Working 9 to 5

Well, dear friends, I took a day off work today to get all my Walgreens shopping done. I started at store #1 at 9 am and I rounded out the day back at that same store again at 5 pm. I stopped home for a quick lunch break, but otherwise spent the day Walgreens-hopping. Let me tell you, I am TIRED! I basically did the same transactions over and over, so I'm going to try and condense this a little for you. My gift cards are used up, so I used cash to pay for all the transactions. Here we go:

Had three of those darn Bayer coupons to use up. They are finally gone! :)
  • Bayer Contour/Breeze 2 monitor $14.99, used freebie coupon (10/26 or 2/1 RP or 3/22 SS) and got back $5 RR = $5 profit - bought three separately = $15 profit

Then the mission was to use up all of those Bayer RR's

  • Nivea Body Wash for Women (16.9 oz.) $4.99, used $1 coupon (4/5 RP or store displays) and got back $5 RR = $1 profit

Branching Out

Guess what! I actually bought some stuff at Walgreens today other than Bayer monitors. :) Just an FYI - the Bayer RR's say "Compliments of Bayer HealthCare, Diabetes Care!" but the Nivea RR's don't say anything. Just be careful which ones you use when you're checking out. If you use a Nivea RR to buy more Nivea, your new RR won't print.

In case you didn't see my update, the Bayer monitors and the Bayer Quick Crystals are on sale and producing RR's all month long (until 5/30).
First store:
  • 2 Bayer monitors $14.99 each (bought separately), used freebie coupons and got back $5 RR for each = $10 profit
Then I bought:
  • Rembrant mouthwash (16 oz.) $5.99, got back $6 RR = FREE, used $5 Bayer RR to pay, total was $1.41

Next store:

  • Nivea Body Wash for Women (16.9 oz.) $4.99, used $1 coupon (4/5 RP or store displays) and got back $5 RR = $1 profit
  • Bumble Bee tuna $0.79 with in-circular coupon
  • Hallmark wrapping paper (can also buy tissue paper) $0.39 with in-circular coupon
  • Used $5 Bayer RR, total was $0.36 (Love this store! Its a lower tax bracket area so I pay half the tax here)

'Nother store

  • 2 Bayer monitors $14.99 each (bought separately), used freebie coupons and got back $5 RR for each = $10 profit

Lunch break

  • 2 Bayer monitors $14.99 each (bought separately), used freebie coupons and got back $5 RR for each = $10 profit

Then I bought:

  • Rembrant mouthwash (16 oz.) $5.99, got back $6 RR = FREE
  • Hallmark wrapping paper (can also buy tissue paper) $0.39 with in-circular coupon
  • Used two $3 RR's (from Edge), total was $0.83

Yet another store

  • 2 Bayer monitors $14.99 each (bought separately), used freebie coupons and got back $5 RR for each = $10 profit

Then after work - back at the lower tax store

  • Nivea Body Wash for Women (16.9 oz.) $4.99, used $1 coupon (4/5 RP or store displays) and got back $5 RR = $1 profit
  • Scotch Packaging Tape $0.99 with in-circular coupon
  • Hallmark wrapping paper (can also buy tissue paper) $0.39 with in-circular coupon
  • Used $5 Bayer RR, total was $0.59

Then the last transaction for the day

  • Nivea Body Wash for Women (16.9 oz.) $4.99, used $1 coupon (4/5 RP or store displays) and got back $5 RR = $1 profit
  • Hallmark wrapping paper (can also buy tissue paper) $0.39 with in-circular coupon
  • Bumble Bee tuna $0.79 with in-circular coupon
  • Used $5 Bayer RR, total was $0.36

Not for the Faint of Heart

READER BEWARE - continue at your own risk. Extreme Walgreens shopping ahead...
UPDATE - the Bayer monitors and Bayer Quick Crystals are on sale and producing RR's all month long (until 5/30). So no need to be a nutcase like me and buy them all in one day. Oops!

The weather this weekend was very summer-y. Its only April and it got to around 90 degrees on Sunday! Saturday was beautiful and my boyfriend and I took a drive to New Hope, PA. Its an adorable town with lots of cute little stores to poke into. I picked up this bamboo windchime for only $15 and I love the way it sounds. Its so soothing. We also let the kitties out on the balcony for a while. They absolutely love being out there but I have to keep a close eye on them. Mousse tends to poke his head through the slots to see what's going on outside and I'm so nervous that he'll slip and fall. DBF and I ate dinner out on the balcony and the cats amused themselves (and us) by chasing down bugs and leaves. Mousse definitely doesn't look too happy in the pic above does he?

We also took my car in to have my brakes looked at. Turns out I needed new front brakes and rotors, rear shoes, a new hub bearing and a new tire because the damaged hub bearing was ripping into it. I also got an oil change. The total? $1,022.72. Oh...my...gosh! There goes the savings again. Sigh. At least I have the money in savings to pay for it. And hey, I'm getting back a $10 rebate for the oil change. Every little bit helps, right?

Don't say I didn't warn you I'd be pulling out the crazy coupon lady hat this week. Not only did I pull it out, I wore it with pride.

Sunday was Shadow's birthday. DBF thinks she's three years old and we celebrated by taking her to a new dog park we found. It was about 90 degrees and she got tuckered out pretty fast, but I think she had fun. She made friends with another dog and was intrigued by a bunch of Corgies. We think she thought they were puppies.

DBF also let me drive his pickup truck. Its a pretty big change from my little Honda, but I managed not to hit anything or side-swipe anyone. Hooray!
Ok, here it comes...I warned you! TA DA!!!!
Let's get this over with real quick: CVS - bought 7 papers at $2 each, used $6 EB and $7.98 EB, total was $0.02

Now for the main attraction...Walgreens! Let me just announce to the world now that my wonderful boyfriend is a saint. He bought a whole slew of these monitors for me and never griped or complained one bit. :) Here was our gameplan - we checked out the pharmacy section first and if they had some, we'd each buy two monitors (separately though so we'd get the RR for each). Then we discovered many stores ALSO had the monitors outside the pharmacy with the diabetes products. We'd grab a couple and check out with these in the front of the store.

So here's what we bought: Bayer Contour/Breeze 2 monitor $14.99, used freebie coupon (10/26 or 2/1 RP or 3/22 SS) and got back $5 RR = $5 profit
  • 8:49 AM - Store #1 - bought six
  • 9:26 AM - Store #2 - bought four
  • 10:25 AM - Store #3 - bought five
  • 10:42 AM - Store #4 - bought four
  • 10:56 AM - Store #5 - bought four
  • 3:58 PM - Store #6 (we took a big lunch break and went to pick up Shadow) - bought three

So all in all, we bought 26 monitors today and earned a $5 RR for each. I don't pay any tax on these, so its a pure moneymaker deal for me. That's a $130 profit! I really think this is the best Walgreens deal ever!

I'm going to donate these monitors to food pantries and senior centers so they'll all be put to use. I have about 10 more coupons to use up, and then I'm going to focus on spending these RR's.

Oh and FYI, since I used a coupon to pay for the monitors, I won't be sending away for the Try Me Free rebates in the box. I've heard from many folks that their rebates were denied if they used a coupon.

Beautiful Day

Today was graduation day at the college where I work. I really love seeing the students get the degrees they have worked so hard for. Its one of my favorite parts of my job. And it is beautiful outside, so I'm sure all those graduation pictures are going to come out great. Congrats to all grads!

Walgreens
  • 2 Glade Soy candles $5.99 each, used two $4 coupons (printables, no longer available) and $2 Easy Saver coupon (scanned twice) = $0.02 profit
  • Edge shaving cream (sigh, my last can for the month) $2.99, got back $3 RR = FREE
  • Physician's Formula Organic Wear bronzer and blush $8.39, used $5 coupon (thanks dancinmama!) and PF Organic Wear eye shadow $4.79, used $1 coupon (4/19 SS) and will get back $11 ($10 + 10% bonus, ESR #6) = $3.82 profit
  • Used $6 RR, total was $6.12

Final counts for the month: Skintimate - 4, Edge - 28, Chapstick - 19

Acme
  • 6 Viva paper towels $1.99 each, used six $0.85 coupons (doubled to $1.70 each, 4/5 SS) = $1.74
  • Got back a $5 catalina for buying $15 worth of Kimberly Clark products (original price of $2.69 a roll was what counted) = $3.26 profit

I really don't shop at Acme very often and the closest stores are pretty far from me, so I decided to spend my $5 cat right away:

  • Milk $3.59
  • Fresh Express lettuce $1.50
  • Used $5 cat, total was $0.09

ShopRite - I used the self-checkout and an older gent was totally hovering right on top of me. I had a bunch of coupons and I was waiting for a sigh or a comment about how long I was taking. To my surprise, he said "now, that's the way to shop!" :)

  • 4 Marcal Small Steps toilet paper rolls $0.99 each, used four freebie coupons (4/5 SS) = FREE
  • Kraft dressing $2.99, used freebie catalina (from my last SR trip) = FREE
  • Reynolds 100% recycled foil $2.49, used $0.55 coupon (4/19 SS) and will submit for Try Me Free rebate (form was available on Earth Day, some people have found copies in stores, will submit for $2.99 price - that's what the original price on the receipt before sales was) = $1.60 profit
  • 4 Pillsbury brownie mixes $0.88 each *Duncan Hines brownies are on sale for this price, but my store must have run out. They had a sign saying to substitute the Pillsbury for that price. Happily, I found $0.35 peelie coupons on them that doubled to $0.70 each = $0.72 or $0.18 each
  • 4 Pretzelfills $1.84 each, used four $0.75 coupons (2/22 or 3/15 RP) = $1.36 or $0.34 each
  • 4 Perdue chicken nuggets $1.99 each, used four $1 coupons (3/15 RP) = $3.96 or $0.99 each
  • 4 Great Lakes cheeses $3.52 or $0.88 each
  • SR Milk $1.84
  • Pears $0.99/lb = $1.47
  • Used $3 catalina and got $0.15 bag discount, total was $10.60

Finally Got Around to the Aveeno

I know, its Thursday already, what was I waiting for? (hehe)

CVS - shamelessly copied this deal from Rebecca - thanks! :)
  • 6 Aveeno body washes $6 each, used two $10 off 3 coupons and 2 Aveeno lotions $7 each, used two $2 coupons and got back $20 EB ($10 EB WYB $25 worth of Aveeno, Limit 3)
  • 2 Lumene wipes $2.99 each, used two $5 CRT's = $4.02 profit
  • Used $10 off $50 coupon, $2.89 EB, $4.99 EB and $5 EB, total was $0.72, overall profit $8

Walgreens - bought these yesterday and didn't see the 15% Earth Day discount and free bag coupon until after I'd shopped. I really didn't feel like going back to the store to buy anything else or get an adjustment (I doubt they would have done it anyway) so I left it at this.

  • Edge Energy Shaving Gel $2.99, got back $3 RR = FREE
  • Used $2 RR, total was $1.20

Rinse and repeat.

Reminder - this is the last week to do the month long RR deals and April rebates. They're only good until 4/25.

Rock Me Apple Danish

You didn't think this was going to be a post about baking did you? If you've been reading my blog for any amount of time, you'll know that's really not my style. Instead, let's travel back to the 80's for a minute. Do you remember this song? For some reason, my sister always thought the words to this song were "Apple danish, apple danish, rock me apple danish!" I'm not sure why, considering the NAME of the song is Rock Me Amadeus. But now whenever I hear this song, that's what pops into my head. Dare you to listen to it and not think the same thing! :)
CVS - I peeled off the PF TMF stickers before the pic. I'm not sure if the Dove price is a sale this week or a clearance price. EDIT - the Dove is a sale price (thanks ladies!) so if your store is out, make sure to get a raincheck.
  • Physician's Formula Bronze Booster Pressed Powder $8.99 (40% off sale this week), used $1 coupon (3/22 or 4/19 SS) and $5 CRT and will submit for Try Me Free rebate (has to have TMF sticker on it) = $6 profit
  • 3 Dove Skin Vitalizers $4 each, used three $3.50 coupons (3/15 RP - can also print $3.75 coupons here - sorry, looks like this coupon has been taken down) = $1.50 *Thanks for the tip on these Precious!
  • Edge Infused Comfort or Hydrate Shave Gel $2.89, get back $2.89 EB (Limit 1) = FREE
  • CVS reusable bag $0.99
  • Used $7.98 EB, total was $1.22, overall profit $2.68

DBF's card

  • Physician's Formula Bronze Booster Loose Powder $8.99 (40% off sale this week), used $1 coupon (3/22 or 4/19 SS) and $5 CRT and will submit for Try Me Free rebate (has to have TMF sticker on it) = $6 profit
  • 5 Dove Skin Vitalizers $4 each, used three $3.50 coupons (3/15 RP) and two $3.75 coupons (printable, no longer available) = $2 for all five
  • Edge Infused Comfort or Hydrate Shave Gel $2.89, get back $2.89 EB (Limit 1) = FREE

Walgreens - I've been on the hunt for PF mascaras, but I haven't been able to find them anywhere so I did this deal instead.

  • 3 Physician's Formula Organic Wear eye shadows $4.79 each, used three $1 coupons (3/22 or 4/19 SS) and will get back $11 ($10 + 10%, ESR #6) = $0.37 for all three
  • Chapstick 100% Naturals or True Shimmer Lip Balm $1.99, got back $2 RR = FREE
  • Walgreens spoons $0.50 with in-circular coupon
  • Used two $6 RR's, total was $3.04

ShopRite

Attack of the Gnats

What a beeeeutiful weekend this was! We had two days of beautiful, sunny, warm weather. My boyfriend and I thought we'd give the Skylands Botanical Garden another go. The last time we went, someone (who shall remain nameless) forgot to bring extra batteries for the camera and our photography session was cut short. This time, the batteries were ready to go, it was a gorgeous day out and we were prepared. Well, we thought we were anyway. We didn't count on the swarms of gnats that continuously buzzed around our heads. Ugh, soooo annoying! They even crashed my pictures! See the little yellow/white blob on the left hand side of this shot? GNAT!
Punks.
We tried to enjoy ourselves despite our hiking buddies. I loved this tree's crazy roots.
Isn't this tree beautiful? It makes me feel like I'm in the plains of the Serengeti.
Ahh, that looks more like Jersey. Gorgeous! Its too bad there were so many people in the park enjoying the sunshine also. They had the nerve to get in my shot. Sheesh. People. :)
I was so happy to see all the daffodils. Everywhere we looked, flowers were a-bloomin. When we went last year, most of the flowers had died in the summer heat. Finally, we had enough of the gnats and hightailed it out of there.
On Sunday, we treated ourselves to delicious, homemade ice cream at Cliffs. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend it. They've been there over 30 years and there's a reason they're still around.

Lots of Free TP - Hey! That Rhymed!

On Saturday, I did two last Walgreens stops and some supermarket shopping:
  • 9 Scotch bubble mailers three for $1 = $3
  • Used $3 RR, total was $0.21
Then I bought:
  • 6 Scotch bubble mailers three for $1 = $2
  • Edge Energy Shaving Gel $2.99, got back $3 RR = FREE
  • Scunci Hair Ties (18 ct.) $2, got back $2 RR = FREE
  • Used $6 RR, total was $1.48
A&P
  • 6 Marcal 4 pack toilet papers $0.99 each, used six $1 coupons (4/5 SS) = $0.06 profit
  • 4 Marcal single rolls toilet paper $0.79 each, used two freebie coupons (4/5 SS) - cashier entered these in as manufacturer's coupons for $0.99 (oops! I really thought they were $0.99 each) and they doubled, so I didn't need to use all four = $0.80 profit
  • Rolls $3.39 - for our yummy dinner
  • Total was $2.21

Stop & Shop

  • 7 Vitamin 10 waters (we already drank 2) $1 each, used six $0.50 coupons (tearpad - found at CVS I think? can also use $1 coupons from 4/5 SS or printables from Queen's blog) = FREE
  • Just paid tax of $0.25

Didn't feel like going to CVS on Sunday. It was too nice out and there was nothing I really HAD to have, so I bought my 7 papers at a convience store = $10.50 cash

What Was I Thinking?

Do you ever go about your day (or in this case, week), happily plodding along and then suddenly realize, "Hey! Wait a minute, why did I do that?" Well, that's me today. I really wanted to stock up on the Scotch bubble mailers that are on sale for three for $1 this week. So why was I only buying two at a time all week? The limit is 6! I haven't seen them at this price in months and months, and they don't go bad, so there's no reason for me to not buy lots of them. Duh!

Hmm, looking at the pic now, I think I may have gone just a smidge overboard. I know you're all totally shocked, afterall I know you'd never expect to see anything like this on my blog. Certainly not. :)

Ran into CVS real quick to exchange the Sobe Life Waters. The Assistant Manager helped me and when I showed her the expiration dates, she said "eww, yuck" and helped me pick out new bottles.

Walgreens
  • Scunci Hair Ties (18 ct.) $2, got back $2 RR = FREE
  • 6 Scotch bubble mailers three for $1 = $2
  • Used $3 RR, total was $1.28

Second store

  • Edge Edge Energy Shaving Gel $2.99, got back $3 RR = FREE

  • 9 Scotch bubble mailers three for $1 = $3

Then I went to a different Walgreens with my sister and they had mini-Degrees! I had my sister buy:

  • 6 Degree deodorants travel size $0.99 each, got back $6 RR for buying 6 Unilever items = FREE
  • 6 Scotch bubble mailers three for $1 = $2
  • Total was $8.50 - should have done something different here, this is pretty high but we were in a rush

Then I bought:

  • 6 Degree deodorants travel size $0.99 each, used five $0.75 coupons (3/1 RP) and got back $6 RR for buying 6 Unilever items = $3.81 profit

So Funny!

Are you all watching Better off Ted? If not, drop everything you're doing (unless you're shopping, then I can give you a temporary reprieve) and please, please, please watch episode 5. You can thank me later. :)

The Toothbrush Typhoon

Look at all these! My goodness!

EEK! Just realized I'd forgotten about my Edge totals at Walgreens. I'm probably just about done with these for the month, but you never know with me. Heck, I never even know with me! :) Let's see where I'm at now:

Today's count: Skintimate - 4, Edge - 20, Chapstick - 18

My main concern was stockpiling the shaving cream for my boyfriend, not so much the Skintimate or Chapstick. I think I did pretty good! There's a sale on Edge at CVS next week too, so I'll pick up a couple more then.

ShopRite - big thanks to Amiyrah for posting about this deal. Love it!
  • 3 Colgate Plus toothbrushes $0.99 each (have to be "Plus"), used two $0.75 coupons (doubled to the brushes' regular price of $1.39, using a third would have brought me negative, 3/29 SS), with tax, total was $0.26 and I got back a $3 catalina for buying 3 Colgate products = $2.74 profit

Rinse and repeat at another store two more times. The total was $0.31 each time. I was trying to fly under the radar at self-checkout and didn't want to have the cashier come over to do the bag discount and spot what I was doing. hehe, sneaky, sneaky I am! = $5.38 profit

At this point, I'd used up all the lovely $0.75 coupons that dancinmama had sent me, and I moved on to using the $0.40 coupons that were in my paper.

  • 3 Colgate Plus toothbrushes $0.99 each, used three $0.40 coupons (doubled to $0.80 each, 3/29 SS) With tax, total was $0.69 and I got back a $3 catalina for buying 3 Colgate products = $2.31 profit

Rinse and repeat = $2.31 profit. So all in all, I spent $2.26 and got back $15 in rewards = $12.74 profit! :)

Walgreens

  • Edge Edge Energy Shaving Gel $2.99, got back $3 RR = FREE
  • 2 Scotch bubble mailers $0.33 each with in-circular coupon
  • Used $3.50 RR, total was $0.42

Then I bought:

  • Colgate Max White or Max Fresh Toothbrush $3.29, used $0.40 coupon (3/29 SS) and got back $3.50 RR = $0.61 profit
  • 6 Dove deodorants (trial size) $1.29 each, used three $1.50 off 2 coupons (3/15 RP) and got back $6 RR (for buying 6 Unilever items, can mix and match with trial size or clearanced Degree deo. too - coupon in 3/1 RP for these) = $2.76 profit
  • 2 Scotch bubble mailers $0.33 each with in-circular coupon
  • Used $3 RR, total was $4.62, overall profit $1.88

Then later on, I bought:

  • Edge Energy Shaving Gel $2.99, got back $3 RR = FREE
  • 6 Dove deodorants (trial size) $1.29 each, used three $1.50 off 2 coupons (3/15 RP) and got back $6 RR (for buying 6 Unilever items, can mix and match with trial size or clearanced Degree deo. too - coupon in 3/1 RP for these) = $2.76 profit
  • 2 Scotch bubble mailers $0.33 each with in-circular coupon
  • Used $3.50 RR, total was $3.80 (lower tax rate at this store), overall profit $1.70

Resting Week 4/19 - 4/25

Photo courtesy of loldogs. As always, my deals all come from the wonderful folks at HCW, Slick Deals and Erica at iheartcvs.com, iheartriteaid.com and iheartwags.com. Here we go...

CVS - FYI, the $4 Beauty coupon expired 4/19

  • Bayer Aspirin Quick Release Crystals (4 ct.) $2, get back $2 EB (Limit 1) = FREE
  • Edge Infused Comfort or Hydrate Shave Gel $2.89, get back $2.89 EB (Limit 1) = FREE
  • Tresemme 3 for $10 or $3.33 each, get $5 EB (WYB 3, Limit 2). So buy six Tresemme 24-Hour Body products, use six $1 coupons and $4 off $20 beauty purchase coupon = FREE

*I had some trouble printing the Tresemme coupon so here's what I did. When you have the coupon up on your screen, hit your "Print Screen" button on the keyboard (usually top right hand of keyboard). Open Microsoft Word or a similar program and hit Ctrl V to paste it (or do File, Paste). This should bring up the coupon in a smaller format and you can print it from here. :)

  • Aveeno Skin Care, Hair Care or Sun Care Products on this page of the circular - spend $25, get back $10 EB (Limit 1 - maybe 2?). Use $10 off 3 coupon (close the coupon window and hit back on the main page to print a second copy) and $4 off $20 beauty purchase coupon. CVS Saver bought two facial cleaning pads at $8.99 each and one cleaner at $9.99 the other day - the sale is working now. I'm hoping the products will be cheaper during the week of 4/19.

Thanks Simplysara for this scenario! :)

"So, for the Aveeno deal, when you print out the $10 Q's there is a $2 off 1 Q on the same page (plus a $5/2). I also printed out a $2/any Aveeno and the UPC looks the same on both Q's, so...

  • 3 x Aveeno body wash or lotion $6 x 3 = $18 *the $10 coupon says its for a certain line but as sara said, the UPC's are all the same so it should work on any Aveeno. YMMV*
  • 1 x Aveeno Hair Care, scrub etc $7 x 1= $7
  • $25 subtotal - $10/3 Q - $2/1 Q - $4/$20 beauty purchase = $9 oop + $10 EB makes this a $1 money maker"

CVS April Monthly Deals

  • Accu-Chek Aviva Diabetes Monitoring Kit $9.99, get back $9.99 EB (Limit 1) = FREE *There is a TMF rebate form inside the box. They might issue the $9.99 back to you as a rebate, but its iffy.
  • Natural Dentist Rinse $6.99, buy two, use two $2 coupons, get back $8 EB ($4 each, Limit 3) and submit for a $10 rebate (when you buy two) = $8 profit

Rite Aid - $5 off $25 coupon here Exp. 4/30/09

  • Bengay Ultra Strength Patches (4-5 ct.) $6.99, use $1 coupon (3/22 SS), get back $3 (SCR #21) and bonus rebate of $3 = FREE
  • Compound W Freeze Off Kit or Wartner Wart Removal Kit $9.99, get back $9.99 (SCR #11, Limit 2) = FREE

Walgreens - be sure to rest up for the week of 4/26!

  • Physicians Formula Organic Wear makeup 40% off sale, use $1 coupon (3/22 or 4/19 SS) and get back $10 (ESR #6) *Be on the lookout for $5 bronzer coupons in the Beauty section and clearance prices

Here's a fabulous scenario from dancinmama: buy two Physician's Formula Organic Wear Mascaras for $5.99 each ($9.99 minus 40% sale), use two $1 coupons (3/22 SS) = $9.98 OOP (plus tax) and you'll get back $11 ($10 rebate + 10%). This is even better if you can find the Try Me Free stickers on the mascara. Then you could submit for the rebate as well.

Walgreens April RR Deals (3/29 - 4/25) *LAST WEEK for these!

  • Chapstick 100% Naturals or True Shimmer Lip Balm or Butter (0.15 oz) $1.99, get back $1.99 RR = FREE
  • Edge Infused Shaving Gel (green cans) OR Edge Energy Shaving Gel (black cans) $2.99, get back $3 RR = FREE
  • Skintimate Shaving Gel $2.99, get back $2.99 RR = FREE (Newer looking bottle. I've found them in the beauty section of the store where they stock the makeup sets and fragrances.)

*Both Edge and Skintimate are made by the same company SC Johnson, so if you use the RR from one to buy the other (ie. Edge RR to buy Skintimate), the new RR will NOT print. You also cannot buy both the Edge and Skintimate in the same transaction - you'll only get one RR instead of both.

Walgreens April Easy Saver Rebates (3/29 - 4/25) *LAST WEEK for these!

Jerk Alert

UPDATE - thanks all for the encouragement! I just called the management office at the complex and they are going to give him a call to let him know about what to expect when living in an apartment, the normal noises that you can expect to hear in an apartment, etc. They also will mention to him about the loud noises he's making and how they are unacceptable. They told me there are quiet hours from 10 pm to 7 am so I am really going to make an effort to be quieter after 10. I don't want to give him ANY ammunition, ya know? They are also going to let him know that they spotted his garage door open today and that's unacceptable, so that way its not like I tattled on him about the door. Sigh, I really hate confrontation.

The continuing adventures of the neighbor chronicles...

Last night, I got home around 8:15 pm, fixed myself and the kitties dinner and then washed my dishes when I was done. I watched tv while I ate (at a reasonable volume, nothing was blaring) and washed my dishes without the radio or anything else on. Then around 9 pm, I unpacked my bags and organized all my goodies up for my blog picture. I guess all this ruckus was just too much for my neighbor. After all, I'd been home for 45 minutes and I guess he thought that was more than enough time to settle in for the night and go to bed.

I'm not sure exactly what he's doing, but it sounds like he has a softball that he's hurling against the walls and ceiling. I swear I can hear it bounce around down there. Then he proceeded to walk into his kitchen and bathroom and SLAM every cabinet door that he has. SLAM! THUMP! (bounce, bounce) SLAM! THUMP! (bounce, bounce) This went on for about 15 minutes or so and then he settled down and all was quiet. I then talked on the phone to my darling boyfriend, wrote my blog post, checked some email, etc. Then I headed off to bed around 10:45 or so. I watched the news for a while with the volume on low. Gigi unfortunately was not ready for bed and was playing with a toy mouse out in the living room. She was running around (all in the living room, not in the bedroom) and I could hear her, but its not like she's crashing around, knocking things over. Apparently this noise was also too much for my wonderful neighbor and he voiced his complaints by banging loudly on the wall.

Then this morning when I left for work, I found that he had left his garage door open. We share the garage, so the open door means that anyone could get to my car. That's no biggie, since that's the same as if I had parked in the parking lot. But this also means anyone could take the lawn furniture in my garage or get into the building. I don't know if he left the door open deliberately or if it was just a mistake - he has things in his garage too that could have been stolen. But I'm going to move my furniture upstairs this weekend. Its getting nice now anyway, so I'll put my chairs out on my balcony.

I've chosen to just ignore his childish behavior. I feel like he's trying to bully me into keeping quiet, which is ridiculous. I pay to live there too, and I'm not holding wild parties or screaming at all hours of the night. Its totally ludicrous for him to expect me to not walk around my apartment at 9 pm. I don't want to start a war, stomping on the floor/ceiling at each other so I'm going about my life, pretending I don't hear his THUMPING and SLAMMING. But its not really fun and I don't really look forward to going home at night like I did before he moved in. Jerk.

Sigh. The joys of apartment life, huh?

More of the Same

FYI - if you have any of the freebie Bayer coupons from the 3/22 SS, hold onto them for a fabulous Walgreens sale during the week of 4/26. The monitors are going to be $14.99 each, you'd use the coupon to get them for free and then you get back a $5 RR. That's a $5 profit! I just ordered a bunch of coupons off ebay. :)

CVS
  • 4 Sobe Life Waters $1.69 each, BOGO sale, used two BOGO coupons (cashier took off $1.69 for one and $1.59 for the other) = FREE - just paid tax of $0.12

Ewww, so after looking at these bottles when I got home, they are expired! One expired in November 2008. What do you think? Are they safe to drink? Will I collapse in convulsions if I take a sip? I would exchange them, but these were the last ones this store had. I guess I could take them to another store...seems like a lotta trouble for free water.

ShopRite

  • 4 Ziploc storage bags $1.50 each, used four $0.55 coupons (3/15 or 4/5 SS) = $1.20 or $0.40 each
  • 12 Breyers yogurts $0.33 each, used three $0.50 off 4 coupons (4/5 SS) = $0.96 or $0.08 each - just wish they'd have more flavors in the light variety
  • Used two $1 catalinas, total was $0.81

Walgreens

  • Edge Infused Shaving Gel (can also buy Edge Energy Shaving Gel in black cans) $2.99, got back $3 RR = FREE
  • 2 Scotch bubble mailers $0.33 each with in-circular coupon - I'm so happy these went on sale again! I'm definitely stocking up.
  • Used $3.50 RR, total was $0.42

Different store

  • Colgate Max White or Max Fresh Toothbrush $3.29, used $0.75 coupon (3/29 SS) and got back $3.50 RR = $0.96 profit
  • 2 Scotch bubble mailers $0.33 each with in-circular coupon
  • Used $3 RR, total was $0.49

Then I did a rinse and repeat at another store:

  • Edge Infused Shaving Gel (can also buy Edge Energy Shaving Gel in black cans) $2.99, got back $3 RR = FREE
  • 2 Scotch bubble mailers $0.33 each with in-circular coupon
  • Used $3.50 RR, total was $0.42

And then...

I'm really loving these two transactions because the OOP is so low. I am going to repeat these until I run out of coupons or collapse from exhaustion, whichever comes first.

What a Hop in the Arse

Walgreens - thanks dancinmama for these scenarios and for the Colgate coupons!
  • Colgate Max White or Max Fresh Toothbrush $3.29, used $0.75 coupon (3/29 SS) and got back $3.50 RR = $0.96 profit
  • Geisha mushrooms $0.50 with in-circular coupon
  • Used $3 RR, total was $0.27

Then I bought:

  • Edge Infused Shaving Gel (can also buy Edge Energy Shaving Gel in black cans) $2.99, got back $3 RR = FREE
  • WAG Aluminum Foil $0.59 with in-circular coupon
  • Used $3.50 RR, total was $0.33
Then I made the mistake of going in after work for a "quick" run. Sigh. A half hour later, I left the store, annoyed and tired.

Here's what I bought:
  • Bayer Contour diabetes monitors $14.99 each (Mega Saver price until 4/25), used freebie coupon (3/22 RP) = FREE
  • Colgate Max White or Max Fresh Toothbrush $3.29, used $0.75 coupon (3/29 SS) and got back $3.50 RR = $0.96 profit
  • Geisha mushrooms $0.50 with in-circular coupon
  • Used $3 RR, total was $0.16

No RR's printed. I asked the Pharmacy Tech if the light on the catalina printer was on. She said no and turned on the machine, but of course, its not going to print anything after the fact. She calls a manager over and explains what happened. The manager AND another Pharmacy Tech both tell me its because I used coupons. Sigh. I said, "I'm sorry but that's not correct. Its because the machine was OFF!" The manager then messes with the machine, attempts to put in a new roll of paper and messes around with it some more. He finally decides to check me out on the register next to this one. Fine. He then cannot seem to figure out how best to handle the transaction. After a lot of scanning, coupon examining and higher thought, he decides to do an exchange. Somehow the total ends up being $0.13. At this point, I've been in the store at least 20 minutes and I'd really love to just go home. So I think to myself - whatever, I'll pay the $0.13 and I swipe my gift card. Guess what happens next??? The catalina printer...JAMS! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Come on catalina gods! Double sigh.

He hands me the $10 coupon for Fashion Bug that had printed before the transaction completed and says "was this what you had wanted?" NOPE! I explained how I was supposed to get two RR's. So guess what we do next? We move on to register #3! He then does his fancy exchange thing AGAIN and now my total is $0.16. I said "I'm not paying for these items three times, this is ridiculous." He shrugs, and says, "well, the total is $0.16, its the tax." I said - "I'm aware of that, but I've already paid for these items two times and I'm not paying a third time" and give him the "frugalsuz staredown". I guess it worked because he finally just totaled the transaction and miracle of all miracles, my RR's printed! I've never been so happy to hear that catalina printer purrin' away.

Big Spender

Like many others, I got some crazy CVS coupons this week - $15 off a $75 purchase and $20 off $100. When I first got these, I thought, oh well, there's no way I'm going to be able to use these in a smart or profitable way. But thanks to nasagreen and annathy's posts, I got some great tips and headed out to the store. Gracias ladies!CVS - My card. My subtotal here was over $100, but the cashier hit some button that applied the CVS sales, which brought it down to around $76. Grr! The $20 off $100 coupon then wouldn't work, so I had to run back and grab the monitors real quick. I was glad I had a backup plan in mind!

  • Softsoap Ensembles base $3.99, used $2 coupon (Reinventing Beauty magazine found in stores or 3/22 SS) = $1.99 - I was thinking I would get back EB's, but I forgot that you only get them when you buy two. I'm out of coupons at this point, so I'll probably just leave it as this and move on.

I Know I Said I Wouldn't Do This...

...but I had $17 in RiteAid gift cards burnin' a hole in my pocket and this seemed like a great way to use them up.
RiteAid
  • 4 John Frieda shampoos/conditioners/stylers $5 each, used four $2 coupons (4/5 SS) and will get back $10 (SCR #81, WYB $20 worth) = $2 or $0.50 each
  • Blink Tears (15 ml) $7.99, used $1 coupon (3/1 RP - there are also $2 coupons in this insert but I used them up at Walgreens a while back) and will get back $7.99 (SCR #31) = $1 profit
  • 3 Barilla pastas $0.99 each
  • Used $5 off $25 coupon, $6.85 on one gift card, $10 on another, $1.51 cash
I counted the gift cards as coupons in my calculations since it didn't cost me anything to earn them. They were a pure profit. So, overall my profit for this transaction was $16.48.

Doggie Datin'

Sorry about the pic, there was too much sunlight coming through in the background. On Saturday, I bought six Softsoap Ensembles (one was leaking so it isn't in the pic) for free and I also picked up the two Sterlite containers on clearance for $1.39 each.

On Sunday, I really didn't feel like doing any shopping so I just picked up my seven papers at a convenience store = $10.50.

Then Shadow had a playdate with Rocky, my sister's dog. We went to a local park and it was the perfect day for it. Bright and sunny, around 65 degrees with a great breeze. Of course, the dogs were just happy to run and play.
Rocky especially loves to run. He's part Border Collie, so its all in the breed.
Did you see me? Did you see me? I ran, I ran, I ran, I ran!!!!!
Look at those gorgeous eyes!

Shadow showed us her shadow. She watched my boyfriend as he got something out of the truck, never losing eye contact with him.

Smooch!
Shadow modeling Rocky's bandana. Who doesn't like to try on their boyfriend's clothes?

Momma, I havin' fun!!
Me too!
