Go Big or Stay Home Kinda Day

Man, I'm beat! I wanted to hit the stores nice and early today so I'd be home with plenty of time to blog, take a shower and relax a bit before heading over to my parents for a BBQ. I left around 8 this morning and got back around 12:30. Not bad considering I hit up ShopRite, 2 Targets, 4 RA's, CVS and a bunch of Walgreens and got stuck in traffic watching a parade go by. Let's get started, shall we?

Ugh, just read on iheartwags that the Cortaid is limit one per household, except in RI where the limit is two. I'll have to return three of the bottles I bought.

Rite Aid - be sure to pick up the glasses with the polarvision tags on them. I got one that just said "Polarized" and it rang up $19.99. Not really sure what the difference is, but its not worth the hassle of holding up the line to get another pair or having the cashiers adjust the price (what they did for me).

SCR's for my account:
  • Style Science Polarvision Sunglasses $12.99, used $10 coupon and will count towards SCR #84, $10 WYB 2 = $2.99
  • 6 Ziploc Slider Bags $2.99 each, BOGO sale and used three BOGO coupons (4/11 SS) = FREE
  • Nova Max Blood Glucose Monitor $9.99, will get back $9.99 (SCR #50) = FREE
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon, total was $9.17 - paid with gift cards from previous rebates, overall profit for transaction = $5.82

Then to finish out my rebates, I bought:

  • Style Science Polarvision Sunglasses $12.99, used $10 coupon and now will get back $10 (SCR #84, $10 WYB 2) = $4.02 profit
  • 4 Ziploc Slider Bags $2.99 each, BOGO sale and used three BOGO coupons (4/11 SS) = $1.60 or $0.80 each - cashier entered these in as $2.19 each
  • Huggies Snug & Fit Diapers Jumbo Pack $8.99, used $3 coupon (or here) and $1 RA coupon and will get back $2 (SCR) = $2.99
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon, total was $5.56 - paid with gift cards, overall profit for transaction = $1.44

Then for DBF's rebates, I basically did the same thing again:

  • Style Science Polarvision Sunglasses $12.99, used $10 coupon and will count towards SCR #84, $10 WYB 2 = $2.99
  • Nova Max Blood Glucose Monitor $9.99, will get back $9.99 (SCR #50) = FREE
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon, total was $8.54, paid with gift card, overall profit for transaction = $6.45
Finally...
  • Style Science Polarvision Sunglasses $12.99, used $10 coupon and now will get back $10 (SCR #84, $10 WYB 2) = $4.02 profit
  • Huggies Little Movers Diapers Jumbo Pack $8.99, used $3 coupon (or here) and $1 RA coupon and will get back $2 (SCR) = $2.99
  • 2 Ziploc Slider Bags $2.99 each, BOGO sale and used BOGO coupon (4/11 SS) = FREE
  • Used $5 off $20 coupon, total was $3.75, paid with gift card, overall profit for transaction = $3.25

Walgreens

  • Ecotrin Low Strength Tablets (45 ct) $2, used $2 coupon (5/16 RP) and got back $2 RR = $2 profit
  • Cortaid Max Strength Anti-Itch Cream (0.5 oz) $3, used $1 coupon (3/14 RP *Exp 5/31 or 4/25 SS) and get $3 rebate form at register (Limit 1) = $1 profit
  • U by Kotex $3.49, used $1 coupon (I bought a bunch of Kotex coupons on ebay that don't expire until 2011) and got back $2.50 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Royal Gelatin $0.69
  • Used $5 RR, total was $0.18 - didn't use the in-circular coupon for the jello b/c that would make me negative. Must have done my math wrong

Repeated this transaction without the jello, paid total of $4.49 with gift card

Another WAG:

  • Ecotrin Low Strength Tablets (45 ct) $2, used $2 coupon (5/16 RP) and got back $2 RR = $2 profit
  • Cortaid Max Strength Anti-Itch Cream (0.5 oz) $3, used $1 coupon (3/14 RP *Exp 5/31 or 4/25 SS) and get $3 rebate form at register (Limit 1) = $1 profit
  • $20 Walgreens gift card
  • 3 Royal Gelatins $2 for all three
  • Used three $8 RR's, total was zero

This transaction was a bit wonky. I also had a Kotex that I was buying, but apparently, the cashier didn't ring it up. He rang all my coupons (including the Kotex!) and then handed me back my Cortaid coupon saying it was expired. I was about to argue but then saw that my total was zero. Since there was a huge line forming behind me, I figured I must have done my math wrong and left. I realized later what happened. Isn't it weird that the Kotex coupon scanned? The only thing I can think of is that he scanned the Cortaid coupon and then handed that back to me. He was going at super-sonic-speed so it was hard to keep up.

Another WAG - repeated this transaction three times

  • U by Kotex $3.49, used $1 coupon (I bought a bunch of Kotex coupons on ebay that don't expire until 2011) and got back $2.50 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Royal Gelatin $0.20 with in-circular coupon (love this super cheap filler!)
  • Used $2 RR, total was $0.69

Final trip:

  • U by Kotex $3.49, used $1 coupon (I bought a bunch of Kotex coupons on ebay that don't expire until 2011) and got back $2.50 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Ecotrin Low Strength Tablets (45 ct) $2, used $2 coupon (5/16 RP) and got back $2 RR = $2 profit
  • Total was $2.49, paid with gift card

Target - both these deals are from my new fav website - Totally Target

  • 2 Olay Toners $2.99 each, used two $2 coupons (5/2 P&G - these expire today!) and got back $5 Target gift card = $3.02 profit
  • 2 Olay Facial Cloths $4.49 each, used two $2 coupons (5/2 P&G) and got back $5 Target gift card = $0.02 profit
  • Armor All Tire Shine $4.99 and Tire Protectant (7 oz) $6, used $3 off 2 Target coupon and two $2 coupons and will submit for TMF rebate on the tire protectant = $2.01 profit
  • Total was $10.27, paid with gift cards

The second store I checked had TONS of toner. I didn't even come close to cleaning them out by buying eight:

  • 8 Olay Toners $2.99 each, used eight $2 coupons (5/2 P&G - these expire today!) and got back $5 Target gift card for every two = $12.08 profit
  • 3 Bounty Basic Paper Towels $0.99 each, used three $1 coupons (from P&G coupon booklet home mailer) = $0.03 profit
  • Total was $8.16, paid with gift cards

Will save this receipt to submit for $12 rebate (WYB $30) using the Olays that I bought. Hopefully there will be another deal on the qualifying items soon enough.

ShopRite
  • Two $50 JCPenney gift cards, got back $10 catalina (WYB certain gift cards) = $10 profit
  • 16 Breyers Yogurts $0.50 each, used four $0.50 off 4 coupons (5/23 SS) = $4 or $0.25 each
  • Total was $103.95
CVS - my card. Had some EB's to use up, otherwise I probably would have passed on this week's deals
  • Ban Invisible Solid (2.6 oz) $2.99, used $1 coupon (4/18 SS) and got back $2 EB (Limit 1) = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Finesse Hair Spray $3.99, used $1 coupon and will submit for $3 rebate (5/16 SS) = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Wesson Oil $2.49
  • Used $6.99 EB, total was $0.97, got back $1 EB for using green bag tag

Ain't Nothing Out Here But Me...

...the road and the radio...
Plus my darling boyfriend and Shadow of course! We went out for a leisurely Sunday drive this afternoon. We like to pick a direction we haven't been before and just drive until we come to a major intersection or decide to turn back. Today was absolutely gorgeous, a perfect day to have the windows down and enjoy the scenery.
Shadow loves Sunday drives! She sprawls out in the back seat, watches the cars that pass by and naps. Let me take you on a lazy girl's tour of western NJ. Please keep all hands, feet and cameras inside the vehicle at all times.
We saw tractors
and a Roadster
Other drivers
and empty roads.
Horses Bales of hay
Gorgeous views
and quaint towns
Apple orchards
and lots of farms

And diners of course. This is New Jersey afterall.
Fun was had all around. :) Happy Memorial Day everyone!

Profit All Around!

All weekend, I have been bidding on some kick-ass Smirnoff rebates ($20 off $20.01 of any groceries) on ebay. I lost three auctions (bummer) but just found two second chance offers in my inbox from the seller. Two rebates are now headed my way! I also found TMF rebates for Babybel cheese and $5 off $5.01 of groceries.

Walgreens - did this transaction twice
  • Ecotrin Low Strength Tablets (45 ct) $2, used $2 coupon (5/16 RP) and got back $2 RR = $2 profit
  • Cortaid Max Strength Anti-Itch Cream (0.5 oz) $3, used $1 coupon (3/14 RP *Exp 5/31 or 4/25 SS) and got $3 rebate (Limit 1, prints at register) = $1 profit
  • Total was $2 - paid with gift card

Then at another store, I bought:

  • Ecotrin Low Strength Tablets (45 ct) $2, used $2 coupon (5/16 RP) and got back $2 RR = $2 profit
  • 4 Reese's Pieces candies $2.50 each, used two FREE coupons (from previous rebate) and two $1 coupons (4/18 SS) and got back $5 RR (WYB $10) = $2 profit
  • Cortaid Max Strength Anti-Itch Cream (0.5 oz) $3, used $1 coupon (3/14 RP *Exp 5/31 or 4/25 SS) and got $3 rebate (Limit 1, prints at register) = $1 profit
  • U by Kotex $3.49, used $1 coupon (or 4/18 SS *Expires 5/30) and got back $2.50 RR = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • $15 Walgreens gift card
  • Red Baron pizza $3
  • 2 Royal Gelatins $0.20 each
  • Used three $8 RR's, total was $2.59

Tried to buy three cases of Diet Coke and use three FREE coupons from My Coke Rewards. The coupons beeped and the cashier couldn't get them to go through. The manager came over and said they couldn't accept them because there have been too many fraudulent free Coke coupons floating around and Walgreens corporate has said no-way-Jose to them. I was really bummed because my coupons are legit. The last time I tried to use these same coupons at CVS, they beep and come up as not matching any items. I think they are coded incorrectly because I always have issues using them. I'm not sure who to complain to - Walgreens or Coke! I'm going to try again tomorrow at a super friendly store and we'll see what happens.

CVS

  • Ban Invisible Solid (2.6 oz) $2.99, used $1 coupon (4/18 SS) and got back $2 EB (Limit 1) = FREE/$0.01 profit
  • Milk $1.99
  • Used $2 EB and $2 EB, total was $0.19

Friday, May 28, 2010

Finally, some razors for me!

Target
  • 5 cases Diet Pepsi $15, used $2 off 4 coupon and got back $5 Target gift card (WYB 5, sale this week and next) = $8 or $1.60 each
  • Total was $13.70

Then I used the gift card to help pay for:

  • 12 Gillette Venus Razors - clearanced to $4.24 each (purple) and $3.48 each (pink), used twelve $2 coupons and got back six $5 Target gift cards (WYB 2, need the coupon from 5/2 RP to get the gift cards) = $7.40 profit (after tax)

*Cashier rang up six of each type of razor even though I bought five pink and seven purple. I didn't realize it until just now. Target receipts are so confusing! I'm going to send off for this $12 P&G rebate and see what happens. I never hold out much hope for rebates that say "While Supplies Last", but we'll see if I get the money back. If not, no biggie since the razors were a profit anyway.

Walgreens
  • 10 Stride Gums $1 each, used five BOGO coupons (5/16 SS) and $1 off 2 WAG coupon (from monthly coupon booklet, scanned five times automatically) = FREE
  • 2 Morton Salts $0.50 each with in-circular coupon
  • $23 Walgreens gift card (cashier chuckled at the amount, but she's my fav and didn't have a problem with it)
  • Used three $8 RR's, total was $0.70 (tax for gum)

I stopped posting about buying gift cards with RR's because I was sick of people posting nasty comments about it. But this is MY blog and I'm going to post about what I want. If they don't like it, well, tough. I'm not forcing anyone to do anything they are uncomfortable with and if my stores allow it, what's the big deal? How is that any different than stores that allow expired coupons or allow stacking of coupons (ie. using $3 off $15 and $4 off $20 on same order)? So there. :)

ShopRite
  • 10 Crystal Lites $1.99 each, used three $3 off 3 coupon and $1 catalina (coupon fairy left this one in the aisle!) = $9.90 or $0.99 each - will use these towards a second $10 Kraft rebate (WYB $30, from Facebook)
CVS - Dozen Eggs $1.29, used $1 EB, total was $0.29. Was going to buy these the other day when I was at CVS, but I had to go to Acme afterwards and it was about 94 degrees outside, so I couldn't leave them in the car while I shopped.

  • Kraft Mac & Cheese Explosion $1.29, used FREE coupon (from Facebook sample pack) = FREE
  • Total was $4.95 - these will all count towards my second $10 Kraft rebate (WYB $30)

CVS - new card

  • 2 Old Spice body washes $4 each and Old Spice body spray $4.99, used BOGO body wash coupon and FREE body spray coupon (WYB 2 body washes, both from 5/2 P&G) and got back $8 EB ($4 EB each, Limit 2) = $4 profit

  • Gillette Gamer Razor - clearanced to $4.99 - needed a filler
  • Used $4 off $20 coupon, $2 EB and $4 EB, total was $2.17

Got my CVS Shopping Done

Did you LOVE the Safety Dance on Glee as much as I did? Is that the guy from ABDC's Heavy Impact in the video?

CVS - my new card. This store was out of the Blade razors, so I got a raincheck for them.
  • Aussie Sham/Cond and Styler $2.99 each, used $2 coupon (5/16 RP) and got back $4 EB ($2 each, Limit 2) = $0.02 profit
  • CVS Coastal Rain shampoo $0.99, used $1 CRT = $0.01 profit (no beeps!)

  • Dial soap $1.88, got back $1 EB (Limit 1) = $0.88
  • Pet bed $5.99 - my cats love these and they're cheap enough that when they get really dirty, I just toss 'em.
  • Used $4 off $20 coupon, $2 EB, $2 EB and $10 EB, total was $1.47
DBF's card
  • J&J Reach Floss (55 yard) $1.99, used $1 coupon (3/7 RP) and got back $2 EB (monthly deal, Limit 2) = $1 profit
  • Aussie Sham/Cond and Styler $2.99 each, used $2 coupon (5/16 RP) and got back $4 EB ($2 each, Limit 2) = $0.02 profit
  • Blade 5 Razor System $6.99, got back $6.99 EB (Limit 1) = FREE
  • Used $2 EB, $4 EB and $4.99 EB, total was $2.02 - paid using my e-gift card. I told the cashier it was a gift card and she proceeded to just scan it like a coupon (smacking hand on forehead). She couldn't figure it out, so started to hand it back to me and said "your total is only $2.02...". Sigh. Again, I nicely told her it was a gift card and that the instructions for use are included right on it. She finally figured it out and I went on my merry way.

Walgreens

Free Pasta

Robin Hood was great!! I loved it from start to finish, except for the guy behind us explaining every minute of the movie to his kid (who was sitting on his lap). Why can't people just shut their traps? On Sunday, DBF and I went to the Crossings in PA and poked around the outlets, then had lunch at Five Guys. Yum! I did some more cooking - whipping up a batch of Rachael Ray's turkey meatballs. Off to fill out the millions of rebates I have piled up...
ShopRite
  • 3 San Giorgio Pastas $1 each (must buy three for this price), used three $0.50 coupons = FREE
  • 2 Heluva Good Dips $1.29, used two $0.50 coupons = $0.58 or $0.29 each
  • Total was $0.58
Walmart - used up the last of my Tampax coupons after I checked out the details on the movie tickets. The offer expires 10/31 and the movie tickets are good for one month after you enter your codes and print the ticket. So I'm going to print out the tickets as we want to use them.

  • 8 Tampax Tampons $6.97 each, used eight $2 coupons (5/2 P&G) = $4.97 each *Each box has a code to get a FREE movie ticket (check for participating theaters here)

Also picked up two FREE Purina Pro Plan pouches at Petsmart using the free coupon from the 3/28 SS. We love going on Saturdays since they usually have pets there for adoption. DBF warmed up to a beautiful Australian cattle dog that was cowering in the back of her cage and I fell in love with a pudgy puppy with the biggest paws. Its hard to not take them all home with us.

What do you do when you have tons of fruit?

You make muffins of course! Apple cinnamon...
and blueberry. Yum!
Fruit salad doesn't hurt either. We are headed out to see Robin Hood using two free movie passes from the Tampax I bought. Then we're gonna go to TGIF for dinner - I've got $24 in rewards money to use there. Happy Saturday everyone!

Walmart - saw this great deal on The Coupon Goddess. Wallyworld is definitely one of my least favorite stores, but I couldn't find these specially marked packages at Target. I just bought two so I can see how long the movie tickets are good for. If its a while, I'm going to go back for more.
  • 2 Tampax Tampons $6.64 each, used two $2 coupons (5/2 P&G) = $4.64 each *Each box has a code to get a FREE movie ticket (check for participating theaters here). Paying about $5 for a movie ticket sounds good to me!

Berry Bonanza

The crafty bug bit me today and I spent the last couple hours working on some pages in a scrapbook I keep of DBF's and my vacations. Its been ages since I've done any scrapbooking and it felt really nice to unwind and reminisce about our some of our day trips and vacations. With all the tons (and tons!) of supplies that I have, its still a challenge to find that "perfect" paper, sticker, embellishment or whatever. I love getting absorbed in it all, but hate cleaning everything up again. With my curious kitties, I can't leave anything out, unless I'd like to add some nice teeth or claw marks to it.
Stop & Shop
  • 2 Hillshire Farm kielbasas $4.39 each, BOGO sale, will use these to finish out a $10 Dos Equis NBPR rebate (WYB $20 of meat, Exp. 5/15)
  • 3 Purina Kitten Chow $1.50 each, used three FREE coupons (5/2 SS) = FREE
  • Milk $2.19

Then separately, I bought:

  • 2 Sorrento string cheeses $3.79 each, used $3 off 2 coupon (5/2 SS) and will submit for $5 peelie rebate (Limit 5 per household!) = $0.42 profit

Finally, I bought:

  • 2 packages strawberries and one package blackberries - all three for $5
  • 2 packages blueberries $2.50 each
  • Total was $10 - will use these to finish out a $10 Dos Equis NBPR rebate (WYB $20 of produce, Exp. 5/15)

I purposely waited until today to buy all this fruit. I bought the first half of the items for this rebate last weekend and now I can munch on these goodies all next week. I've definitely had my full servings of fruits and veggies lately!

Marathon Monday

Today was my first day at a new campus at work. This is now the fourth campus I've worked at during my 2 1/2 year tenure at this school! Its a drastic change of pace for me, now I'm back to having free time during the day to peruse message boards and HCW. Since last August, I've barely had time during the day to make a personal phone call, let alone scope out a great deal, so I'd been doing all my research at home. I know that's how it should be, but its tough to sit there on the computer at night after having been on it all day as well. Plus my home computer is old and veeeeerrrrrryyyyyy slllloooowww.ShopRite - sign up for a $2 catalina here. Says it takes 2 days to process and will print at checkout.

Working on a $10 Dos Equis NBPR rebate for $20 of produce. The rebate requires that you include UPC's, which I think is an odd requirement for a produce rebate. Anyhoo, I was trying to buy produce items that have UPC's so I won't hit any problems (fingers crossed).
