June is Done

Went back to the RA from yesterday that rang up my John Frieda's as "Merchandise Taxable" and got that straightened out. I also was able to find three more JF Full Repair foams, which will max out that rebate on my accounts. The June SCR's are only good through today, so if you have any shopping to do, get to it!

Rite Aid
  • Sun/Mon/Tues ONLY: Got2B Fat-tastic Dry Shampoo, Mousse or Root Boost $4.99, used $2 coupon (Sept 2010 or June 2011 All You magazine) and will get back $4.99 (SCR #37) = $2 profit
  • 2 John Frieda Full Repair Root Lift Foams $4.99 each (raincheck price), used two $5 coupons (6/5 SS) and will get back $10 ($5 each, SCR #36, Limit 2) = $10.02 profit
  • Used $2 UP and $2 UP, total was $2.02
Then separately, I bought:
  • John Frieda Full Repair Root Lift Foam $4.99 (raincheck price), used $5 coupons (6/5 SS) and will get back $5 (SCR #36, Limit 2) = $5.01 profit
  • Finesse Clean and Simple Conditioner Normal or Dry (10 oz) $3.19 ($3.99 reg price, 20% Wellness discount), used $1 coupon (5/8 SS or May All You magazine), will get back $3 (SCR #41) and will send away for $2 rebate (5/8 SS) = $2.81 profit
  • Excedrin Extra Strength (20 - 24 ct) $1.99, used $1 RA coupon (June Video Values) and $0.75 coupon (6/5 SS) = $0.24 *Did not get back any UP's for this even though the limit on the deal is 2. Not sure why, but I was so happy to find the JF, I didn't much care.
  • Used $2 UP, total was $0.99

Monday, Monday

On Sunday, I did something I haven't done in ages - I bought newspapers! The price of whole coupon inserts is just getting too high. I picked up six papers at $1.50 each - much cheaper than I could find them online. I'm not sure what I'll do next weekend though. The major newspaper in my area doesn't carry the Red Plum insert, so I may have to get the inserts online. I bought these when I was up by da boyfriend. He's in a different county whose paper still carries the RP.
Rite Aid - so happy to finally find the John Frieda in stock, until I got home and looked at my receipt. My cashier rang them up as "Merchandise taxable" so they won't be recognized by the SCR system as qualifying items. I knew something was off when she put them in as $4.99 and I got my Wellness discount. I wish I'd checked the receipt before leaving! I'll have to get back there by 6/28, that's the last day for the June SCR's. Tack on another item to the to-do list.
  • Sun/Mon/Tues ONLY: Got2B Fat-tastic Dry Shampoo, Mousse or Root Boost $4.99, used $2 coupon (Sept 2010 or June 2011 All You magazine) and will get back $4.99 (SCR #37) = $2 profit
  • Prell Conditioner $3.19 ($3.99 reg price, 20% Wellness discount), used $2 coupon and will get back $2 (SCR #38) = $0.81 profit
  • Excedrin Extra Strength (20 - 24 ct) $1.99, used $1 RA coupon (June Video Values), $0.75 coupon (6/5 SS) and got back $1 UP (Limit 2) = $0.76 profit
  • Ensure - just realized I have to take this back too! Grr, definitely not a good day. I bought this to send away for a TMF rebate, but the minimum price has to be $6.97+. This store sold them for $7.99, so with my Wellness discount, they rang up for $6.39.
  • Used $1 off purchase coupon (June/July Video Values), $1.99 UP, $2 UP and $2 UP, total was $1.29
Second store - this is where I found the JF
  • Sun/Mon/Tues ONLY: Got2B Fat-tastic Dry Shampoo, Mousse or Root Boost $4.99, will get back $4.99 (SCR #37) = FREE
  • Excedrin Extra Strength (20 - 24 ct) $1.99, used $1 RA coupon (June Video Values), $0.75 coupon (6/5 SS) and got back $1 UP (Limit 2) = $0.76 profit
  • 2 John Frieda Full Repair Root Lift Foams $4.99 each (rang up $3.99 each b/c the cashier goofed), used two $5 coupons (Told her to adjust these down but she didn't! 6/5 SS) and once I get the receipt fixed, I will get back $10 ($5 each, SCR #36, Limit 2) = $12.02 profit
  • Used $1 off purchase coupon (June/July Video Values), used $2 UP, total was $0.99
Sounds like someone's got a case of the Mundays. Sigh

I Said No Salt, No Salt!

I have been on the prowl for this flavor of Crystal Lite for weeks! Today I lucked out and found an endcap display of them. There are three flavors - margarita, appletini and mohito.

Bartender, gimme a rita on the rocks!
Its actually not bad! Although I gotta say, it could use a little kick. Maybe some Jose Cuervo? :)

I also finished out another gas deal on a second Price Plus card I have. I started it during the afternoon at one store, bought some more stuff at another store tonight, then finished it out at a third store. Or so I thought. As I'm looking at the receipt and wondering why the tracking amount is off, I realized I accidentally scanned a third Price Plus card I'd optimistically thrown in my coupon envelope. Epic sigh. Now I was halfway done with the gas deal...on two separate cards. What to do? Tomorrow is gonna be a crazy day and I'm not gonna have time to shop. So...I hit up another store and finished out both cards. I'm beat!

Here's the list of the goodies I got:
  • 19 Crystal Lites
  • Gold Medal Bread Machine Flour
  • 8 Betty Crocker Suddenly Salad Mixes
  • 8 boxes of Wheat Thins and Triscuits
  • 9 bags of Tyson chicken
  • 6 boxes of Betty Crocker potatoes
  • 3 packages of Oscar Mayer hot dogs
  • 3 Temptee cream cheeses
  • 4 Breakstone sour creams
  • 6 Pillsbury Grands biscuits
  • 1 Kraft BBQ sauce
  • 3 bonus size containers of I Can't Believe Its Not Butter
  • 2 Hellmann's Mayo
I haven't had time to run all the figures yet, but since I did the deal three times, I spent about $225. I got back three $25 gas gift cards and I'll submit for three $15 Heineken NBPR rebates (WYB $25.01 of premium meats) and with these purchases, I should have enough for two $25 Amstel NBPR rebates (WYB $100 of groceries). That's about $50 or so out of pocket for all these groceries. My pantry was pretty bare, so this is fine with me.

Got my Gas Card!

ShopRite - got my $25 gas card! It really wasn't that hard to do. I had a list of items I wanted to get, I wandered around, threw them in my cart and left. I was expecting some issues with items not counting properly, not getting to the total I wanted, etc. But for a change, it was smooth sailing.
  • 8 Crystal Lites $1.99 each, used four $1 off 2 tearpad coupons
  • 10 Yoplait Yogurts $7.10, used $0.40 off 6 coupon (6/12 SS) *These are 10 for $6 but apparently, not all varieties were on sale. The pink bottles rang up $0.75 each
  • Country Time Lemonade $1.99
  • 2 Pillsbury Grands Biscuits $2.49 each
  • 2 Hellmann's Mayo $4.79 each, used two $0.40 coupons (recent RP? can't figure out which insert this was from) and got back $2 catalina (total bonus, wasn't expecting this)
  • 4 Breakstone Sour Creams $1.79 each
  • 2 Temptee Cream Cheeses $3.79 each
  • 2 Oscar Mayer Turkey Dogs $3.19 each, used $1 off 2 coupon (6/19 SS)
  • 2 Klondike Bars $1.77 each
  • Used $5/$50 coupon, total was $59.84
Everything I bought counted towards the gas promo. Coupons don't affect the total towards the deal, but any amount that is doubled from a coupon deducts your total. I'm pretty sure the store coupon ($5/$50) also lessens your total. So for the Hellmann's, the item was $4.79. I used a $0.40 coupon, which doubled to $0.80 off. So I paid $3.99 and $4.39 counted towards the promo. Does that make sense? I think I confused myself trying to explain it!

I'll also use these purchases towards a $25 Amstel NBPR rebate on $100 of groceries.
Rite Aid
  • Samy Fat Foam Hair Color $7.99 ($9.99 reg price, 20% Wellness discount), used $3 coupon and $5 RA coupon (June Video Values) and got back $5 UP (Limit 2) = $4.01 profit
  • Prell Conditioner $3.19 ($3.99 reg price, 20% Wellness discount), used $2 coupon and will get back $2 (SCR #38) = $0.81 profit
  • 4 Lays Chips $2.50 each, got back two $1 UP's ($1 WYB 2, Limit 2 offers) = $8 *Will use these towards a $7 Newcastle NBPR rebate on $10 of snacks
  • Peppermint Patty $0.79 ($0.99 reg price, 20% Wellness discount)
  • Used $2 UP, $5 UP and $5 UP, total was $0.81
Now all my UP's that are expiring this week have been used up. Phew!

  • Colgate Total Advanced Toothpaste (4 oz) $2.79, used $1 coupon (6/5 or 6/12 SS) and got back $2 EB (Limit 2) = $0.21 profit *The store was out of the Gum Defense variety. I was looking for this so I could use the $1 coupon from the Reinventing Beauty magazine

  • Prell Conditioner $3.19 ($3.99 reg price, 20% Wellness discount), used $2 coupon and will get back $2 (SCR #38) = $0.81 profit
  • Libby Pineapple Chunks $0.80 ($1 reg price, 20% Wellness discount) and Libby Tropical Fruit Salad $1 ($1.50 reg price so sale price was better than 20%), used $0.30 RA coupon (June Video Values) = $1.50
  • Reese's Pieces $0.79 ($0.99 reg price, 20% Wellness discount)
  • Used $5 UP, total was $1.72
Wasn't expecting the Libby to ring up with a Wellness discount, so it threw off my totals. I grabbed the Reese's so I could use my $5 UP.
Its NBPR season baby! For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, NBPR stands for No Beer Purchase Required. Many beer companies put out rebates for $5 off produce, $10 off chicken, $7 off snacks, etc. when you also buy their beer. The kicker is that certain states say the beer purchase cannot legally be required, so in these lucky states, you can submit for the rebate without buying beer! Its fantastic. These rebates come out in spades during the summer and I have a small pile of them ready to go. I love when I can combine purchases for these rebates along with a store sale, like I did today!

I always save receipts, but its especially important to do so during the summer. Often rebates pop up midway through their valid period and I can look back on previous purchases and find something that qualifies.

ShopRite
  • Tyson Chicken Breast $6.99
  • Tyson Chicken Strips and Grilled & Ready Chicken $8.99 each, used $1 grilled & ready coupon (5/8 SS)
  • Mr & Mrs T Margarita Mix $1.99
  • Total was $26.10
I'll submit for a $15 Heineken rebate WYB $25.01 of premium meat, produce or condiments (HKNNA012). The purchases must all be made on the same day. Normally, I wouldn't consider chicken a "premium" meat, but someone on Slick Deals was kind enough to email the company to find out what premium meant, and they wrote back saying chicken was a-ok.

The Tyson chicken counts towards a promo at ShopRite this week. When you spend $75 in qualifying items, you get a $25 gas gift card. Tons of items are included in the sale. I also have another NBPR rebate from Amstel for $25 WYB $100 of groceries. I'll use the other purchases I make this week towards that rebate.

Frazzled

Its been a long week. Work has been crazy, I've been super busy and just haven't felt like shopping. Alas, I cannot stand to let reward money go to waste, so I dragged my sorry self out to the stores.

Rite Aid
  • Bayer Advanced Aspirin $3.19 ($3.99 reg price, 20% Wellness discount), used $2 coupon (6/12 SS), got back $1.99 UP (Limit 1) = $0.80 profit *There's also a rebate in the 6/12 SS. Its for the purchase price minus the $2 coupon, so I'd only get back $1.19.
  • 4 RA Men's 3 or 5 Blade Razors $5.99 each ($4.79 each with 20% Wellness discount), used four $2 peelie coupons and got back four $2 UP's (Limit 4) = $3.16 or $0.79 each

Then at another store and on a different card -
