use, I'd already purchased a Crest Rinse so the Crest rebate would be rejected. I'm going to return the Luster. At store #2, I bought a Luster without any other rebate items, so I'm good to go. Did that make any sense? Its been a rough day and I'm not sure I'm speaking English anymore!

At another store, I got:
  • 4 Jergens Natural Glow Lotions (2 oz - found in travel section) $1.99 each ($2.49 reg price, 20% Wellness discount), got back two $5 UP's (WYB 2, Limit 2 offers) = $2.04 profit*There's a $1 coupon here but I totally forgot to use it!
  • Luster Whitening Toothpaste (2.6 oz) $5.59 ($6.99 reg price, 20% Wellness discount), used $1.50 coupon and will get back $4 (SCR #84) = $0.09
